Role Purpose

As Head of Fundraising, you will be responsible for generating sustainable income through our fundraising activities, along with ensuring that Beaumond House is continuously building strong relationships with our supporters, local businesses and wider community as part of our income generation strategy.

You will lead and support the Beaumond House fundraising team in developing sustainable income to help ensure our charitable work continues to make an impact in Newark and Sherwood for future generations.  

Main Duties

• Responsible for devising, implementing, and developing innovative fundraising activity plans to ensure dependable sources of income for now and in the future.
• Work with your team, to build long-lasting relationships with our supporters, volunteers, businesses, grant makers and wider community.

• Mentor and coach members of the team, identify and support with development needs in team knowledge or experience, offering support and best practice advice.
• Delivering a tactical programme to ensure the successful implementation of fundraising plans and strategy, supporting each member of the fundraising team to meet their targets.

• Champion innovation in income generation, identify emerging trends in philanthropy, digital fundraising and donor engagement.

Administration Duties

Hearing Dogs for Deaf People has been creating life-changing partnerships between hearing dogs and deaf recipients since 1982. As well as acting as an ear to their partners and alerting them to sounds, the charity’s clever and expertly trained dogs help deaf people to live life with confidence and independence, whilst providing love, companionship and emotional support.

Following on from a strategic review, the charity is now looking to build a new Income Generation Directorate, to enable them to transform many more lives across the UK. This role will be critical to help Hearing Dogs reach their goals to diversify income, expand their portfolio and accelerate income from mission-aligned businesses.

Reporting to the Head of Corporate Partnerships, this role will take a lead on nurturing existing partnerships and developing new ones, with a specific focus on increasing income through employee engagement and payroll giving schemes. Variety is looking for a PR and Communications Manager to join our growing team and take responsibility for our communications strategy to support fundraising, programmes and brand activities. It is an exciting time to join the charity as we have laid the groundwork over the last year to improve our marketing and communication channels and have ambitious plans to double our charity size, to fund life-changing practical support for disabled and disadvantaged children and young people across the UK.

We have a new Director of Fundraising and Communications in place who you will work closely alongside, and your work will be across three areas: content creation including the website, PR and social media. Key to success is putting children’s stories at the heart of our communication and you will need to work independently, guiding the Social Media Officer and freelancers, playing a key role in our collaborative and high-performing team.

 KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

•Content creation – identify and gather beneficiary stories and create compelling content for Variety’s communication channels  

•PR – develop a network of supportive media contacts and partners to effectively promote our work and proactively target journalists, writing and delivering press releases as needed

•Social media – oversee the social media calendar and have responsibility for the social content and channels. Have managerial responsibility for the Social Media Officer, ensuring content is planned in and comments are monitored with occasional weekend cover

•Interview beneficiaries of Variety, meeting family members, working with external agents (photographers, filmmakers) as necessary to give beneficiaries the best experience while gathering the most relevant information for story telling

•Produce stories with the Director of Fundraising and Communications in the best formats, ensuring brand compliance and accessibility

Position: Corporate Fundraiser
Location: Kingsley Hall, Bristol / Hybrid (with flexibility and includes 2 in-person team days per week)
Salary: £31,586 - £33,366 per annum (plus pending 3.2% pay award backdated to the employment start date).

The Role

You will help develop partnerships that transform the lives of young people by supporting the growth of our corporate fundraising income and coordinating inspiring opportunities for supporter engagement.

You will:

• Research, approach, and build relationships with values-aligned businesses.
• Help create compelling partnership proposals and materials that showcase our impact.
• Coordinate supporter events, volunteering days, and youth engagement opportunities.
• Maintain relationships, track donations and manage supporter communications.
• Collaborate across teams to ensure an excellent experience for every partner and donor.

You will work collaboratively in the Fundraising and Communications Team and report to the Corporate Partnerships and Philanthropy Manager. The role

As our Community and Volunteering Fundraiser, you’ll take the lead on growing our community fundraising income within a defined region. Through proactive outreach, you will build relationships with supporters, volunteers, and local organisations empowering them to fundraise on our behalf.

