About us:

Colostomy UK is a national charity that offers support and advice to people who have had stoma surgery (ostomates) and to their friends, families and carers. Our projects empower ostomates to return to sports, hobbies and other activities after their surgery and give them the confidence to take on fresh challenges. We advocate for ostomates’ rights and are their voice on the bigger issues. Our campaigns raise awareness of life with a stoma and encourage organisations to make their facilities more inclusive.

About the role:

As the Fundraising Executive you will work to grow income through developing our community engagement, attracting, building and managing relationships with a range of supporters (individual donors and fundraisers, community groups, local businesses, volunteers etc). You will lead on the stewardship of events and challenges, including our annual Step Up campaign, by supporting individuals and groups to raise funds through fundraising activities. The post-holder will also support the recording of donations, send appropriate acknowledgements, review fundraising materials, and prepare fundraising content for social media, our website and our quarterly magazine, Tidings.

You will be joining a collaborative and innovative team of individuals who put our community first and are connected by a passion to make a real difference. We offer the opportunity for professional development across a range of fundraising disciplines, including community, individual giving, digital, legacy and corporate, as well as the potential to support fundraising from charitable trusts. The right candidate will be in a prime position for career progression as we grow our small team.

Practicalities:

This role may involve occasional overnight stays, early mornings, evenings and weekends so some flexibility is a must.

Ideally you will work regularly at our head office in the first few weeks in post to aid a successful induction period. Following this, you may continue to be office-based full time, or work on a hybrid or remote basis.

Core role responsibilities

 ·Working alongside the Fundraising Manager to implement the fundraising strategy, with a focus on building unrestricted income

·Donor stewardship, including recording and thanking for donations, and other supporter communications, to encourage long-term, repeat support – engaging existing supporters, making them feel valued, proud, and committed to supporting the charity

·Working with our supporters to organise and host interesting activities and events in the community and digitally, to significantly increase fundraising income; ensuring excellent support of their activities during planning and delivery, and arranging attendance from the Colostomy UK team and volunteers as appropriate

·Preparing appealing fundraising materials and content for all types of communications

·Representing and raising the profile of the organisation externally by giving presentations and promoting the need for fundraising among different audiences

·Working with the Marketing & Social Media Executive to ensure fundraising is included in our public-facing communications, to supporters and audiences on social media, in newsletters and on other channels; ensuring our website, social media channels and print material are kept up to date with fundraising news and activities that inspire engagement and giving

Primary Responsibilities and Duties:

• Work with the Vice President of Vegan Corporate Projects and the Senior Corporate Projects Manager to develop and manage a strategic plan for PETA's work with companies
• Establish and maintain productive relationships with corporations and institutions, and negotiate to improve/increase their vegan options while reducing/eliminating meat, dairy and eggs
• Work with caterers at major sports arenas in the UK to encourage them to expand and promote their vegan food offering
• Encourage chicken shop takeaways to have vegan chicken options on the menu
• Develop positive ways to reach farmers, farming organisations, and the public, to promote plant-based agriculture
• Ensure consistency and best practices in external communications
• Prepare and deliver presentations to executives
• Initiate and execute projects to encourage the public to try a vegan lifestyle

Education should be the means to break the link between demographics and destiny. Yet every week 109 children in England – equivalent to three full classrooms – are asked to leave their schools and never come back, with disastrous personal and societal consequences. The Difference, a young education charity, was founded to change the story on this lost learning. It exists to build the status and expertise of teachers working with vulnerable children, particularly those who are excluded from mainstream schools.

By 2030, The Difference want rates of exclusion and absence to be falling nationally and for schools to be better equipped to support all children, including those who may be vulnerable.

The organisation was born out of a year of research into school exclusions with think-tank IPPR. This research identified a lack of inclusion expertise in schools and proposed a new leadership development programme to fill this gap. In 2018, The Difference founder Kiran hired the team who took this idea from concept to reality, beginning work with our first schools.

The Difference is now a 22-strong team delivering multiple school leadership programmes, alongside a growing research and policy arm. The team is supported by our Youth Advisory Board, made up of young people who have experienced exclusion and who provide their expertise and insights on how school inclusion work should be done. This work is needed more than ever. Effects of COVID-19, coupled with the spiralling cost of living, have substantially increased levels of vulnerability. Schools serving excluded pupils face under-funding. The Difference has had excellent early impact but there is work ahead to capture this, share learning with schools and policy-makers, and grow our capacity to lower exclusions across England.

Our first permanent Head of Fundraising will drive the growth and sustainability of our fundraising function. Having proved the impact on exclusions via our programmes, you will help us generate the income to scale this success across the country. We need an expert fundraiser to support this journey. Key Responsibilities

• Drive the delivery of a new fundraising strategy for The Difference, motivating and involving key members of the team, particularly the Development and Impact Manager.
• Build and manage a dynamic portfolio of around 20-30 major individual prospects and donors with capacity to give £50k+, working with key stakeholders to solicit and close asks.
• Grow overall fundraised income from £1.25m to £1.9m annually in next 3 years.
• Write and submit funding proposals to major donors, trusts and foundations, and corporate supporters.
• Support the creation of engaging content from our impact data and case studies, for The Difference’s website and social media that could lead to online fundraising, including feeding into writing press releases as required.

• Plan and deliver fundraising outreach to build out our list of fundraising pipeline.

My Cancer My Choices is looking for a talented relationship builder, people engager, community maker, and money raiser, to support our continued growth and development.

As our new Supporter Development Officer you will enhance existing relationships in our community, and with our current supporters - as well as build new connections - to secure the financial and other support required to fund our growing services. The Role
