As the Trusts and Foundations Manager, you'll be at the forefront of our fundraising efforts, generating income through grant applications to fuel our essential programs and pioneering pilot initiatives. You'll be the driving force behind building strong relationships with grant-giving bodies, family foundations, and corporate supporters, crafting compelling proposals that secure vital funding.

Previous grant writing experience is not essential, but the successful candidate will have well honed writing skills and the ability to pitch proposals to a variety of audiences.

The Income Generation and Communications department is a small team, working flexibly to support the charity’s frontline services. From time to time, you will need to represent the charity at events, support bids for contracts, and meet potential corporate and individual supporters. This will mean occasionally working evenings, weekends or on your non-working days. We’ll give you notice of when this is required and you’ll be able to claim your time back.

This role can be office based or predominantly remote to suit you (albeit there will be times when you need to be in Billericay or elsewhere in Essex). We’re open to negotiating the working pattern with the successful candidate, to be as flexible as possible.

In order to be successful in this role you must have:

• Full driving license. Able to drive Hamelin vehicles as well as use of own car
• Experience of writing professionally and persuasively
• Experience of working across teams and influencing other Managers  
• Experience of presenting complex information for a variety of audiences

• Formal qualification or training in bid writing, marketing, grant applications or other fundraising disciplines

About the Role

Through our range of programmes, we work to inspire and empower young people, whatever their background to succeed in work and life. A unique opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated and enthusiastic individual to manage the delivery of our EDI programmes and have a real impact on the participation of underrepresented groups in our programmes, as well as building on our established position within the skills sector.

The ideal candidate will have experience in developing, managing and evaluating senior stakeholder relationships with external networks. With a proven track record of consistently delivering projects and programmes with high-quality results, the successful candidate will have up to date ED&I knowledge and demonstrable experience of raising the profile of an organisation within this setting.  The candidate will be experienced in development of programmes and partnerships to suit delivery of strategic objectives, and be able to project manage internal colleagues to deliver against set KPIs.

The successful candidate will have a passion for working within a charity that focuses on developing young people from all backgrounds, and will have the experience, knowledge and understanding to drive forward EDI in external facing programmes.

Role purpose

The purpose of this role is to lead, develop and deliver WorldSkills UK’s external Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (ED&I) programmes supported by stakeholder engagement strategies across our network of industry, education and government. The role will ensure that we engage external stakeholders to help deliver our ambition to be a leader, partner and ally in creating positive change for ED&I in the skills sector.

Key tasks and responsibilities

1. Deliver positive action activity for change:

• Support the development and delivery of WorldSkills UK’s external ED&I strategy. Ensure it is fit for purpose, has recognised long term goals and will deliver measurable change, reflecting organisational priorities around increased engagement with ethnic minority groups and females. Provide an overarching framework and help further develop strategic KPIs for our ED&I work, ensuring effective use of data, monitoring progress and performance.
• Work with the Senior Strategic Partnerships Manager to develop action plans that will drive our continuous improvement:
  • Support our skills competition development programmes to increase the diversity of young people engaged
  • Support the development of role models to showcase the impact of our work and encourage diversity in key areas of industry, including future priority skill areas
  • Support the development of learning resources that aid engagement with underrepresented groups
  • Support teams to ensure ED&I matters are considered and addressed as key components of all strategies, plans and programmes.

2. Manage the ED&I Advisory Group:

• This is a unique opportunity to work with experienced and prominent senior individuals from across education and industry who are invested in driving the agenda for ED&I.
• Lead the administration and ongoing development of our Equity, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) Advisory Group.
• Engage the Group to help support, advise and challenge WorldSkills UK on its actions to remove obstacles and barriers faced by young people from under-represented backgrounds in our programmes.
• Report regularly to the Group on progress against KPI’s and facilitate reports for the WorldSkills UK Board.

3. Project Manage the ED&I Heroes Awards

• The Awards is an established flagship event which provides a platform for WorldSkills UK to celebrate success with its partners, amplify best practice and inspire others to drive change across the skills systems in education and business.
• Project manage delivery of the annual Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion Heroes Awards, supported by relevant internal teams
  • Establish the nominations process
  • Co-ordinate the judging panel
  • Organise the awards ceremony
  • Manage the support of the awards partners.

4. Manage strategic relationships

• Manage a portfolio of ED&I focused Strategic Partnerships with organisations from across the skills sector, facilitating their support and engagement with our EDI programmes.
• Grow our network of partners to widen our reach, help further drive work in this area and collectively impact on the sector.
• Advise and support the development of the CEO’s international activities on ED&I with WorldSkills International (WSI).

5. Raise the profile of WorldSkills UK’s ED&I work:

• Work with teams across the organisation to support our Mission to ignite a national and global movement to help more young people, regardless of their background, get the best possible start in work and life.
• Support the Senior Strategic Partnerships Manager and Marketing and Communications Team to showcase the impact of our programmes:
  • Help to externally profile and articulate the value and impact of our activities using the channels and tools available
  • Seek opportunities to advocate for our work through stakeholder engagement and networking
  • Support the Corporate Partnerships team to identify and secure commercial income related to our ED&I initiatives.
  • Work across the organisation to build on existing external relationships and develop new strategic partnerships that reinforce our position as a skills sector leader.

6. Internal ED&I Liaison:

• Whilst not responsible for WorldSkills UK’s internal ED&I activities and agenda it is anticipated that the post holder will spend up to 10% of their time supporting and working with the Corporate Affairs team on internal ED&I matters, with the remaining 90% spent on external work.
• It is not essential that the postholder has extensive experience in this area.