You’ll deliver a mix of supporter recruitment, stewardship and event coordination. From championing local partnerships and speaking at community events, to helping individuals turn their ideas into successful fundraisers, you will be the local contact for Family Fund in your region.

Working closely with our fundraising and marketing teams, you’ll adapt and promote campaigns that resonate locally, driving participation and long-term engagement. A natural relationship builder, you’ll also support and grow our network of volunteers to maximise regional impact.

About you  

You’ll be passionate about making a difference, with experience in community fundraising, volunteer coordination, or a similar engagement-focused role. You’ll bring strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire supporters from all walks of life. 

Organised and results-driven, you’ll manage multiple projects effectively, balancing supporter care with meeting fundraising targets. Comfortable working independently and as part of a wider team, you’ll be confident representing Family Fund in your community and beyond.

Who are we? 

Established in 2014, Beating Time is an award-winning charity operating across the UK, from two offices in London and Birmingham. We help people survive a prison sentence and thrive after release, ultimately to reduce their chances of reoffending. We run two continuous programmes: Choirs Beating Time, running weekly prison choirs and songwriting groups, and Inside Job, which uses a peer-led employment model to help people through release and into paid work. We have sung with thousands of people, directly supported 700+ people into employment, influenced policy and partnered with many high-profile organisations. 

The role

We’re hiring for an enthusiastic, organised and self-motivated Fundraising and Communications Officer to join us in London (Woolwich) or Bimingham (Digbeth). You will need to be based near to one of those offices, we do a mixture of WHF and in office working.

Idealy, we’re looking for someone with an interest in the criminal justice system, strong knowledge of fundraising (particularly for small charities) and communications expertise. 

This role is an opportunity to shape how we present ourselves to funders and supporters and maintain long-term partnerships with them. You will play an active role in determining our future fundraising strategy while meeting the day-to-day demands of keeping a small charity afloat. You’ll contribute to our efforts to diversify income streams by securing support from corporates and other partners – this requires an ability to think creatively and strategically. 

An advantage of doing this work in a small team is you’ll be able to see the direct effect of your work on how we deliver Choirs Beating Time and Inside Job, often in practice during prison visits. You’ll work closely with senior management to stay on top of budgets and cashflow to inform your fundraising decisions and grow a culture of income awareness across the charity.

Communications play an important role in maintaining relationships with funders and stakeholders. We want to keep up a strong, involved presence on LinkedIn, while contributing to sector-wide advocacy, and boosting visibility through online and in-person events. An important part of our comms strategy is conveying our impact; you will also prepare regular impact reports for internal and external use. 

What we’re looking for

• Excellent writing and editing skills – your day-to-day tasks will involve writing grant applications and reports to new and existing funders (majority trusts and foundations). You will collate and write quarterly newsletters, circulated to funders, partner organisations, supporters and our employer network.
• Fundraising expertise – you will research and identify potential funders/corporate sponsorship to feed into the prospect pipeline. You will also develop and maintain a database to keep track of new/existing/past funders and monitor fundraising impact. 
• Strong organisational skills – previous experience working or volunteering with a small charity is a plus. You will often be working to deadlines and need to be able to plan ahead and organise your schedule accordingly. Your role as part of the central team will include taking minutes at weekly meetings, liaising with prisons and freelance musical directors, and actively reaching out to government and sector bodies where necessary. You’ll be able to multitask effectively and be highly organised with very strong attention to detail.
• Interest in the criminal justice system – we are active members of the criminal justice third sector, championing people with lived experience (especially within our own team). You may be asked to attend sector-wide events, participate in roundtables, and contribute to reports. 
• Solid knowledge of social media management – you will use Canva and other resources to design and post on our accounts, particularly LinkedIn. Posts might include internal updates (e.g. new hires, staff milestones), reactions to sector events (e.g. our response to the Sentencing Review), news about our employer partners, and beneficiary case studies.
