About the Role

Citizens Advice Liverpool is looking for an experienced and proactive HR Business Partner to lead the delivery of a high-quality, people-centred HR service that supports our staff and the organisation’s strategic objectives.

Working closely with the Chief Executive and senior leadership team, you will provide expert HR advice across the full range of employment issues, including employee relations, organisational change, and workforce development. You will also line-manage the HR Assistant and oversee the smooth running of HR processes and systems.

This is a varied and influential role in a small HR team, combining strategic input with hands-on delivery. You will help shape CAL’s people strategy, lead on complex employee relations cases, and ensure compliance with employment law and Citizens Advice policies. You will also play a key role in developing line managers’ confidence to handle HR issues effectively.

You’ll lead or advise on projects such as restructures, redundancies, TUPE transfers, and policy development, and contribute to staff wellbeing and engagement initiatives.

Requirements

We’re looking for someone who:

• Has at least two years’ experience in a standalone or business partner HR role providing both strategic and operational HR advice
• Is ideally CIPD Level 7 qualified, or able to demonstrate equivalent professional HR experience
• Has strong, up-to-date knowledge of employment law and HR best practice
• Has experience managing or advising on complex employee relations cases (disciplinary, grievance, capability, absence)
• Has successfully supported or led organisational change projects such as restructures, redundancies, or TUPE
• Can build trusted relationships with senior managers and staff across the organisation
• Is proactive, organised, and confident delivering high-quality HR advice in a fast-paced environment

MAIN PURPOSE OF JOB:

To assist with handling all incoming requests for help, both by telephone and email, to listen to and record the needs of elderly and/or terminally ill people and their pets (ie Owner needs).  To identify individuals outside our charitable remit and refer to other organisations that can offer assistance and always seek advice in the case of doubt.

Where help is required, to raise a computerised record to log the case, task volunteers nationwide by telephone and email to offer assistance to elderly Owners with the pet care and reassurance needed in order to honour our mission statement of “Peace of mind for owners, love care and safety for their pets”.  Liaise with both Owner and volunteer throughout to ensure the delivery of our service.  This post will require a good overall understanding of the needs of elderly people and their pets.

 MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

i. To assist in contacting volunteers nationwide by telephone and email and tasking by telephone as required to help Owners with their pets.

ii. To listen to the needs of each Owner and accurately record information for each Owner and their pet by completion of a computerised case to record volunteers assigned and the service provided. 

iii. To ensure you record all of your communications onto the database in an accurate and timely fashion by way of comments on each Owner case at the end of each conversation.

iv. To help maintain up-to-date records and mailing lists for Owners, Owners’ contacts and volunteers throughout the course of your work.

v. To ensure the appropriate delivery and quality of service provided to Owners when you are handling a request for:-

a) Dog Walking

Task a minimum of two volunteers per case to assist with dog walking.  Contact all volunteers after their first dog walk to check and ensure they have started, log all responses onto the database, then complete the case.

b) Home Checks

When a potential long term fosterer is identified, you will be asked to task a volunteer to visit and carry out a home check.  Once the completed home check has been received, complete the case – (all home checks will be valid for 12 months).

c) Short Term Fostering (stf)

To initially gather as much information about the pet(s) as you can and how soon a foster is required.  Raise a case and log all details onto the database, begin a computerised search for a suitable volunteer to foster, arrange transport, if needed, to take the pet(s) to the volunteer and follow up 24 hours after the pet arrives to ensure all is well.  Keep in touch weekly.

If the pet goes home – arrange transport to take the pet back home, again follow up 24 hours after the pet has returned home with a phone call to the Owner to ensure all is well.  If dog walking or any other assistance is needed, raise a new case and task the appropriate volunteers to either dog walk, offer Pet Care, reassure etc.

If the pet(s) goes into long term foster – refer to your line manager, once a decision is made, then follow the protocols for Long Term Fostering see below.

d) Long Term Fostering (ltf)

Raise a Long Term Foster Case, if needed, identify and chat to potential individuals, all of whom must already be home checked, run through the home check with the person to identify any changes, refer to your line manager, once the right individual is selected, arrange transport to take the pet(s) to their new ltf home.  Once the pet(s) have arrived, follow up 24 hours later to ensure all is well.

e) Pet Care

When required, task a volunteer to visit a Owner and offer pet care, whether it is to administer medicine, groom, clean out a litter tray, bird cage, reassure, or any other pet care as agreed with your line manager as this is not an exhaustive list.

f) Talks

To task a volunteer to give a talk, attend an event, or represent The Trust but always take advice from your line manager with regard to appropriate volunteers for these tasks.

v. To liaise with all other members of The Trust to help maintain a quality service.

vi. To contribute to the team by helping to update volunteer and Owner cases in the course of your communications.

vii. To help maintain filing and filing systems related to your work.

viii. To liaise with all other staff of The Trust in a flexible manner.

ix. To liaise with all Owners and members of the general public in a polite and helpful way.

x. To be familiar with and adhere to procedures and protocols, disciplinary and applicable rules and ensure compliance with legislations (Health and Safety, Data Protection, especially the privacy of members, Owners and volunteers alike).

xi. At all times to ensure and maintain a compassionate, professional and efficient public image for The Trust.

