The Opportunity

You’ll play an important role in supporting our digital channels, campaigns, and content creation - from social media and newsletters to website updates and event communications. COMMUNICATIONS ASSISTANT - PERSONAL SPECIFICATION
Essential:

COMMUNICATIONS ASSISTANT - JOB DESCRIPTION
REPORTING TO HEAD OF COMMUNICATIONS
DIGITAL COMMUNICATIONS
WFN’s communications amplify the work of Whitley Award winners, raise the profile of the charity, bolster fundraising efforts, and contribute to global conservation conversations, positioning WFN as a leader within the sector.
- Monitor, and create and schedule content for WFN’s Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, YouTube, and LinkedIn accounts, helping to grow engagement and channel performance, driving traffic to WFN’s website, and sharing charity, winner, and sector news – in line with WFN’s communications strategy and with oversight from the Head of Communications (HoC)
- Lead management of WFN’s photo library and footage archive (Google photos): naming, categorising, and uploading winner and event photos
- Support delivery of social media campaigns during the lead up to events to drive engagement and/or donations, and supporting with posting content throughout the event period
- Help produce video content
- Support production and distribution of our regular e-letter (through MailChimp)
- Work with the HoC on WFN’s website to regularly review and update content
- Draft copy for website news stories and any additional copywriting as needed throughout the year
- Assist the HoC with monthly reporting on the website, social media platforms, newsletter and media coverage
- Support digital event communications including creation of e-letters, e-invitations, website pages, email signatures and visual assets.
PR
WFN shares impactful stories that resonate with supporters and demonstrate we can make a difference. Throughout the year, we actively work to secure PR coverage for Whitley Award winners. Increased visibility helps winners to attract further funding, gain new connections, and increase political clout – all tools which strengthen conservation work.
- Produce reactive social media to share PR coverage secured by the HoM
- Create and distribute toolkits for press and partners to bolster media campaigns
- Collate charity and winner press coverage, including website news pages, throughout the year
- Support the Head of Media (HoM) and HoC in responding to press enquiries and supplying materials.
EVENTS
Whitley Awards Ceremony
The Whitley Awards are the result of an international search to find, fund, train and put a spotlight on outstanding grassroots leaders and their conservation projects. Finalists are invited to London for a week of training and events, culminating with the Whitley Awards Ceremony, where winners receive their Awards from WFN Patron, HRH The Princess Royal in front of 400 guests and many more tuning in via our livestream.
The Communications Assistant will assist the team in planning and delivery of events during the Whitley Awards Ceremony week, including the Friends Reception, Ceremony and NGO Reception, particularly in the following areas:
Communications
- Assist with supplier liaison across event filming, livestream, and photography
- Help create event visuals and on-screen graphics
- Support with creation of the Ceremony invitations and booklet
- Support with sourcing additional material for the Whitley Award films as needed
- Support the HoC with creation and uploading of content to the website and across social media platforms, including press releases, photographs, news stories, winner pages, and films.
Other WFN Events
Throughout the year WFN holds other fundraising and engagement events ranging from intimate dinners with supporters, winner talks, events as part of our Next Gen programme and major initiatives such as Biodiversity Summits which will require the CA’s assistance.

The Senior Fundraising Officer role is a key position within the Fundraising Team in Wales with the main aim to secure income from Grants, Trusts & Foundations and Corporates. The Senior Fundraising Officer will work against annual targets to achieve the RSPB's goals, playing a key role in building financial support for nature.
What's the role about?
The Senior Fundraising Officer will be expected to:
- Identify, develop and deliver fundraising projects and match these to agreed priority areas to maximise income.
- Lead on the development of funding plans for priority work as allocated.
- Contribute to the implementation of an agreed fundraising opportunities and lead on large funding bids across one or more income stream.
- Scope, develop and manage funding relationships and multi stakeholder bids to optimise opportunities and ensure successful funding arrangements.

- Able to articulate understanding of GDPR and data protection relating to funder/supporter information and how to use a fundraising database such as Raisers Edge, Care or Salesforce.

