The difference you will make to cats and people

From elderly moggies to energic kittens, every day across the UK cats and kittens are in need of a temporary place to stay, and lots of love and TLC! We need more fosterers like you to provide a safe, temporary haven for cats and kittens and provide them with everything they need before they get their chance to land on their four paws and make a house a home.

You can expect us to

Why We Want You

People consistently tell us that meeting others living with Parkinson's is the most important support they want locally. Volunteers run Parkinson's Cafes to provide an informal way of doing just that for a couple of hours each week. As a Cafe Volunteer, you'll support the Cafe Coordinator to help the monthly cafe run smoothly.

What You Will Be Doing

You will meet and greet attendees, keeping an up-to-date list of names. With other volunteers, you'll think of creative ways to add interest and value to the café sessions, such as arranging visits from relevant local health professionals. You'll arrive early, helping to get the venue ready, and packing down as needed once people have left. You will also help to serve refreshments or show attendees where they can purchase theirs.

The Skills Yo Need

You'll need to be warm and friendly, a good communicator, and open to working and interacting with a range of people. Being patient and empathetic is crucial in order to deal with sensitive issues and topics. Additionally, you should be motivated and reliable to ensure the coffee sessions run smoothly.

We'll support you to learn more about Parkinson's, and you'll be able to develop your organizational and communication skills.

Chatterbox Befrienders offer one-to-one telephone support and will call a client once a week offering companionship and a listening ear for an individual who might otherwise go unheard. Chatterbox volunteers befriend a variety of people including carers, socially isolated individuals who are struggling with loneliness, people with ill health and those that have been bereaved.

This role could be for you, if you:

• Would like to make a real difference in someone’s life
• Want to challenge loneliness and can commit to a weekly phone call
• Are a good listener
• Are empathetic, patient and of a caring nature
• Have good verbal and inter-personal communication skills
• Recognise the importance of confidentiality and can uphold this in practice
• Are committed to inclusion and treating people with dignity and respect

Requirements of a Befriender include:

• Calling your client once a week for a chat of up to 45 minutes; this is a 26 week initial commitment, at the end of which each client’s needs are reviewed
• Completing an online call log record promptly after each phone call
• Ensuring immediate contact with the Chatterbox Coordinators if you feel that the client might be a risk to themselves or others
• Liaising with the Chatterbox Coordinator on a regular basis regarding the service, as well as discussing personal learning and development needs
• Respecting service standards, appropriate boundaries and recognising the range of policies and procedures that impact on befriending vulnerable adults

Campus Cares

Campus Cares is building a movement to improve the mental well-being of Nigerian university students, where suicide is the second leading cause of death among young people and nearly one in five shows signs of anxiety or depression. Barriers like stigma, underfunded campus counseling, and economic hardship prevent most from seeking help.

Campus Cares tackles these challenges through a youth-centered model that combines peer-led workshops, free counseling, and digital outreach. Student “Mental Health Ambassadors” lead stigma-breaking sessions, while licensed therapists provide confidential drop-in counseling and tele-health support. Digital campaigns and resource toolkits extend impact to thousands more students. During exams, stress-management programs create safe spaces for coping and connection.

By integrating awareness, access, and advocacy, Campus Cares ensures no student suffers in silence—building a culture where mental wellness is a right, not a privilege, and driving systemic change aligned with SDG 3: Good Health and Well-being.

Fundraising & Partnerships Associate

- Identify grant opportunities, corporate sponsors, and donor prospects aligned with youth mental health. - Develop creative fundraising campaigns (online & offline) to sustain Campus Cares programs. - Build and manage partnerships with organizations and stakeholders to expand reach and credibility.

In this role you’ll be able to develop your writing skills, and gain an experience of communicating across a range of digital channels.

We estimate this role will need around 2 hours a week. Our roles are flexible and aim to fit around you. Time commitments for this role may vary depending on your activities. This is an ongoing role.

This is a great opportunity to gain experience within a large charity and develop your existing skills and learn new ones. We need you to get involved and help make positive changes to the lives of people affected by MS.

You’ll have an interest in the MS Society and the work that we do, as well as the enthusiasm to represent both us and our values locally. You will understand the needs of people affected by MS in your area and be sympathetic to the needs and motivations of volunteers. You’ll be confident using Microsoft Office, the internet and email. Helping in our shops is a great way to help CHAS and, as well as helping us raise money to fund our vital services, you'll be part of a really great team of volunteers. You'll be meeting new people, using your skills or learning something new, and making sure our customers get a great welcome and all the assistance they need.

It's always great to see our volunteers chatting to customers and telling them about CHAS - and there's so much more to this role too: you could be sorting donations, getting stock ready for the shop floor, wielding a steamer or a duster, processing Gift Aid, operating the till (we will show you how), merchandising and displaying stock - you'll never have a dull moment.

It would be ideal if you could volunteer one shift each week, which is about four hours (but we're also happy to chat about more flexible times). No special skills are needed as we’ll show you what to do and we provide all the training you’ll need. But if you have any experience or particular interest please tell us, it may come in useful. It’s really easy to get your volunteering started.

As a Charity Shop Volunteer, you will play an important role in helping raise vital funds to support children with life-shortening conditions and their families. There's never a dull moment in our shops and in Dunfermline you'll be working both in the stock room - sorting and preparing stock - and on our shop floors, providing great customer service.

We’re seeking a Volunteer Grants Fundraiser Coordinator to work alongside our Operational Director to identify suitable funders and shape compelling applications for our inclusive, sustainability-focused programmes. You won’t be on your own, you’ll collaborate closely with the Operational Director, using our project briefs, impact data, and templates.

What you’ll do

• Prospect & shortlist relevant trusts/foundations against our priorities

• Read and interpret funder guidelines, eligibility and scoring criteria

• Shape applications to reflect funder requirements and Willowbrook’s needs

• Draft/edit clear, concise proposals (including character-limited answers)

• Help assemble supporting documents and track deadlines/outcomes

• Join a brief weekly check-in with the Operational Director

About you:

• Strong written English and clear, persuasive style

• Able to decode funder requirements and tailor responses accordingly

• Good research and organisational skills; comfortable with simple trackers

Baby Basics Northampton is a registered charity that provides moses basket starter packs to parents with new babies in Northamptonshire, via referrals from healthcare professionals and local agencies. 

The charity is in its 12th year, and ready to grow in line with community demand for our vital service.  We are recruiting new Trustees, to join the Board to ensure this much-loved local charity thrives as it increases both its reach and impact.

Across Cats Protection some of our cats looking for new and loving homes might be shy, nervous or aggressive depending on their past or if they are struggling to adapt to the rescue environment. Our kitten socialisation volunteers help the kittens in our care by spending time enriching each kittens experience through play, exercise and handling until they are happy and confident enough to find their perfect forever homes.

What we need from you

You’ll be:

· Spending time with kittens so they become fully socialised

· Making sure infectious disease control measures are in place

· Recording socialisation tasks and keeping information about the kittens up to date

· Determining the needs and requirements of the kittens

· Following cat care standards and procedures

Time expectation

Our kitten socialisation volunteers spend 1 to 2 hours a week in this role which is flexible and can be shared by more than one volunteer if needed. We request that volunteers spend time with a particular litter of kittens on a weekly basis, as this will be more beneficial for the kittens.
