We are looking for an ambitious new Legacy Giving Lead – someone who brings a passion for hospice care and wants to play a part in growing Legacy Giving at the Hospice. On average, we receive £1 million a year in legacy income but we are keen to grow and sustain this in the future.
This is a critical role that will work with colleagues across the Hospice to raise awareness of legacies and you will contribute your expertise to provide top-tier stewardship to our wonderful legators.
The opportunity...
This is a critical role that will develop and grow a high-performing Legacy Giving programme at The Hospice of St Francis.
You will personally identify, cultivate and steward legacy pledgers through an inspiring engagement programme that both raises awareness of legacies, encourages new pledgers and shows the impact they have on the Hospice’s services.
With a solid understanding of the administration of wills, you will liaise with executors and professional advisors and advise colleagues and the Board on best practice legacy administration.
This is an exciting opportunity for a Legacy Giving specialist to curate a new legacy programme, building on previous work, to grow income for the future.
The must haves:
- Fundraising Success: At least five years’ experience of delivering a Legacy Giving programme with success in driving acquisition and relationship management
- Technical expertise: Practical understanding of the practical implications of legal and financial aspects of wills
- Driving awareness and engagement: Experience of developing and executing legacy awareness initiatives internally and externally
- Systems and processes: using client relationship management systems, tracking KPIs and managing projects
- Proven expertise in relationship building internally and externally
The it would be great to haves:
- Experience working with professional advisors such as lawyers, accountants and wealth managers
- Knowledge of regular/mid-value or in-mem giving
- Experience of DonorFy
- Experience of fundraising in a Hospice setting
- Certificate in Charity Legacy Administration or Certificate in Legacy Fundraising

As part of a growing team, this role will have a significant impact by driving the delivery of our diverse portfolio of partnerships, including strategic and commercial partners and charity of the year.
This important role supports the Partnerships and Philanthropy Team to grow and build strategic relationships with businesses across the UK.
As Corporate Partnerships Manager you will actively identify and secure new partners for the charity, as well as managing a portfolio of existing corporate partner relationships.
As a key member of the team you will work across the organisation to develop opportunities for supporters to be partners in delivering our ambitious plans to end new cases of HIV by 2030.
Main duties of the role:
- Work with the Head of Philanthropy & Partnerships to develop and implement a robust strategy to secure income from corporate partnerships (e.g. employee fundraising, sponsorship, cause-related marketing, strategic partnerships, pro bono and philanthropic donations).
- Manage a varied portfolio of corporate partners, ensuring that they are stewarded effectively through strengthening their engagement and ensuring partnerships are delivering against their objectives.
- Producing attractive and compelling proposals related to Terrence Higgins Trust sponsorship and partnership opportunities, as set out in the Fundraising and Organisational Strategy.
- Developing contractual agreements between sponsors and Terrence Higgins Trust to protect and deliver the interests of both parties.
- Be responsible for developing and implementing a yearly activity plan to co-ordinate applications and reports to funders to achieve year on year targets.
- Lead on the generation of creative, strong and impactful collateral to ensure applications, proposals, presentations and information attract and retain partners.
- Ensure that the charity is generating sustainable, unrestricted income from the corporate sector by developing a varied portfolio of strategic and commercial partnerships, in addition to other types of partnerships.
- Lead on the account management and stewardship of successful partnerships, liaising with appropriate teams, ensuring that objectives of the donor are fully met.
- Work closely with the marketing and communications teams to support brand awareness and increase awareness of the charity’s work through corporate partnership opportunities.
- Managing strong and enduring relationships with colleagues in relevant areas across the charity to ensure that partnership opportunities are optimised and ensure maximum value to Terrence Higgins Trust.
- Ensure all information relating to each corporate partnership is accurate, up to date, documented on the CRM, prospect tracking tools, and well organised.
- Ensure that all donor communications are handled appropriately, promptly and courteously and that complaints and criticisms are logged, investigated and resolved, in accordance with the organisation’s systems and procedures.
- Work closely with the trustees, senior volunteers and the senior management team to recruit and steward Corporate Partners.
- Contribute to the budgeting process for the Corporate Partnerships team and significantly contribute to the annual income budget.
- Contribute to the strategy of the wider Income Generation Directorate, and participate in fundraising events as required.
- Travel, as required, for donor meetings in London and the UK and occasionally work evenings and/or weekends at events.
- Stay abreast of changes and trends in fundraising practice to continually optimise performance, as well as ensuring compliance with changing regulations, including GDPR.