Together with such additional general duties as the Employer shall reasonably require, having regard to the needs of the Employer’s business as a Charitable Trust.

• Support the Head of Finance by providing financial papers to the Senior Management Team, Audit committee, Board of Trustees and other committees as required.
• Communicate financial principles to non-finance staff, building their skillsets to enable them to effectively manage their budgets and forecasts
• Support major procurement decisions and the supplier contract review process

Essential Knowledge, skills, and experience:

• With or working towards an accounting qualification
• Good attention to detail
• Experience of working in a finance department, with finance and CRM systems knowledge
• Proficient in Microsoft Office suite with advanced Excel skills

Key duties and responsibilities will include:

• Work alongside the CEO and Senior Management Team (SMT) to develop and implement the Charity's strategy and business plans including setting and managing budgets, targets and outputs and reviewing progress against these.

What's the role about?

The Senior Fundraising Officer will be expected to:

• Identify, develop and deliver fundraising projects and match these to agreed priority areas to maximise income.
• Lead on the development of funding plans for priority work as allocated.
• Contribute to the implementation of an agreed fundraising opportunities and lead on large funding bids across one or more income stream.
• Scope, develop and manage funding relationships and multi stakeholder bids to optimise opportunities and ensure successful funding arrangements.
• Identify the requirements of our funders, including analysis of potential risk and communications requirements to ensure effective dialogue and delivery of any funding and compliance conditions.
• Provide forecasts for budgeting and make recommendations for change in order to provide accurate financial information for RSPB leadership.

• Ensure funders and donors have an excellent supporter experience and increase their understanding and awareness of RSPB vision and work.

Essential skills, knowledge and experience:

• Understanding of fundraising and donor/supporter motivations and how to build cases for support.
• Able to articulate understanding of GDPR and data protection relating to funder/supporter information and how to use a fundraising database such as Raisers Edge, Care or Salesforce.
• Solutions-focused approach, with the ability to overcome set-backs in order to get the right outcome for the RSPB.
• Proven excellent writing and presentation skills.
• Budget management.
• Able to interpret complex information and communicate it simply to target audiences.

Camps) and external (UK and worldwide) programmes and services meet our customer and
client promises through effective delivery of our people, programmes and equipment. We
have a high level of responsibility and trust for the effective oversight of a large volume of
children, seasonal staff, and a national venue portfolio.

We're looking for a Programme & Training Lead who can take specific responsibility for our
programme delivery, ensuring 500+ seasonal staff across the UK are trained, equipped and
ready to start work with children. The Programme & Training Lead will be a practitioner
who contributes to training content, but also responds effectively to questions from
different stakeholders, responding to accidents, incidents and complaints, and who will
organise and deliver in-person promotional events. This role will need someone who is
ready to respond to last minute and unforeseen change and is open to a high level of UK
travel.

Key responsibilities

Plan

1. Work with the Operations Manager to agree programme outcome requirements per
season and per year
2. Schedule in-person programme delivery including people, programme content and
equipment
3. Plan for the delivery of pre-camp training
4. Schedule camp support visits
5. Create training schedules and content for programme personnel

Prepare

1. Work with the Operations Manager to prepare in-person programme and training
content
2. Produce and update resources for Kings Camps Managers and Red Tops
3. Work with warehouse personnel to prepare equipment for programmes and activities
if needed
4. Train and organise representatives to deliver initiatives across the UK
5. Share information both internally and externally regarding operational details and
practicalities such as facility information, children’s needs or any other information
pertinent to the running of camp

Deliver

1. Point of contact and support for newly-appointed Red Tops, providing information
and venue-specific guidance
2. Coordinate and deliver in-person and online training for programme personnel,
preparing them for their roles and responsibilities
3. Promote and run in-person activities and support to help launch new venues and
teams or drive growth in existing venues
4. Support Regional Managers to ensure programme audits are completed and work
with Camp Managers to ensure we maintain the service levels we promise
5. Share responsibility for performance management of Red Tops
6. Share responsibility for the response, management and reporting of programme
incidents, behaviour concerns, health and safety, and safeguarding

Person Specification

A qualification or background relating to teaching or sports coaching
At least 2 years’ activity programme experience, leading and delivering activities to
children
Previous experience of organising or hosting promotional events would be highly
advantageous
Training or experience in safeguarding children in a sports or education setting
Training and mentoring experience
Full UK driver’s licence (essential)
Must be able to communicate effectively with a wide variety of people in different roles
Ability to build effective working relationships quickly
Effective problem solver
Excellent all-round IT skills - must be competent in the use of MS Office suite

Some of the Key Responsibilities:

• Coordinate service and subcontractor meetings, including scheduling, preparing agendas, distributing papers, and taking accurate minutes with clear actions (in-person or via Teams).
