The role
As National Support Manager you will lead a team of five members, including Benefits and Welfare Officer, Counsellor and National Support Co-ordinators. This role is pivotal in the successful creation of a robust 3-year support strategy to deliver existing core support services and develop new ways to reach and support our members.
This role works closely with the CEO and Management team to achieve myaware’s objectives of providing support to our members, funding effective research and raising vital awareness of myasthenia.
Who are we looking for?
The successful candidate will have a minimum of 2 years experience of working within the charity/healthcare sectors and proven management experience.
A keen interest in or a knowledge/experience of charitable support provision is essential. We are a looking for an innovative self-starter to join our small national team of 20 staff. Who are we?
Myaware is the only charity in the UK dedicated solely to the care and support of people affected by myasthenia.
We are working hard to raise awareness of myasthenia, as it is a little-known condition. We provide support for people with myasthenia and their families, whilst offering advice and tips for living with the condition.
We also fund the research that brings us closer to finding a cure as well as funding specialists nurses and advisors.
Members of myaware have full access to a wide range of support services and events including our specialist benefits advisor and telephone or Skype counsellor.
Myaware supports people with myasthenia and their families. We campaign for better medical services for people with myasthenia and work to inform medical professionals.
The myasthenias are a group of neuromuscular conditions. They are rare but also manageable and can affect anyone, regardless of age, gender or nationality. Myasthenia gravis, ocular myasthenia and Lambert-Eaton myasthenic syndrome are autoimmune conditions whereas congenital myasthenic syndrome is caused by an inherited genetic fault. It is thought that there are approximately 12,000 people currently living with myasthenia in the UK.

We are looking for a talented individual to join the NCT Parents in Mind Coventry and Warwickshire team, coordinating the delivery of the perinatal mental health peer support across the area – initially until April 2023, but with the possibility of extension, subject to funding. This role is home-based but will include regular meetings (sometimes at short notice) across Coventry & Warwickshire, so the ability to travel and a flexible approach to working are essential. The post will be for 21 hours per week.
The post holder will use their excellent listening skills, sensitivity and empathy to liaise with service users, volunteer peer supporters and other services/professionals, ensuring that the peer support delivered in the service is safe and effective.
You must have excellent written and oral communication skills and be able to quickly create rapport with volunteers, service users, NCT practitioners and a range of staff from local services. An understanding of mental health support is also essential to the post. This is a complex project, so you must be able to confidently prioritise your own work, be highly organised and able to work independently. The post holder will be an ambassador for the service across the locality, so outstanding relationship building skills are vital. Good IT skills will also be required – including use of Outlook, Word and Excel. Ideally you will also have the skills to be able to engage with parents via social media.

This training requires lived experience/close support of another who has experienced mental health difficulties during the transition to parenthood, and the accredited training would be undertaken in addition to your paid hours.

About You

About the role
The Information Governance team are the champions of Data Protection and Information Governance within Alzheimer's Society. The Role
Reporting to the Service Delivery Lead, the Service Delivery Coach will empower Stroke Support Coordinators to take ownership for the continuous improvement of quality and consistency of the services we provide. Counsellor (Stroke Support)
This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced counsellor to join the Emotional Support Team in Cornwall. If a full time role is not for you, a blend of part time hours as well as flexible working is available. This will be discussed further at interview.
Position: Stroke Association Support Coordinator/Counsellor - Emotional Support
Location: Homebased, with regular travel across Cornwall. However, frequent travel will be required as part of this role (May include team meetings or other work related meetings)
Hours: 35 hours per week (potential for part time working)
Salary: Circa £27,300 per annum
Contract: This is a fixed term contract until 31 March 2025. Three years funding for this role has been provided from The Elwyn Thomas Memorial Fund, funding will expire 31 March 2025.

The Role
The project funded by the Elwyn Thomas Memorial Fund will deliver an Emotional Support Service as well as through collaborative community working, will result in valuable assets for the community, in the shape of self-sustaining peer and volunteer led support through groups, partnerships and activities.
Reporting to the Emotional Support Service Manager, the team will deliver a professional counselling service to stroke survivors, carers and relatives. Counselling sessions are designed to help clients to develop emotional resilience, readjust to life after stroke and prepare to reintegrate into community life.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Providing one to one counselling to stroke survivors, carers and relatives including those with communication or cognitive difficulties
- Providing counselling sessions in person, on-line or by telephone, throughout Cornwall
- Assessing the appropriateness of counselling for service users by providing emotional needs assessment sessions as well as using appropriate screening/evaluation tools (e.g. CORE)
- Managing risk and safeguarding issues in accordance with appropriate legal, ethical and organisational requirements.
About You
You will have:
- An advanced diploma in integrative, humanistic or person-centred counselling/psychotherapy; for example, BACP recognised course or equivalent (i.e. 450 hours’ skills and theory, 100 hours of supervised practice, 20 hours of personal therapy)
- A minimum of 1-year post qualification supervised clinical practice
- BACP registration (or equivalent) and actively working towards accreditation
- Experience of delivering short-term counselling
- Experience of working with people with cognitive impairment
This role requires extensive travel across a large geographical locality to visit people at home and in community settings. Candidates must be able to demonstrate how they can meet this requirement of the role.