The Partnerships Manager will play a central role in helping the RES achieve its strategic goals by developing, building and sustaining partnerships to deliver external funding. Key Responsibilities
Fundraising and bid development
- Identify and secure new sponsorship and partnerships opportunities to support existing RES activities
- Seek funding for new activities in line with the Society’s goals.
- Maintain and develop relationships with current and prospective partners including funding bodies, trusts and foundations, sponsors, major donors, corporates, universities and others.
- Write high-quality, persuasive funding bids and proposals, working with RES staff, trustees, and partner organisations.
- Develop cases for support, theory of change frameworks and budgets to underpin funding applications.
- Respond to calls for funding with tailored and timely applications that align with funder interests and the Society’s strategic priorities.
- Work closely with colleagues on the delivery of the funded activities, where appropriate overseeing these directly.
- Work closely with colleagues to identify priority initiatives that require external funding to proceed and maintain a clear pipeline of funding needs across the organisation.
- Develop and maintain RES group and institutional memberships.
Business Development and External Engagement
- Monitor trends in research funding, philanthropy, and corporate partnerships relevant to economics and learned societies.
- Horizon-scan and build a pipeline of future fundraising opportunities.
- Represent RES externally at funder meetings, networking events, and partnership development discussions.
Internal Collaboration and Capacity Building
- Work closely with colleagues shaping and costing funding proposals and ensure bid quality and compliance
- Provide guidance, training, and support to colleagues on funding opportunities, bid development, and funder expectations.
- Work with finance colleagues to ensure accurate invoicing, renewals, and financial forecasting.
Reporting
- Monitor performance against income and other targets and report regularly to the Chief Executive and Board.
- Prepare briefings, proposals and reports for Board and committee meetings.
Other
- Carry out any other tasks and responsibilities commensurate with the role and as reasonably requested.
Person Specification
Essential Skills
- Proven experience of successful fundraising, bid writing or business development, preferably in a learned society, research organisation, professional body or in higher education.
- Understanding of impact and outcomes-based funding models (e.g. theory of change), and how to align funding opportunities with organisational priorities.
- Ability to support the development of budgets for funding bids and to track/report against income target.
- Strong interpersonal and relationship management skills, with the ability to influence and negotiate.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to write persuasive funding bids, cases for support, and briefing materials.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a small team environment.
- Highly organised, able to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet tight deadlines whilst maintaining quality.
Desired Skills
- Familiarity with the research, higher education, or economics funding landscape.
- Experience of working with a variety of funders, including trusts and foundations, research councils, corporates, or major donors.
- Experience working with CRM systems (e.g. Salesforce or equivalent).
- Understanding of how charitable governance interacts with fundraising, including experience supporting committees or preparing reports for Boards.

Job description and person specification
This is an exciting and varied role that encompasses all aspects of our fundraising activity and will support the development of relationships with our individual donors, Trusts and Foundations, Corporate Partners, and Community/Faith Groups. Our ideal candidate will have experience of working in a charity or other related organisation, in a fundraising and / or marketing team, and will bring relevant, transferable experience to apply to this role. You will work closely with the fundraising team to research, steward, and help secure funding and on your own initiative. Key Responsibilities
- Support the development of our individual giving programme including the planning and delivery of fundraising appeals and campaigns.
- Ensure donations are promptly acknowledged and recorded on our fundraising database, Donorfy.
- Lead the development of our use of Donorfy to record and report on our fundraising data, and manage donor relationships.
- Support the planning and delivery of key fundraising events including our annual Gala fundraising event.
- Conduct periodic and ad hoc prospect research on previous and prospective funders and identify new funding opportunities under the supervision of the Trusts and Foundations Grants lead.
- Support the Trusts and Foundations Grants lead to maintain a calendar of deadlines and reporting requirements

Purpose of the Role: As a key leader within our Partnerships and Income Development team, you will be responsible for driving sustainable income growth through high-impact, strategic and philanthropic partnerships with trusts, foundations and corporate partners.

Role Purpose
As Head of Fundraising, you will be responsible for generating sustainable income through our fundraising activities, along with ensuring that Beaumond House is continuously building strong relationships with our supporters, local businesses and wider community as part of our income generation strategy.
You will lead and support the Beaumond House fundraising team in developing sustainable income to help ensure our charitable work continues to make an impact in Newark and Sherwood for future generations.
Main Duties
- Responsible for devising, implementing, and developing innovative fundraising activity plans to ensure dependable sources of income for now and in the future.
- Work with your team, to build long-lasting relationships with our supporters, volunteers, businesses, grant makers and wider community.

Operational and Management Duties

- Mentor and coach members of the team, identify and support with development needs in team knowledge or experience, offering support and best practice advice.
- Delivering a tactical programme to ensure the successful implementation of fundraising plans and strategy, supporting each member of the fundraising team to meet their targets.
- Identify and clarify relationship overlaps between fundraising team members to ensure clarity for donors and supporters.
- Get involved and support the team with fundraising activities as required. Such as attending fundraising events and activities outside normal working hours, weekends and Bank Holidays when required.

Purpose of the job
Primarily, you’ll own responsibility for our small to medium grant pipeline, so we're looking for someone with a track record of successfully securing five figure funding from Trusts, Foundations, or Corporates. As well as writing high quality, comprehensive and persuasive funding applications, you’ll need to manage reporting and relationship management with the funders you successfully engage with and oversee wider fundraising areas, including playing a key role in our social media and communications, supporting sponsored event and London marathon runners, and playing a key part in planning our annual fundraising events. We see significant potential for growth within the role with the capacity for the right candidate to progress to Senior Fundraising Officer level within the first 12-18 months.