7. General

In addition to the key tasks and responsibilities set out above, all employees at this level are expected to:

• Produce requirement specifications in line with WorldSkills UK’s procurement strategies for all outsourced activity.
• Maintain WorldSkills UK’s established management policies for dealing with risks and issues for the Corporate Partnerships team and the wider organisation.
• Contribute to the successful delivery of WorldSkills UK’s strategic priorities and annual business objectives.

This role is office based (as above) but with flexible hybrid working. It is expected the postholder will attend the office at least once or twice a week.

Main duties and responsibilities of the role:

Your duties will include, but not be limited to:

· Responsibility for inputting into and executing operational plans, and for the operational performance, of the health and safety of the organisation.

· Develop, implement, and maintain comprehensive health and safety policies and procedures.

What we are looking for:

· NEBOSH Diploma or degree in occupational health and safety.

Additional Information:

Ways of working: As part of our Agile ways of working you will be required to work approximately 2 days a week from the office, which is subject to the requirements of the role and the business needs. Flexibility on where you work can be split between working from home and our office.

Finance and operations manager – Job Description 

We are seeking a thoughtful, compassionate, and experienced finance and operations manager.  This is a new role in an expanding team that will contribute to the senior leadership of the organisation and be responsible for overseeing day-to-day operations of the charity, with a focus on financial management.  
Our new Finance and Operations Manager will work closely with the CEO to set and manage the organisation’s strategic plan, drive strategic initiatives, manage resources, and foster a positive and reflective workplace culture. 

Key Responsibilities 

1. Leadership and Team Management  

• Embody the values of The Magpie Project and support the CEO to maintain the core vision and principles of the organisation in all its activities. 

• Support the CEO in overseeing the day-to-day activities of the charity, including deputising for her when appropriate. 

• Cultivate strong relationships with stakeholders (donors, community partners, other non-profit organisations), and identify opportunities for collaboration and partnership to enhance the organisation’s impact and reach. 

• Represent The Magpie Project externally where appropriate. 

• Foster a positive and reflective workplace culture that values diversity, inclusion, and continuous improvement. 

• Implement best practices and internal systems to ensure efficiency and effectiveness. 

• Line-manage three staff members – Kitchen Manager, Donations Manager, and Fundraising Manager – in accordance with existing support and supervision structure. 

1. Financial Management 

• Oversee day-to-day financial operations, including all incoming and outgoing payments and invoices, and maintain accurate records in line with financial best practise. 

• Develop and manage the annual budget and produce management accounts to provide regular reports to the CEO and board of trustees throughout the year. 

• Prepare accurate and timely financial reports for donors. 

• Coordinate annual financial audits and ensure timely submission of annual accounts to the Charity Commission. 

• Maintain financial policies and procedures to ensure internal controls are compliant with relevant accounting standards, regulations, and reporting requirements. 

• Monitor and manage cash flow to ensure sufficient funds are available for day-to-day operations and strategic initiatives, identifying and mitigating potential risks. 

• Liaise with off-site payroll provider and make monthly payroll payments. 

• Oversee management of petty cash, including ensuring there is sufficient petty cash to cover travel money and emergency grants expenses at sessions.

• Develop and oversee processes for the distribution of emergency hardship grants, in line with donor expectations and best practice in record keeping. 

1. Operational Management 

• Support the CEO in the strategic direction and operational management of the charity, including planning, service design, programme management, HR, and workforce development. 

• Develop and maintain relevant internal policies. 

• Lead on risk management within the organisation, identifying potential risks and developing strategies to mitigate them.

• Maintain relationships with external suppliers including DBS service providers, insurers, telephone and internet, banking, and software technicians. 

Person Specification 

• Experience in a senior finance role in a charity, including budgeting, forecasting, and day-to-day financial management. 

• Specific knowledge of charity regulation and financial compliance with the charity commission and other regulators. 

• High level of interpersonal and emotional intelligence to enable a trauma informed, reflective and calm working environment. 

• Experience overseeing or supporting internal operations, including line-management, preferably within a charity. 

• Experience of strategic planning, with the ability to think critically and creatively. 

• Willingness to engage in co-production and co-design to include those with lived experience in all levels of planning, service design and governance, a bonus. 

• Ability to build positive relationships with external stakeholders at every level.

Ways of Working:

Chalk Farm Tenant Management Organisation (TMO) is looking for a competent leader with a passion for social housing to manage our housing organisation.

Located close to the historic Camden Market, the TMO provides housing services and community activities for residents of the estate. Sustainably funded by Camden Council long term, this is an ideal opportunity for a candidate with experience in management and a real interest in social housing, who values the autonomy of working in a small and close knit organisation.

As estate manager, your main duties will be to:

1. Give the TMO the strategy it needs to deliver an excellent housing service for residents.

About the role 

We're looking for a highly motivated and skilled Bid Manager who can actively craft commercial tender submissions and work with the team to ensure we submit high-quality, winning bids within UK government procurement rules.

You will sit in the Business and Strategy directorate and lead bid-writing across the organisation, line-managing a team of Bid Writers and working closely with other colleagues across Business Development, Marketing and Operations.

This position is a full-time, 35 hours a week, permanent contract with a starting salary between £44,500 - £50,000 per annum depending on skills and experience. Person specifications

The Monitoring & Rights Manager should hold a Master's Degree in law, anthropology, or international development, with 3 to 5 years of project management experience in charity or international development. Fluency in English and French is required, with a strong grasp of forest governance and human rights issues, particularly in West and Central Africa.

Essential skills include leadership, strategic thinking, negotiation, and financial management, alongside proficiency in Microsoft Office.

The Supporter Relations Team plays a pivotal role in building relationships with our supporters and assisting our fundraising team to raise vital funds that will support our mission to beat blood cancer within a generation. The main purpose of this role is to lead and develop the Supporter Relations Team to deliver excellent customer service to our supporters from the beginning of their journey with Blood Cancer UK.
