Specialist Behaviour Support Workers are responsible for supporting people with learning disabilities and behavioural needs to live full lives, develop skills and maintain their wellbeing.

This role includes weekend work and will involve shift-based scheduling during weekends.

Driving is mandatory for this role.

This role requires sleep-in shifts at the service.

What you'll do:

* Supporting the customer to lead a full and active life and do things they enjoy, sensitively and persistently trying to new things to open up new opportunities for the customer;

* Developing the customer's independent living skills and involving them in aspects of maintaining and developing their home, including cooking, shopping, cleaning and decorating;

* Supporting the customer in their sensory routine, trialling and testing new sensory experiences;

We are recruiting a Peer Involvement Worker to join the Involvement Team and become part of a vibrant and ambitious Lived Experience Workforce.  It is essential that applicants have personal lived experience of mental and emotional distress, and personal experience of accessing secondary care mental health services, or experience of caring for, or supporting someone who has. 1. To work alongside the Involvement Project Lead, the Involvement Administrative Coordinator, two Peer Involvement Coordinators, and the wider Involvement Team.

3. Support people with lived experience of trust services through the registration process to enable them to join the Lived Experience Network.

Deliver a high-quality service to and facilitate opportunities for, individuals living with NPH/dementia and their families/carers through Shine membership across England, Wales and Northern Ireland.

Service Delivery & Development

• Work closely with the Youth Work Manager and wider youth team in developing and delivering creative, inclusive and needs-led programmes, activities and services for young people that promote their wellbeing and enhance their life chances.
• Actively promote the meaningful participation of young people in shaping the ongoing development of Blend Youth Project service delivery.
• Work effectively across Blend sites and delivery locations in a range of contexts including: open drop-in sessions, alternative education provision, project-based delivery, community projects, detached work, 1:1 mentoring, residentials and school-based work.
• Function as the ‘Lead Worker’ within a variety of delivery contexts and conduct yourself as a role model in youth work practice, providing practice-based support to other staff/volunteers as required.

Specialist Support Workers within Look Ahead are required to have either an extra dimension of experience or a higher qualification level as determined relevant for the particular post. Specialist Support Workers provide information, social inclusion and vocational opportunities to support people to recover and stay well; exercise choice and control in their care and lives; and participate on an equal footing in the community. The 5-week rolling rota pattern includes both evening and weekend shifts. The shifts are from 07:00 to 15:00 or from 14:00 to 22:00, with a mix of both types. You will have approximately one full weekend off every five weeks, plus one additional Saturday off and one additional Sunday off, resulting in a total of two full working weekends in every five weeks.

This is an exciting new role in Crisis to lead on the practical development of Brent Council’s neighbourhood working approach in Harlesden and feed into Crisis’s new strategy, building on our experience of place-based work in Brent, developing new approaches to preventing homelessness and income insecurity and leading on local system.

The postholder will be line managed by Crisis Brent Skylight Director and is supported by Brent Council’s Head of Place Leadership.
