Community Fundraising Officer – Temporary Position from May 24 for 6 months (£24-25k)

Remote working with regular travel to the West Midlands and London as required

We’re building our new fundraising team and this temporary role will play an important part in accelerating our ambitious plans to increase annual income during 2024/25.

You will become the fourth member of the Fundraising Team (there are 3 full time staff) and will help to support the fundraising team.

Sepsis is the immune system’s overreaction to an infection or injury. There are over 245,000 cases each year in the UK with approximately 48,000 deaths. UKST aims to reduce preventable deaths from this ‘killer’ condition. We achieve this by:

· Raising awareness

· Supporting those affected by sepsis

· Educating health professionals

· Lobbying political organisations for better sepsis and severe infection care

Key Responsibilities

1. Deliver supporter journeys i.e. fundraising resources and stewardship communications to maximise supporter numbers, retention and engagement.

2. Use UKST’s CRM system (Raiser’s Edge) to accurately capture fundraiser information and key data contributing to the improved development and implementation of fundraising processes.

3. Communicate proactively and effectively with team members to pass on all relevant information, deliver excellent supporter care and to maximise fundraising opportunities. 

4. Provide excellent customer service members of the public, either via phone, mail and in person, help to develop Fundraising activity whilst also offering our Support Services where necessary.

5. Represent the charity as and when required in schools, local businesses, and community groups, including speaking at events if – not essential

6. Keep up to date with best practice in fundraising and ensure compliance with the latest legislation and guidelines.

7. Assist in prioritising & managing enquiries about our Community Fundraising Programme via our dedicated inboxes.

8. Work collaboratively with the fundraising team and our Communications and Marketing Team to ensure maximum press and social media coverage is obtained for UKST’s community fundraising activities.

Day to day activities will include:

1. Managing an inbox and replying to enquiries in a timely and professional manner

1. Problem solving for fundraisers – finding the optimum way they can achieve their goals

2. Support the Event Team Lead with sending out merchandise

2. Download Giving reports and send thank yous to donors and fundraisers

3. Record Supporter details on CRM

4. Cover for holiday periods and manage an inbox in their absence

To be successful in this role you will have:

1. Experience of working in fundraising in a UK registered charity

2. Experience of donor relationship management using a fundraising CRM.

3. An understanding of community fundraising.

4. A proven track record of working effectively in a team.

5. Excellent communication, presentation and organisational skills.

6. The ability to prioritise diverse workloads and meet shifting demands.

7. Flexibility to work evening and weekends as necessary and travel when required.

Your primary responsibilities will include:

• To work as part of a multi-disciplinary team providing personalised support and group based activities to people accessing our Day Opportunities service in Wandsworth.
• To apply a collegiate approach to deliver strengths based support that maximises independence, knowledge and confidence of those using our services.
• To provide a key point of reference for information and support to those using the services and professionals and carers dependent on it.
• To work from one of our day centres based in Tooting or Southfields and to key work specified individuals and act as a primary contact for the families, carers and other key professionals

Sibling Arts C.I.C. co-creates multi-arts projects with queer, trans, sex worker & migrant communities. Looking for a Finance & Administration Officer (FAO to lead on our financial and administrative needs, and grow with us as we do more ambitious projects with social impact at their core.

Roles and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Financial Strategy and Management

• Co-creating and monitoring budgets, org-wide and for projects

• Monitoring multiple income streams inc. sales, grants, investments

• Co-designing core/project accounting ledgers to facilitate reporting and monitor metrics

• Streamlining and automating systems, training staff in how to use them

• Support the process of becoming a C.I.O. and adapting finance and reporting systems for new level of requirements

• Managing cashflow and reserves to manage risk.

Reporting

• Reporting to HMRC, Companies House and the Charity Commission

• Liaising with our accountant to get the best systems in place for ease and accuracy of reporting and accounting

• Reporting to multiple funders with different priorities and expense restrictions

• Creating an automated financial reporting system that tracks costs across core, projects, and different funding streams for each

• Overseeing compliance with HMRC including VAT, PAYE and accessing tax benefits such as Theatre Tax Relief (TTR) alongside our accountant.

Administration

• Compiling and digitising receipts and invoices

• Setting up staff and project producer expense accounts where necessary

• Liaising with banking and ensuring staff access to online and card payment

• Creating and using new reference administrative reference systems and filing systems.

Human Resources

• Communicating with our community members, artists and staff about invoicing requirements and payment details, mindful of individuals’ complex needs

• Overseeing setup and budgeting of employment benefits, bonuses, commission, freelance contracts and how to integrate these

• Overseeing creation of a platform for communicating financials transparently to our community of marginalised artists (longer term)

Funding Support

• Note: this is a support role as one of the Artistic Directors will spearhead new funding applications, you will not be applying independently

• Researching and identifying new funding streams, archiving applications, making templates

• Seeking advice from current funders and NGO partners about where to apply

• Tracking funding applications, reporting deadlines, meeting financial requirements

• Following-up on investors, scheduling regular communications with Artistic Directors.
   

