About Black Thrive 

Black Thrive Global (BTG) evolved from the work of the Black Thrive Lambeth (BTL) Partnership, which was established in 2016. We exist to address the inequalities that negatively impact the mental health and wellbeing of Black people so that the thriving of Black communities is the norm. 

Our guiding principle is that Black communities should be at the forefront of reimagining, redefining, and co-creating a society where systemic racism and other oppressive systems have been dismantled so that they have fulfilling lives. We have two priorities – building a Black Thrive Research Institute and embedding race equity in systems change. 

We have grown rapidly since 2021 and so still have a start-up culture and often deal with competing priorities at a fast pace. 

The aim of Black Queer & Thriving is to explore the health and wellbeing needs of Black LGBTQ+ people in Lambeth and Southwark, develop community research that details these needs with the Working Group and use the outcome to influence local policy and infrastructure. 

The purpose of this role is to support the Black Queer & Thriving workstream with the main priorities being: 

• Providing administrative support to the development of the Black LGBTQ+ Working Group, including organising meetings and minute taking; 

• Supporting relationship management with Lambeth and Southwark’s Black LGBTQ+ community; and 

• Leading on a community research project exploring the health and wellbeing experiences of Black LGBTQ+ people in Lambeth and Southwark.

The list below is not an exhaustive list of duties, due to the dynamic nature of the work occurring at Black Thrive we are looking for someone who is willing to adapt to our responsive workstreams, and who can be agile in the performance of different tasks.

Duties and responsibilities 

1. Support the project’s engagement and involvement with Lambeth and Southwark’s Black LGBTQ+ communities, particularly young people. 

2. Lead on designing and maintaining databases to support the network mapping of stakeholders and ensure relationship management of key stakeholders. 

3. Leading on a community research project with the Working Group and participate in and support other research, evaluation and learning activities. 

4. Keep abreast of various projects, initiatives and coalitions locally, regionally and nationally, as well as emerging legislation policy and practice related to the workstream. 

5. Support the Programme & Partnership Manager with project management and reporting arrangements relating to the achievement of objectives and milestones. 

6. Organise meeting and events and manage the associated administration such as room bookings, preparing and distribution of agendas, minute taking and action tracking. 

7. Support the development of the Black LGBTQ+ Working Group, including recruitment, organising meetings and minutes. 

8. Produce and deliver presentations, reports and other materials relevant to the role. 

9. Lead on producing content for internal and external blog posts and digital content across our communication channels to ensure effective communication of Black Thrive’s employment work to relevant audiences. 

10.  Put in place appropriate project and financial management arrangements to ensure the achievement of objectives and milestones relating to the Communities workstream.

11.  Ensure compliance with legislation and policies relevant to the job role, including equality, safeguarding, health and safety, data protection and financial probity.

12.  Spend up to 10% of time supporting corporate business, such as strategy and administration.

13.  Occasionally work at weekends and in the evenings when required. 

Who we are:

The Dalit Solidarity Network UK is a small human rights organisation working to eliminate caste-based discrimination in the UK and South Asia. Registering as an official charity in 2003, Dalit Solidarity Network UK continues to grow as an effective campaigning and advocacy organisation, working on the issue of caste discrimination in the UK and being an active player in the global movement.  Our major areas of work include documenting 'everyday casteism', building capacity of businesses to address caste-discrimination in overseas supply chains and UK operations and working with UK Higher Education Institutions to protect against caste-discrimination.

Summary of the role:

We are seeking a new Director who will be responsible for working with the Board to:

i) Develop and deliver of DSN-UK's overall strategy and objectives;

ii) Provide strategic leadership to influence the policy and practice of key stakeholders to further DSN’s vision of a ‘world without caste discrimination’;

iii) Lead overall management of DSN-UK, including management of DSN-UK staff, its finances and other resources.

Main duties and responsibilities:

Leadership and strategy

Responsible for implementing DSN-UK’s strategy through specific campaign, lobbying and advocacy activities, including development of key messages and influencing strategies. 

Maintaining partnerships and network support within the UK, with partners in South Asia and international partners.

Conducting joint advocacy at UK/EU/UN level, representing these issues at UK Government level and participating in  other joint initiatives as appropriate.

Operational Management

Responsible for the day-to-day management of DSN-UK, including key  aspects of its internal administration, particularly providing oversight of financial management, annual budgets and the preparation of regular financial and programme reports for the Board.

Fundraising:

Leading the development and implementation of a fundraising strategy for DSN-UK, preparing funding proposals and reporting to donors on project achievements.

Human Resources:

Managing one part time office administrator and appointing other staff, volunteers and consultants in consultation with the Chair.

