This flexible home volunteering role is worthwhile and rewarding. Make a real difference writing letters. As a Volunteer Penpal Writer you’ll be a key member of the Letterbox Team. Your letters will cheer someone up and establish a trusting, supportive relationship with a client who might be lonely or socially isolated.

What tasks can this role include (some or all of the following):

• Writing letters to clients
• Building trust and companionship with a client through correspondence. Omega befriends a variety of people including: caregivers, the lonely, isolated or people with ill-health.
• Liaising with the Letterbox Team by email or post.
• Respecting service standards, appropriate boundaries and recognising the policies and procedures that are necessary when befriending adults at risk.
• Making suggestions to help us improve the service we provide to clients and Volunteer Pen pal Writers.

Our Summer Camp

We are currently looking for energetic and enthusiastic volunteers to join us on our action-packed residential Summer Camp. On the camp you will be supporting one of our members with a disability to have a holiday they won’t forget.

What you'll do

On the camp you and a fellow co-volunteers will support one of our members with a learning disability or autism for the 5 days. You’ll support and encourage them to take part in lots of exciting activities such as campfires, treasure trails, swimming, games nights, day trips to the seaside and much more. You’ll also help our members with their day-to-day routines and preparing our meals.

Not only is it five days full of fun and games for you and our members, but you will also play a vital part in supporting them to develop their social skills in a day-to-day environment and of course, to enjoy a fantastic holiday!

Requirements

What you need
You do not need experience. Full disability awareness training will be provided before you begin volunteering with us.
The only requirements we ask of you are enthusiasm, energy and to be open-minded.

How much time?
The Camp runs for five days, four nights. The dates are Wed 17th - Sun 21st June and/or Wed 1st - Sun 5th July.

The camp starts and finishes in Tottenham, North London.

We can offer you
We can reimburse your travel expenses for your training days. All meals, transportation and accommodation are provided during the camp.
We'll also provide excellent training before the camp, and lots of helpful support throughout.

Our Employability Project

Our Employment & Life Skills Project (ELSP) helps adults with learning disabilities or autism to access further education, work experience and visits to mainstream community opportunities. 

What you’ll do
You’ll act as a mentor to the members of the group.  You’ll be helping the group(s) develop a range of life skills, things that many of us take for granted.  These include Maths and English skills, independent living, the use of public transport, social skills and even the sourcing of employment. 

For the people in these groups, these things can be very difficult to develop and achieve without regular support. Through regular support and meetings, members and volunteers develop greater trust, skills, and confidence together.

About the role

We are looking for a social media volunteer to help us shine a light on the wealth of content already available within the Resources Hub.

In this role, you will:

• Spend time exploring our existing Resources Hub content
• Write 1–3 social media posts per resource, tailored for different platforms
• Help us build a reusable library of social media posts that we can draw on to promote resources when they are most relevant

This role is about helping people discover support that already exists, making it easier for patient groups and advocates to find information that could make a real difference to their work.

Time commitment and flexibility

​This is a fully remote volunteering role, which we ideally hope can be completed within around three months. We anticipate a minimum commitment of approximately two hours per week, though a shorter, more intensive placement could also be arranged to suit the volunteer. About the Role:

As our Open-Source Platform Engineer, you will design, develop, and maintain the core technology stack for our membership platform, ensuring it is secure, scalable, and aligned with open-source principles. You will work closely with the Membership Director, Technical Systems Liaison, and other team members to integrate community-facing tools, data systems, and collaborative features that support our anti-capitalist, values-led mission. • Familiarity with cloud-hosted and on-premises system environments, including deployment and maintenance.

• Ability to clearly document technical processes, system workflows and platform architecture.

Main Responsibilities/ Key Duties

• Develop, implement and maintain the open-source membership platform and associated tools to support community engagement and organisational objectives.
• Build scalable, secure and accessible systems that facilitate user registration, content management and interactive community features.
• Build robust content management systems (CMS) to enable efficient creation, organisation, publishing and retrieval of digital content for community members and volunteers.
• Integrate third-party tools, APIs and plug-ins to extend platform functionality in alignment with organisational goals and requirements.
• Collaborate with technical and non-technical team members to understand community and organisational needs, translating them into functional and user-friendly systems.
• Provide technical guidance and insights to inform strategic decisions around system architecture, integrations, platform design and development priorities.
• Monitor platform performance and troubleshoot issues, proactively identifying and resolving technical problems to ensure smooth operation.
• Ensure documentation supports compliance and best practices, including data protection, accessibility standards and organisational policies.
• Use documentation as a tool for continuous improvement, identifying gaps, optimising workflows and refining platform usability based on feedback.
• Document technical processes, system architecture and user guides to maintain organisational knowledge, support future development and assist team onboarding.
• Contribute to the ongoing strategy for digital systems development and platform innovation, suggesting improvements, new features and best practices for long-term sustainability.
• Facilitate knowledge transfer by providing documentation that supports onboarding of new volunteers, technical contributors and staff members.

Volunteer Delivery Driver needed to collect and deliver essential baby items to mums across the Greenwich Borough.

Purpose of Role 

Many of the mums we support cannot collect essential items themselves due to financial hardship, mobility issues, mental health challenges, or caring responsibilities. Volunteer Delivery Drivers help ensure essential donated items reach mums supported by MumsAid safely, respectfully, and with dignity. This role involves collecting goods from Mammakind Charity and delivering them directly to families, many of whom are experiencing hardship, isolation, or vulnerability. Due to the nature of this role, you will be in direct contact with vulnerable mums and their families, so a strong commitment to safeguarding, confidentiality, and professional boundaries is essential. 

What will you be doing? 

• Liaise with MumsAid team about delivery schedules 

• Collect and safely transport donated items from Mammakind Charity 

• Deliver items sensitively to families 

• Maintain confidentiality and professional boundaries 

• Follow safeguarding guidance at all times 

• Report safeguarding or welfare concerns immediately to the MumsAid team 

• Promote and support equality, diversity and inclusion 

• Attend induction and role-specific training and take part in feedback sessions

Requirements 

• Full, valid UK driving licence 

• Access to a suitable vehicle for deliveries 

• Valid vehicle insurance, MOT, and road tax 

• Volunteers must confirm with their insurer that their vehicle policy covers charity volunteering 

• Willingness to provide relevant documentation upon request 

• Physically able to lift and carry items, following manual handling guidance 

• DBS check (or willingness to apply, supported by MumsAid) 

• Agreement to follow all MumsAid policies and procedures

Hours: Flexible hours, with a minimum commitment of 3 hours per week, usually on a Thursday, in line with client and charity needs