Essential skills and requirements

• Proficiency with Mac and Windows 

• Right to work in the UK

• Three years’ experience in a similar role, ideally in the charity, arts, or activism sector

• Strong ICT skills including relevant accounting/reporting software and G-Suite

• An excellent eye for detail and consistency

• Experience of payroll processes

• Experience of reporting to funders and HMRC

• Autonomy and ability to work effectively under own initiative

• Strong verbal communications skills, able to convey financial information to a non-financial audience

Desirable Skills, Knowledge and Experience

· Provide high quality information which reflects the most up to date research, clinical information and treatments, in a way people can understand. Conducting the research yourself and adapting your communication to suit the person you are supporting is key

· Offer coaching guidance to empower individuals, helping them to achieve the appropriate next steps

· Work in conjunction with the Volunteer Development Manager to recruit, train and manage volunteers who assist in delivering support services

· Lead on aspects of cross team projects and develop new resources that meet our community’s needs, while collaborating with other teams and external partners

· Identify gaps in knowledge across the Support Team and identify possible training areas

· Develop information for our website and other resources, for example, writing initial drafts and reviewing information

· Plan and facilitate online and in person events for the brain tumour community, including online meet ups for young adults

· Day to day management of our online peer support
platforms, for example our Facebook groups for Young Adults affected by a brain tumour diagnosis

· Update and maintain accurate contact information on the CRM database, producing data reports as required to evidence the impact and reach of our support services

· Identify, manage and escalate safeguarding concerns in line with The Charity guidelines

A rare breed of marketer/fundraiser and data analyst, with the unique ability to analyse and interpret data, you’ll be able to tell the insight stories needed to drive and evolve campaigns and develop new products.

You’ll have a natural curiosity to explore and interrogate all the data points available to us (both on and offline), being able to clearly communicate to non-technical colleagues at all levels.

You’ll have experience of working either as part of a marketing team or directly with marketers or fundraisers, and be able to pro-actively provide insights that deliver real change.

Key accountabilities:

Use insight and analysis to inform and guide the Fundraising and CX team:

· Work with the Head of CX to manage all campaign analysis and insight projects and ensure that interpretations of the findings and insights are delivered to the appropriate stakeholders in order to inform and drive future performance and strategies

· Manage the analysis of fundraising campaigns and products, working  closely with the relevant fundraising teams to identify key learning and make recommendations for future activity

· Build dashboards and ways of visualising data that fundraisers can use on a daily basis to track, report on and optimise their campaigns

· Work with others across the CX team to report against testing schedules and strategies

· Run segmentations as required for fundraising teams

· Ensure that completed insight is effectively disseminated to internal customers and that they understand and use it

· Work with the Head of CX to guide, plan and implement market research as required

· Work with the management team to ensure reporting, performance and insight is made available across the organisation for all key channels and activities eg website, CX journeys, email etc

· Stay current with legal and regulatory frameworks, including; Data Protection legislation and the Code of Fundraising Practice, to ensure that all campaigns comply with current email best practice in the industry.

The role

MIND in Haringey and its partner Public Voice delivers the Voluntary and Community (VCS) Capacity Building contract commissioned by the London Borough of Haringey. As Community Engagement Officer you will play a key role in ensuring the Foundation achieves its objectives of engaging with and increasing physical activity levels amongst the four key priority groups facing the greatest inequalities: low socio-economic groups, women and girls, disabled people and people with long term health conditions, and culturally diverse communities. This will predominantly be achieved through the critical support you will provide to our ambitious PlayZones Programme, as we continue to roll the programme out across priority areas of the Country.

We have an ambition to deliver in excess of 200 PlayZone facilities by 2025. To realise this ambition, we’re going to focus on investing in safe, inclusive, and accessible facilities in communities with the greatest need. We will tackle inequalities in physical activity levels and create inclusive opportunities for our priority groups to become active through recreational formats of football and other sports and activities.

With a great deal to do, the role will be pivotal in working with local groups to support them through the application process, and to ensure high quality projects are being developed based on local community need.

The role sits within the Football Foundation’s Delivery Team, the team responsible for strategic identification and capital project delivery, reporting to the Community Engagement Lead and with responsibility for a portfolio of PlayZone programme areas within one of the Delivery Team geographical regions.

Contract: Full-time, permanent (though we are open to considering applications from those who want to work on a part-time or job-share basis)

Key Responsibilities

You will work on a wide variety of tasks which will include bookkeeping and bank reconciliations, as well as providing general administrative support to the team. You will be comfortable working both independently and collaboratively across a diverse international team.

Finance

Taking charge of day-to-day financial activities and administration:

· Processing invoices and staff expenses for authorisation and payment

· Dealing with supplier queries

· Managing weekly payment run process

· Processing credit card expenses

· Recording all income and expenditure in QuickBooks

· Maintaining all supporting documents for any transactions posted onto QuickBooks

· Reconciling bank and credit card statements

· Assisting with month end procedures including balance sheet reconciliations

· Processing donations arriving in post

· Other finance administration tasks as necessary

General Administration

Take responsibility for providing efficient and effective administrative support across a range of business functions, including HR and IT. For example:

· Managing and maintaining business related systems, for example our online HR system and SharePoint

· Using templates to prepare standard paperwork

· Recruitment, new joiner and training administration

· Arranging meetings and notetaking

Person specification

This is primarily a finance role so the successful candidate will need to have experience of finance administration and basic bookkeeping. Experience of other areas, such as HR or IT, is not essential as training will be given. You will have excellent time management skills and the ability to prioritise a busy workload and work both independently and collaboratively across a diverse international team.

· Experience of finance administration

· Experience of basic book-keeping

· Experience using financial software, for example Quickbooks or similar

· Proficient with using Microsoft 365 (or transferable skills in similar packages)

· Strong written and verbal communication skills

· Excellent organisation, time management and multi-tasking skills with the ability to prioritise and plan a busy workload. 

· Able to build relationships with a variety of people, including suppliers, donors and staff

· Ability to work effectively with colleagues globally across cultural differences

· Commitment to the Social Model of Disability and a rights-based approach to development.

• To work as part of a diverse and experienced team providing personalised support, advice and advocacy to people living independently or in supported accomodation.
• To apply a collegiate approach to deliver strengths based support that maximises independence, knowledge and confidence of those using our services.
• To provide a key point of reference for information and support to those using the services and professionals and carers dependent on it.
• To work independently across the boroughs we operate in, with people in their homes or in accessing support and resources across the community.
