Fundraising Manager (Grants and Trusts)
Working closely with the Chief Executive, the Fundraising Manager will help secure and sustain existing and new grant income streams from trusts and foundations, corporate partnerships, statutory bodies, and other local or national funders. The Fundraising Manager will work with others to research and identify prospective new funding opportunities, write and submit grant applications, and build strong relationships with donors. They will have strong confidence in presenting AFRUCA to prospective donors and coordinate and maintain strong working relationships with them.
We are looking for a strong candidate able to develop compelling AFRUCA funding proposals tailored to the requirement of each funder. They must have a strong knowledge and understanding of the UK charity sector fundraising landscape. They must possess excellent written communication and organising skills. They must possess sound interpersonal skills with an ability to influence and negotiate with external and internal stakeholders. They must be assertive, able to demonstrate personal resourcefulness in the generation of new revenue and funding streams for AFRUCA.
The Fundraising Manager post is a newly created role within AFRUCA, therefore an exciting opportunity for someone to make it their own and implement ideas and strategies to support the organisation’s growth.

The Opportunity

We are looking for a Fundraising Manager to work predominantly on the Warm Welcome Campaign, whilst also supporting wider fundraising efforts within the Good Faith Partnership. The role will work primarily on Trusts and Foundations, supporting other areas of work within the fundraising function, as necessary.
Joining during an exciting period of growth, you will be inheriting a pipeline of passionate funders who have supported the establishment and rapid growth of the Warm Welcome Campaign since 2022. At the same time, there remains a wealth of funders yet to be approached and relationships to be developed.
You will be responsible for securing significant income for the Warm Welcome Campaign from a variety of sources, mainly from Grant-making bodies. This will involve identifying new opportunities, managing donor relationships and producing compelling communications to promote the work of the Warm Welcome Campaign and the Good Faith Partnership. Reporting to the Development Director, you will work closely with them and other Senior Directors to maximise income potential.
We are also interested in expanding our fundraising with a focus on individual giving, community and corporate fundraising and would value your expertise in these areas.
We have a CRM which will support your activity in:

Developing and maintaining fundraising systems to ensure excellent donor relationships, maintenance and development

The Felix Project is a dynamic, ambitious charity working to make London a city where no one goes hungry and good food is never wasted.
We rescue high quality, fresh and nutritious food that cannot be sold from over 300 suppliers including supermarkets, wholesalers, farms, restaurants, and delis. We sort and deliver this food to charities, schools and community projects supporting London’s most vulnerable people.
Last year, we rescued over 13.4K tonnes of food and redistributed it to over 1000 frontline community organisations and 170 primary schools, across the 32 boroughs of London. That’s enough food to make more than 32 million meals.

Purpose of the Job
The Felix Project is a young charity, just eight years old. We’ve been on a rapid growth trajectory, building our operational footprint to meet the sky-rocketing and desperate need for good food in London to fight food insecurity. This growth means our cost centre has increased each year.

About the role:
The purpose of the Fundraising Manager’s role is to develop the role and fundraising strategy of the organisation. You will support the CEO with creating the role, strategy, systems, and activities of income generation for the organisation. As our charity grows, we are seeking a skilled Philanthropy Manager to join our ambitious and supportive Fundraising and Partnerships team of 9 people. The Philanthropy Manager will be an integral role within our team, working with and supported by the Head of Grants & Strategic Development to build a strong pipeline of five and six-figure gifts from Trusts & Foundations and Major Donors, including core funding and restricted funding.
This is a unique opportunity to work alongside senior members of staff to maximise funding opportunities, expand our portfolio of grant funders, and contribute to a growth in income from Trusts & Foundations and Major Donors. The Fundraising and Communications Manager will manage a range of fundraising streams, including trusts and foundations, institutions, individuals, and corporations.
KEY TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Manage diverse income from different fundraising streams, including institutions, trusts and foundations, corporates, individual giving, campaigns, events, and community fundraising.
- Lead the development and implementation of DeafKidz International’s fundraising strategy to achieve sustainable income growth to ensure the continuation and development of priority program areas.
- Research, plan, write and submit compelling applications to institutions, trusts, and foundations, based on a clear understanding of DKI’s global program priorities and donor requirements.
- Deliver income and expenditure forecasts, including increasing unrestricted and restricted funding from institutional grants, trusts and foundations, individuals, donors, and corporate supporters.
- Develop, monitor, and evaluate the fundraising strategy, testing new approaches to grow and diversify income streams.
- Develop and grow relationships with DKI Ambassadors to create content and raise the profile of the charity.

Reporting to the Head of Development, the Development Manager will take an active role in building a robust and sustainable major donor and corporate fundraising programme to help us expand our work across the UK over the coming years.
