Job description

St Peter & St James Hospice is a rewarding organisation to work for. We are proud to support our local community in the heart of Sussex providing specialist care to adults living with terminal illness and supporting families, friends and carers. We are set in 36 acres of beautiful countryside including ancient woodland; our environment makes a positive contribution to the wellbeing of staff and volunteers, as do our donkeys, Dylan and Dudley and resident cats, Jasper and Willow.

PROJECT COORDINATOR - COMPASSIONATE NEIGHBOURS: This is a funded fixed term contract until September 2020.

Part-time, 22.5 hours per week over 3 days.  £25,000 FTE (£15,000 pro rata)

You will need your own transport to make community visits.

Compassionate Neighbours is free, community-led support for people nearing the end of life through age or illness, or who are lonely or socially isolated. Compassionate Neighbours can really make a difference; they are a network of trained local people who are willing to offer their time, companionship and support to people living in their community.

As Project co-ordinator you will have significant experience of community development and project management and will be used to delivering tight deadlines and project milestones. You will be responsible for managing the relationships between the hospice, the Compassionate Neighbours, beneficiaries and the organisation leading on recruitment and training. You will be people-focused, quick to act and deliver and able to compile data and write succinct reports.

You will need to have experience of working with local people and preferably have experience of end of life care issues. Ideally you will have experience of working in vulnerable people’s homes and working with people with multiple complex issues. You will be confident in representing the project and the hospice to external groups at all levels.