What we are looking for in a Director:

1. A track record of successfully working at a senior level with strategic leadership and management responsibilities.

2. Ability to develop organisational strategies and translate them into plans and budgets.

3. Experience of working on issues of social justice/human rights/equality, diversity and inclusion and of campaigning for change.

4. Experience of representing an organisation to others, ranging from grass roots activists to government officials including high-level lobbying and advocacy and public speaking.

5. Experience of developing and managing budgets.

6. Proven track record and experience of fundraising from trusts, governments and corporate sources.

7. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

8. Ability to plan and prioritise and keep to targets under pressure and to deadlines.

9. Willingness to travel within the UK and to work outside usual office hours if necessary.

10.  Commitment to the aims of DSN-UK and sensitivity to issues of caste, gender, race and religion and commitment to ensuring equal opportunities.

The Role

The role:

This part time (0.6FTE) post is located within the core services Team, and reports to the CEO. The postholder works closely across the organisation to deliver an efficient Office management, Reception and basic HR service to all managers and staff.

Aims of the post

• To manage the office, coordinating volunteers to provide reception and administrative services. 

• To coordinate and procure office and IT equipment.

• To carry out HR administration tasks acting as a first point of contact for managers and staff.

Specific Responsibilities

Office management

• Dealing with customer & external queries and disputes dealing with in bound and out bound communication, such as hybrid mail, post, phone calls and customer satisfaction surveys. 

• Organise Reception rota and cover, enabling opening hours to be fully resourced. 

• Dealing with petty cash.

• Managing phone and IT systems, contributing to new projects and upgrades.

Volunteer and Placement development

• Day to day supervision of customer services volunteers and placements.

• Recruit and plan for volunteers and placements, including contributing to individual learning plans and reviewing progress. 

HR administration

• Investment in staff - To be an impartial point of contact for employees and volunteers seeking HR advice if their line manager is not able to assist, signposting them as appropriate to other sources of advice and assistance. 

• Employment contracts and Consulting employees - To provide administrative support when consulting on Terms and Conditions, investigating Disciplinary and Grievances and any other related matters. To support the CEO to coordinate working groups across employees and volunteers. To administer staff surveys. 

• DBS checks - To undertake renewal DBS checks for all employees and volunteers and make recommendations as necessary to managers. 

• Managing information - To ensure good quality and accurate HR information management for all employees and volunteers with due regard to confidentiality and document control. To maintain electronic files and enable colleagues to make the best use of the HR database, Breathe HR. To facilitate references for former employees in partnership with managers and the CEO. 

• Payroll - To collate information, draft and seek authorisation of payroll changes in partnership with the CEO and Director of Finance. To support the annual pay review. 

• Recruitment - To coordinate recruitment processes in partnership with the recruiting manager. This includes liaising with the recruitment agency. 

• Learning and Development - To coordinate training suppliers and place bookings for courses in consultation with the CEO. To contribute to coordinating the annual Staff and Volunteer conference. 

Customer focused services

• Promote and support tenants/participants to access PBHA’s participation and co-production opportunities.

• Be supportive of PBHA’s ethos of maximising tenant/participant influence over the development of the organisation.

• To positively promote and signpost tenants and participants to report complaints in line with PBHA’s practice. To have a collaborative and co-operative approach towards resolving complaints, working with colleagues across teams and departments. To take collective responsibility for any shortfalls identified through complaints.

General Responsibilities

• Participate in key meetings.

• Contribute to policy development, income generation, strategic and annual planning, corporate and cross-team activities, external partnerships and promotional activities as required.

• Promote, develop and support PBHA’s ethos, values and impact.

• Provide cover for other managers and workers.

Main Conditions of Service

This is a part time position. The post is for 22.5 hours per week. It is expected that the hours will be delivered on 3 full days (to be agreed) each week but alternative arrangements, ie 4.5 hours per day for 5 days, may be acceptable. Duties will occasionally be carried out over evenings and some public holidays. Overtime is not paid but in line with Agile working, hours can be averaged out over a 2-week period.

Annual leave entitlement is 26 days per year plus normal bank holidays pro rata. This will rise after each completed year of service to a maximum of 30 days – pro rata.  

Salaries and expenses are based on PBHA’s salary scales and are revised each year. The salary for this post will be in the range of £35,692 pro rata per annum and the starting salary is £35,692 (£21,415 for 22.5 hours per week).

The post holder will be auto enrolled to be a member of the organisation's contributory pension scheme if eligible.

In common with all posts at PBHA, confirmation of appointment is subject to a probationary period (6 months). The notice period for this role is four weeks.

Regional Manager for Volunteer Mentors (London) - £29,000  per annum plus London Weighting (pro-rata)

Here at One Million Mentors, our aim is to ensure that every young person in the country has access to a trained mentor as they transition into adulthood. We believe that investing in mentors will help to address the skills gap agenda and improve social cohesion.

