Age UK Wandsworth is an independent local charity. We've been working in the local community to help older people for over 60 years. We have dedicated staff and over 300 volunteers helping us to deliver services and activities for older people in Wandsworth.

A rare opportunity has arisen to join our caring and experienced day centre team as a driver and support worker. You will be driving clients to and from their homes each day in our minibus and then working with them at the centre during the day.

You will be assisting older people and/or vulnerable adults to improve or maintain their overall wellbeing and stay independent for longer whilst enabling them to retain, gain or regain independence.

Could you help

· To provide assistance with personal care and support, daily living tasks or with activities to clients within our day centre.

· To drive clients to and from their homes and the day centre.

Both full-time and part-time roles are available.

Please note that a clean driving licence is essential for this role. You will need a D1 driving licence or we can train you to drive one of our mini-buses.

We are seeking to appoint someone on a 12-month fixed term contract as maternity cover, to join our Grants Team in delivering The Ideas Fund, an exciting programme which looks to connect communities with researchers in order to develop and try out ideas related to mental wellbeing. The Fund is delivered in four areas of the UK – Oldham, Hull, the Highlands and Islands of Scotland, and North West Northern Ireland, although this role can be remote, based anywhere in the UK.

With support from the Head of Grants, we expect that you will have lead responsibility for our work in two of these areas, building strong relationships with our Development Co-ordinators and contributing to the successful delivery of the overall programme. You will oversee the support for grant holders to learn from what is working and feed this learning into our overall approach with the Fund, as well as sharing insights externally. Key responsibilities

The main responsibilities of this role are to:

• Work with the Head of Grants to deliver an innovative programme that constantly evolves based on what we learn.
• Deliver excellent grant-making using relational, flexible and participatory approaches.
• Design and implement high-quality assessment, due diligence and grant management processes, continually reviewing and refining the approach.
• Support the assessment and delivery of a portfolio of ‘evidence building’ grants, with projects due to begin in January 2025.
• Design and implement learning and evaluation strategies and processes, reviewing and refining as needed. Manage relationships and/or contracts with learning partners where appropriate.
• Support local Development Coordinators to:
  • Ensure the programme’s aim of supporting underserved communities is fulfilled and the grants budget is committed.

  • Work with grant holders, collaborating researchers and project partners to overcome challenges they might face in delivering their projects.
  • Collate and share local learning as part of an evidence building and practice sharing strategy, which is currently in development.
• Develop and manage a small pipeline of discretionary ‘infrastructure’ grants to add value to the portfolio and/or make systemic impact at local or national level, if necessary.
• Develop bespoke application and grant management and learning processes as appropriate.
• Work with the Head of Grants to devise a learning and development plan for the Grants Team.
• Build and engage a network of key stakeholders to ensure successful delivery of the programme.
• Champion innovation in supporting community/researcher collaboration, community-led research, systems change and grant-making across relevant sectors including:
  • Sharing learning, practice and ideas with a broad range of stakeholders through a range of approaches.
  • Representing the British Science Association at external events to share innovation and learning.
  • Develop and deliver events and/or content to showcase practice.
• Support the Head of Grants with developing the BSA’s strategy around future grants programmes. 

In addition, the post-holder will be expected to:

• Support colleagues across the organisation, especially at busy times or on specific areas of expertise.

The Client Support Worker targets those who need the Foodbank on a repeated basis and offers a package of support to address the complex and often overwhelming challenges and crisis situations they are facing.  You will work with clients to give time, advice, advocacy and emotional support as well as providing personalised support.  This could include assisting them to access help with finances, debt, social isolation and other issues and connect them with other local projects which may be relevant. You will also work closely with the referral agencies who issue Foodbank vouchers.

•  Client Engagement: Sit down with visitors and engage in conversation with them.  Offer a listening ear and signpost clients, as required, to further support using your knowledge of the local environment. 

• Client Support:  Develop individual plans for clients to assist them through next steps.  Act as an advocate where appropriate, assisting with phone calls, form filling and appointments.  Accompany clients to other projects as required.

