Every day, young people who have experienced homelessness need more than just housing—they need opportunities to develop skills, confidence, and community connections. As our client's Youth Engagement Worker, you'll design and deliver engaging programmes that transform lives, helping vulnerable young people build the foundations for independent living and future success.

This job is about unlocking potential. You'll work across their Pathways and Foyer services, creating meaningful activities and workshops for 16–25-year-olds who are developing their independent living skills. Through engaging activities and strong community partnerships, you'll help young people overcome barriers to education, employment, and wellbeing while building the confidence they need to thrive beyond supported housing.

What you'll be doing

• You'll split your 4 days per week between The Foyer (for 18-25 year olds) and Pathways (for 16-21 year olds with medium to high support needs)
• You'll design and deliver structured workshops covering employment, education, independent living skills, wellbeing, and community building
•  You'll work two evenings per week until 7pm, alternating between Thursday free food events at The Foyer and engagement activities at Pathways
• You'll build relationships with partners, employers, charities, and educational institutions to create opportunities for residents
• You'll continue and expand the Youth Power Project, ensuring young people's voices inform services and our client's strategic priorities
• You'll collaborate with the Resident Engagement team to consult with young people on topics affecting their lives
• You'll gather outcome data and use insights to continuously improve your programme offerings

About the Role

• Located at a 24-hour supported housing service in Clapham, we provide high quality self-contained accommodation for 15 women who have experienced homelessness and multiple disadvantage.  
• The aim of the service is to provide a therapeutic environment in which women feel safe and can flourish, enabling them to move on into independent, permanent accommodation. The accommodation also includes overnight safe spaces.
• In this role, you will provide support to all the women, including running co-designed activities and accompanying women to appointments.
• You will work closely with Specialist Support Workers who manage individual resident support and safety plans.
• You will model person-led, psychological, gender, and culturally informed support, will be skilled at building trust and you will be a great team player.
• You will undertake 8-hour shifts on a 7-day rota, covering the hours 07:45 am to 20:15 pm. Please be aware that the building has several floors and no lifts.

The Role

You will be a part of the youth service working on the local council sites and a community centre in Wakefield and Bradford, where you will build trusted relationships with young members (age range 5 to 17). Working with families living on site, with some engagement (outreach) of young people living on yards, in houses and potentially roadside. You will get to know them, their goals, talents and challenges and together with them, you will build an ongoing programme of activities.

The youth work programme through weekly group work and regular 1-1 sessions, covers such key issues and topics such as mental health, education, relationships, staying safe, human rights and future hopes. The sessions are planned around building key core skills such as building confidence, leadership and team building skills, positive communication and joint decision making.

The youth service supports young people to be less isolated, have better connections to opportunities, have greater pride and the opportunity to celebrate their ethnicity and pride. Developing partnerships with organisations who can bring their projects to our young people and support them to access opportunities off site.

About You

You will be confident to work in a busy, fast paced, community facing environment that is committed to person-centred working, with active listening skills and an empathetic approach.  You will be resilient and adaptable, and enjoy working in a role with competing priorities and deadlines.

• Have at least 2 years experience of working with young people, either as an employee, volunteer.

Job Advert

As an Arts Psychotherapist you will promote the recovery of young people and vulnerable adults following a disclosure of child sexual abuse and/or domestic abuse by reducing the emotional, psychological and physical symptoms of child abuse through the provision of early intervention therapeutic assessment, psycho-education, strategies for acute stress symptoms and interventions. This work will be undertaken following pre-trial therapy guidelines until the client has completed the Criminal Justice Process.

• Maintain a caseload and provide accurate, timely and concise electronic records using our online database CharityLog. Ensure record keeping adheres to pre-trial therapy guidelines.
• Provide information to young people and vulnerable adults regarding the impact of the trauma of sexual abuse and/or domestic abuse, the potential for recovery and the promotion of prevention
• Consider and respond to child safeguarding issues when engaging with all children and young people, adhere to the Nottingham City and County Safeguarding Board policies in all assigned work and actively promote children’s best interests. This will involve working alongside people who are experiencing homelessness and bad housing to identify issues facing local communities.  You will plan and deliver casework to individuals and communities to resolve their housing situation, networking and engaging with community groups, local organisations and individuals to understand local housing issues and raise awareness of housing rights.

About You

You will have the ability to listen to, engage and work with individuals and communities and with all stakeholders, including running group workshops and presentations. You have experience, knowledge of and/or proven ability in housing and homelessness advice and advocacy, with the ability to progress to specialist level knowledge. You will be able to carry out casework related interviews, maintaining detailed case records and offering advice and support to clients so they can make informed decisions as well as deliver group workshops and presentations.

We are seeking a driven and dedicated Lead Community Advice Worker to join our community advocacy and advice service centred on the community that gathers in Gillett Square in Dalston, Hackney. About Side by Side

Our Side by Side service has developed through several years of outreach on Gillett Square in Dalston. Recognising that many in the community that gathers there face severe disadvantages on multiple levels yet rarely seek support, we set about getting to know people, listening to their stories, and slowly building trust whilst offering practical help, advice and support. Now, our community advice workers are considered part of the community themselves and without hesitation, people refer themselves and their friends, neighbours and families to us for support. 

The Role

As our Lead Community Advice Worker, you will provide holistic advice, advocacy, and practical support to people connected to the marginalised and excluded Gillett Square community in Dalston. You will help them access essential services, navigate welfare benefits and housing issues, and challenge decisions they believe are unjust. You will also provide guidance and supervision to one Community Advice Worker. This role involves occasional outreach in Gillett Square and through home visits.

The role is offered on a part-time, 4 day week basis (0.8 FTE) with a salary of £36,050 pro rata per annum.

• Experience in supporting people with complex lives who face multiple disadvantages and social exclusion. 

• A proven ability to build trust and positive relationships with individuals who may be distrustful of services.