This is one of two Regional Manager roles in London; a Regional Manager for Volunteer Mentors, and Regional Manager for Programme Delivery.

The Regional Manager for Volunteer Mentors focuses on mentor supply, securing sufficient volunteers primarily for London and also for 1MM’s national outreach. It’s the perfect role for a candidate whose passions and strengths align with large scale outreach for volunteers so that no young people on those programmes miss out.

The role is responsible for overseeing high-quality sourcing of volunteers to join as 1MM Mentors, in London and nationally. This includes partnership development, online site listing, and matching mentors/mentees, and oversight of some corporate programmes. Also to consider safeguarding measures, fundraising, meeting growth targets and leading all aspects of mentor management. The role will help to establish a pipeline in line with 1MM’s aspirations for 2024 and beyond.  This role reports to the Chief Commercial Officer (CCO).

1MM Regional Manager for Volunteer Mentors main tasks include:

• Helping 1MM to scale by helping establish over 150 new, high quality mentoring matches each quarter. (A match means that the mentor and the mentee have completed 1MM’s training and have had their first meeting)

• Meeting all quality assurance KPIs.

• Maximising conversion, retention, and mitigate drop-off

• Providing ongoing support for key stakeholder partners, including Employers, and maintaining strong relationships.

• Securing at least one new partner per quarter.

• Becoming familiar with the 1MM Platform, using it comfortably for ongoing administration and providing support to users.

• Providing regular reports on progress related to the role.

• Potential for line-management responsibilities as the team grows.

Terms and Conditions: This is a full time role offered in London, for 6 months (continuing subject to funding). This is a hybrid role with two days working at home, two days in the London office, and one day where it is up to you.

Remuneration and benefits: Salary bracket of £29,000 per annum plus London Weighting (pro rata), up to 6.5% employer pension contribution and 25 days holiday per year (pro rata).  We also offer monthly team Learning and Development training sessions, and 15 hours volunteering allowance per year.

Transforming Lives for Good (TLG) are a national Christian charity working in partnership with local churches to give struggling children a hope and a future. We are looking for a well-organised, relational leader who is passionate about the way TLG enables local churches across the UK to get alongside struggling families in their communities. The Church Relationships Lead will work as part of the national Volunteer Programmes (VP) Team, reporting to the Early Intervention Network Support Manager and collaborating with staff responsible for programme training and development.

This is an exciting time to join our growing VP team to support an increasing number of churches who have chosen to partner with TLG through running the Early Intervention (EI) programme. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading and supporting EI Coordinators to effectively run their centres, as well as training new EI coach teams.

TLG is a Christian charity and, as a team, we want to bring our faith to the work we do; as such, we are recruiting an individual with a strong and vibrant Christian faith. Sense are in search of a Trusts and Statutory Manager to join our fantastic engagement team based in London. The successful candidate will play a key part in delivering Sense’s strategy to reach 50,000 people with complex disabilities by 2026. Central to this strategy is our plan to deliver growth in our charitable projects and to build several new multi-million-pound hubs in Belfast, Leeds, and the Southwest. These hubs will significantly increase the number of people who can access our services, helping to bring forward the day when no-one is left of life.

Sense has a strong track record in Trusts fundraising over several decades. We have recently secured several 6 and 7 figure statutory partnerships, and we have talented colleagues in post, but there is room to grow, and Sense is investing. This year, we have also welcomed new corporate, major donor, prospect research, and special events colleagues to the team, and this new role is part of the same planned investment. 

This is a full-time, either hybrid or homebased, permanent role, working between home and our offices in King's Cross as required. We are open to hearing from candidates who want to work 5 days or 4 days a week
 

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop and manage a robust portfolio of prospects and supporters to meet income targets 
• Research and identify potential funders for unfunded Sense projects/concepts
• Work closely with key stakeholders, sector partners and leadership to grow pipelines, this includes monitoring of Trusts, Foundations and Statutory funding portals
• Lead on funding applications to a range of Trusts, Foundations and Statutory funders, including coordinating inputs, writing narrative applications and application budgets
• Lead or support the grant management of key Trusts, Foundations and Statutory funders’ grants. This includes: ensuring compliance against contracts, quality assurance, and submission of funder reports

Skill, Knowledge, and Experience:

• Experience of generating income and achieving financial targets in a high value role
• Experience of working with a Trusts and Foundations pipeline, or a Statutory pipeline, making sure opportunities are identified, recorded, and taken forward 
• Direct experience of developing and submitting six figure plus proposals for Trusts Foundations, Statutory funders, or equivalent 
• Experience of working with Senior Volunteers and/or Leadership to engage prospects and supporters
• Able to write strong, persuasive narrative for six figure plus proposals and reports
• Able to communicate with passion and clarity 
• Comfortable representing the organisation and developing new leads and relationships
