We are a new, independent, non-profit uniformed youth organisation with a bold mission: to engage young people in their communities, equip them with essential life skills, and unlock their full potential. Now, we are looking for Cadet Unit Leaders to lead our cadets at the grassroots level, ensuring they are seen locally in uniform as positive role models breaking down stereotypes of young people in the community.

The Role

As a Cadet Unit Leader, you will:

• Set up, manage, and develop one of our London-based cadet units.

• Lead and inspire cadets, creating a safe, supportive, and engaging environment.

Volunteering in the shop

Mary's Living & Giving for Save the Children is unique - a vibrant result of the generous gifts of local individuals and companies being turned around by the skills and passions of volunteer teams, to create a destination retail experience. Selling womenswear, menswear, shoes, and bags to household goods, our shops can be found in the London villages and bring in vital funds for Save the Children.

Our Richmond Shop Volunteers are in the middle of it all, and there’s plenty to get involved with. You might be sorting and pricing stock, engaging with customers, ringing items through the till, creating fantastic window displays or keeping our shop floor looking organised.

It’s up to you how much you commit. We have volunteers who support for a couple of hours a week and some do more. Many people volunteer either a morning or an afternoon each week - this is something that will be discussed at the selection stage, after you’ve applied.

Our groups and courses can be run online or in-person in your local area.

- The amazing 6-week Happiness Habits Course is designed to be run by pairs of volunteers.  It features expert videos, science-backed exercises and the chance to form meaningful connections. Our course has been specially designed to gather the insights of the world's leading experts on six fundamental aspects of a happy and meaningful life: Gratitude, Self-Care, Relationships, Resilience, Kindness, and Meaning. It is a very impactful (many say life-changing) experience.

What is the time commitment?

Join our amazing volunteer team to raise awareness of sight loss and RNIB services at local events. You will give talks in person or virtually, sharing your own story to improve understanding of sight loss to local service providers and community groups. You’ll be making a real difference to people living with sight loss by helping to improve accessibility and inclusivity, creating a world without barriers.

• Giving talks to groups of people to raise awareness of sight loss in your local community by sharing your story to audiences, for example, local businesses, community and voluntary groups.

• Representing RNIB as an Ambassador for the Community Connection service

Many older adults and vulnerable individuals from the UK’s Farsi-speaking community experience loneliness and isolation. One of our female befriendees is especially keen to improve her English skills and would benefit greatly from a supportive volunteer who can help her build confidence through regular, friendly conversations.

What is the Talking Bubble Project?

A phone-based service that connects volunteers with individuals who may feel isolated or lonely. Through regular calls, you’ll help build friendships, brighten someone’s day, and offer emotional support — in a way that’s sensitive to their cultural and language needs.

In this case, we are looking for a Farsi-speaking volunteer with a good command of English, so conversations can be held in English while using Farsi as needed to ensure understanding and comfort.

At St John Ambulance, we are looking to develop our volunteering offer and become an even more integral part of our communities through delivering community first aid and education. 

We need people who have a passion for helping others, care about their communities and want to make a difference, supporting them to become safe and more resilient by sharing your first aid skills and knowledge. As a Community First Aider, you’ll deliver first aid to those in need through local events, as well as provide education to the public so that the ripple effect of First Aid grows.

Through supporting the growth of community partnerships, you will bring people along to our cause, growing our membership and fundraising base and spreading the message that First Aid Saves Lives. 

Through volunteering as a Community First Aider, you’ll get a huge sense of satisfaction and pride delivering an essential service. It’s great for you, great for your community and great for our nation, and it requires only a small commitment of your time.

Filling Good is a community-led sustainable retail community benefit society on a mission to reduce waste, promote ethical consumption, and support local, eco-conscious producers. Based in Maidenhead, we are passionate about empowering our members and customers to live more sustainably. As a co-operative, we are owned and governed by our members and guided by values of fairness, transparency, and social impact.

We are looking for volunteer retail assistants to help run the shop. The shifts are from 9.45 am until 1.45 pm or 1.30 pm to 5.30 pm and we are open Tuesday to Saturday 10 - 5 (and on Sundays but shorter hours).  You will be serving customers, refilling food dispensers, receiving and processing deliveries, liaising with other volunteers and helping make Maidenhead residents follow a more sustainable lifestyle.

Volunteering in the shop will entitle you to a discount on your shopping and you will meet lots of other environmentally friendly, lovely people.