About the role

This role would suit an energetic and ambitious events professional, who is looking to progress in their career by supporting the delivery of a demanding programme of events to the highest standard. With the support and guidance of the Special Events Manager and Head of Fundraising, this is an exciting opportunity to develop your career skills and play a vital role in the growth of our events programme at an exceptionally well regarded and well-run charity.
Please note this is a meternity cover role, expected to end in February 2027. All office based staff are expected to attend our office in Holborn at least 2-days per week.
Key responsibilities
Special Events
• Co-ordinate logistics for CTS fundraising and organisational events including managing event paperwork and processes, such as invitations and RSVPs
• Manage events as directed e.g. lead on the delivery of the annual stadium takeover day, golf day and/or other events as required
• Responsible for administrative support for CTS fundraising events including maintaining attendee and gift records on our Raisers Edge database
• Responsible for proactively sourcing auction items and the fulfilment of said auction items and raffle prizes to be used at CTS and third-party fundraising events, including developing partnerships with potential auction donors (both individual and corporates)
• To effectively manage the tracking, distribution and coordination of all cricket tickets and hospitality associated with auction prizes throughout the year
• To support with sales for CTS events, such as golf days and fundraising dinners, through prospect research
• To recruit and manage volunteers to support CTS fundraising events
• To regularly monitor the events inbox
• To manage and support the delivery of activities that may occur in partnership with other charities
• To co-ordinate and manage invitations to hospitality opportunities
• To co-ordinate and manage evaluation of events
• To produce all event collateral including but not limited to copy for invitations, thank you letters, event programmes, auction cards, flyers and brochures

• To ensure that the CRM database and donor records relating to all events are kept up to date

We are looking for someone with the skills, experience and passion to join our team of trainers. They will be responsible for approximately 20 puppies from the age of around 8 weeks through to approximately 16 months of age. Ensuring they receive the highest standard of socialisation and training, thereby maximising their chances of becoming a Medical Detection Dog.
Responsibilities
Training and Development of Puppies
- Take responsibility for a group of puppies allocated to socialisers living in your geographical area
- When required, take dogs home during the training period to ensure continuous development and reinforcement of training routines.
- Provide training that adheres to ADUK regulations and MDD quality standards in accordance with timescales and targets.
- To deliver effective training by holding puppy classes, 121’s and home visits with socialisers in your geographical area
- Conduct regular training sessions with assistance dog puppies in training in various environments to ensure they are confident and responsive in real-world settings
- To prepare the puppy to be a Medical Alert Assistance Dog, using positive reinforcement techniques to teach desired behaviours and modify unwanted behaviours
- Regularly monitor progress of the puppies in your area and provide detailed, evidenced feedback to the senior team within Dog Supply and training
- Support and assist when required with the potential matches for a particular assistance dog partnership.
- To successfully prepare the puppy to pass the relevant Assistance Dog assessments
- Where necessary, highlight to your line manager, any dogs that are not progressing sufficiently through the training programme
Socialiser Support
- Be the first point of contact for the socialisers in your area, which will include guidance, support and instruction to socialisers on effective work and training with their assistance dogs.

Socialiser Recruitment
- When required, assist in the recruitment of new volunteer socialisers.
- When required, to assess prospective new volunteer socialisers, including home, workplace, pet dog and children assessments.
Other
- Update the Harlequin CRM database in a timely fashion to ensure accurate and up to date training, veterinary and health records.

Across two sites in Watford and Hemel Hempstead, our work helps to build family resilience in the pivotal early years of a child’s life. Our specialist early intervention work delivering multi-disciplinary therapeutic play sessions, parent training/modelling, family social respite events and family support provides holistic family centred work aiming to build foundational skills for life
The Family Support Lead will coordinate our Family Support service across all locations providing holistic support to families of children with a physical disability/delay living in Hertfordshire, always keeping close adherence to best Safeguarding practice and procedures.
The role involves working with the Head of Family Service and Operations and Head of Development to develop the Support Worker team to deliver high quality family support. This may mean supporting families in group settings, family centres or in the home and holding caseloads with a holistic view in how to best meet need.