•  Administration: Understand and complete the administrative processes for referrals and applying for various grants

• Signposting: Proactively explore the local support offering, build relationships and add useful resources to the signposting folder and disseminate to the centre teams regularly

• Centre Culture:  Work alongside the Centre Coordinators and volunteers to make foodbank visitors feel welcome

• Volunteer Support: Support volunteers in centres to increase their skills and knowledge

The Senior Multiple Needs Independent Domestic Violence Advisor (IDVA) will work within a dynamic, crisis intervention, advocacy and support service based at the CGL Ealing Women’s Wellness Zone.  The IDVA will provide support in the local community and at the Ealing Women’s Wellness Zone.  The successful candidate will be co-located up to 5 days a week at the Women’s Wellness Zone.

The IDVA will be closely working alongside CGL colleagues/team to deliver support to women with a range of complex support needs including substance misuse, mental health, domestic abuse, sex working, trafficking, and offending behaviour. The IDVA will work in collaboration with their team members to holistically support women in the borough of Ealing to achieve sustained recovery, improved health and wellbeing, helping women to manage/mitigate risks, and empowering them to reach their fullest potential in society as well as ensuring the voice of survivors informs every stage of the process.

The Senior Multiple Needs IDVA will assess the needs and risks of survivors, carry out short and longer-term risk management, safety planning and support. As well as identify and refer to services appropriate to their needs. They will also proactively advocate and advice women of their rights and options for seeking help and support from other agencies, encouraging them to engage with other agencies, and help co-ordinate the provision of multi-agency support where necessary.

About You:

 

To be successful as the Senior Multiple Needs IDVA you will need to have:

Excellent understanding of domestic abuse and its effects on women and children, of best practice in supporting survivors of domestic abuse, and of the MARAC. As well as understanding of drug and alcohol issues and experience of working within a related field.

Bringing your experience of risk and needs assessment, safety and support planning, and crisis planning and successfully managing high numbers of referrals and experience of working in a co-located setting with another agency and providing consultations/briefings to professionals to support in upskilling them around Domestic Abuse. The candidate will have experience of partnership working and of maintaining excellent working relationships with a range of stakeholders.

Our client is working with the Primary Care Network (PCN), Bromley by Bow Health & Stepney Health CIC, to improve access to social welfare advice and help meet the needs of some of the most vulnerable patients and families locally.

The role will provide social welfare advice to people referred into the Centre’s Social Prescribing service. The role will focus on what matters to the individual and take a holistic approach, providing welfare benefits, housing, debt, food and energy advice.

The Social Prescribing Advice Link Worker will refer to agencies at a specialist level including immigration, legal advice and debt as well as support individuals to access a range of services and activities in their local communities.

The role will build collaborative relationships with GP practice staff, including the delivery of social welfare advice training to enable them to identify and connect people experiencing hardship with the support they need to improve their circumstances and prevent problems developing into issues of hardship and crisis.

The role will help shape the Centre’s Social Prescribing service so that it reflects the changing environment and helps reduce health inequalities locally.

Are you passionate about making a difference in your community? We’re looking for a proactive, dynamic, enthusiastic and entrepreneurial individual to help develop and grow our networks of supporters in the West Midlands. You will have a good knowledge of the area and connections with local areas in this vicinity.

Ideally, you will be a warm and friendly communicator, and have experience of working in a relationship fundraising role, with experience of recruiting and engaging new supporters and volunteers and cultivating existing relationships through events and community outreach activity. 
 
You will have genuine drive and innovative approach to fundraising engagement, to deliver results and your exceptional communication skills will enable you to thrive in a busy, fast paced team, whilst also being able to work on your own to go that extra mile to make the difference.
 
Reporting into the community, events fundraising manager, you will be responsible for creating and maintaining valuable lifetime relationships with individuals and organisations, and volunteers developing new opportunities, and maximise engagement in existing products. 
 
This is a great opportunity to play a key part in developing and delivering fundraising growth for an underrepresented charity with a compelling cause and strong ambitions to deliver more for kidney patients sooner. 
 
In this role, you will utilise new and emerging technologies to communicate with both supporters and colleagues through various channels. 
 
The role will involve travel when necessary to our Head Office in Peterborough, and events across the UK, (which may involve evenings and weekend work, for which time off in lieu will be given),  support individual fundraising activity, or to explore new opportunities and meet with your wider team. You must have a full driving licence and access to a vehicle.
