First Steps ED are looking for a passionate and strategic Head of Fundraising and Communications to join our team and help make a difference in the lives of those we support. First Steps ED provide person-centred support to our service users for a range of disordered eating and eating disorder presentations.
The Head of Fundraising and Communications will lead on the development and implementation of strategies to diversify and grow our income streams, strengthen our brand, and increase engagement with key audiences. Reporting directly to the Chief Executive Officer, the postholder will be responsible for building and maintaining relationships across trusts and foundations, corporate partners, individual donors, and community supporters. This role will also oversee all aspects of external communications and marketing, ensuring a consistent and compelling voice for the organisation across digital, print, media, and stakeholder channels.
The Head of Fundraising and Communications will provide line management and strategic direction to the fundraising and communications team, with accountability for delivering income targets and enhancing the charity’s profile and impact.
Role Overview:
This position requires a strategic leader who will be a proactive engagement lead and support the charities overall strategy and mission. You will have a proven background of successful fundraising activities, diversifying engagement and income and cultivating key relationships through communication strategies.
Key Responsibilities:

Some of the area you are expected to work on are the following, and the rest can be defined by you:
- Budgets and Targets: You are directly responsible for the budgets, and income targets attached to Fundraising and Communications.
- Engagement and Income Diversification: Develop and implement strategies to diversify income streams, including legacy giving, corporate partnerships, individual donations, and major donors.
- Marketing and Communications Strategy: Create and implement strategies to reach a wider audience through innovative marketing and communications channels.
- NHS and Private Sector Opportunities: Identify and pursue new business opportunities within the NHS and private sector.
- Relationship Management: Manage key relationships with donors, partners, and stakeholders.
- Team Leadership: Manage and support Fundraising, Marketing and Communications officers, ensuring alignment with fundraising goals and charity objectives overall.
- Lead our flagship campaigns: This year we are developing an online campaign, currently called Scroll Safe, to tackle the issues with online safety, we are included in the parliamentary act, and we wish this to be a multi-year campaign. It is in development for 2025, and you are expected to hit the ground running. Other campaigns include Eating Disorder Awareness Week, and Christmas.
- Digital Agency and PR Management: Oversee the work of digital agencies and PR consultant to enhance online presence and engagement with public relations and media outreach.
- Ambassadors and Patrons Management: Engage and manage relationships with ambassadors and patrons to leverage their support and influence.
- Web Development Leadership: Lead the development and maintenance of the charity's website to ensure it effectively supports fundraising and communication efforts as well as providing clear and concise support to our service users, carers and professionals.
- Manage our portfolio of events: We have an emerging trend in challenge events, and we manage these carefully and mindfully especially long-distance sporting events. This requires key insights in trends and work with our marketing team on key insights.
- Working with the CEO: You will identify opportunities for strategic communications and growth. You will network with likeminded individuals from other charities and build sector connections.
- Senior Leadership Team: You will be an integral part of our Senior Leadership Team, which means working across the whole charity on tasks that may pop up, and planning with the team our Organisational Development.
Qualifications:
- Experience: Minimum of 5 years in a senior fundraising and communications role, preferably within the charity sector.
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, Relationship Management, or a related field.
Skills:
- Strong strategic planning and implementation skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
- Proficiency in fundraising software and CRM systems.
- Strong leadership and team management skills.

We are looking for a permanent and full-time member of staff to help develop and manage RSTMH’s profile within tropical medicine and global health. We need a passionate and creative communicator who can play a key role in meeting our communications objectives. This role is office-based in central London, with the option to work from home on Mondays.
RSTMH is a membership society formed in 1907, with around 1,800 members and Fellows in over 100 countries. We work to improve tropical medicine and global health by enabling and promoting research, sharing knowledge and convening networks through our members and Fellows and beyond. The Communications Manager will have the opportunity to develop and enhance RSTMH’s reputation as a credible and trusted voice in tropical medicine and global health.
This is a wide-ranging and exciting role. You will lead on implementing the organisation’s communications strategy, working with the leadership team to ensure it meets the aims of the wider RSTMH strategy. You’ll maintain and further develop the website and social media platforms, build links with media contacts, and source, commission and develop content. The Role
- Implement RSTMH’s communications strategy, in line with the wider organisational goals

Community Fundraising Manager
This is an exciting opportunity to join an ambitious and talented fundraising team
We are looking for an experienced Community Fundraising Manager to join our small and friendly fundraising team. You will be responsible for driving our strategy for Community Fundraising, Individual/Regular Giving and Events. With a database of around 100,000 registrants and 15,000 members, these existing income streams have lots of great potential. We have amazing fundraisers in our community who take on challenges like the London Marathon, London to Brighton bike ride, or their own swimming challenge and there’s lots of great potential amongst our supporters, including our committed members and regular givers.

We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Digital Learning Content Specialist to join our Sector Support team. Overview of the Philanthropy Manager role and the team
Barnabas Aid is seeking a proactive and experienced Philanthropy Manager to join our International Outreach team. This new role is integral to ensuring the growth and sustainability of our work through regular or one time organisational and personal donations. The Philanthropy Manager will develop and implement a comprehensive strategy in support of this, targeting potential supporters who wish to leave a lasting impact through Barnabas’ work. The role will involve cultivating relationships with current and prospective organisational and private UK based and international supporters, overseeing communications and marketing strategies, and ensuring that Barnabas Aid’s fund raising programme is promoted effectively across all channels.
As part of a dynamic fundraising team, the Philanthropy Manager will work closely with the Head of Campaigns, the Living Streams Officer, and the Head of Communications. The role will also involve engagement with donors, ensuring that Barnabas Aid is at the forefront of supporters' minds when it comes to making donations or leaving a legacy for future generations of Christians in need.
Main duties and responsibilities
- Fund Raising Strategy:
- Develop and implement a comprehensive donation, legacy marketing and stewardship strategy, with the aim of increasing the number of organisational, regular and one-off individual donations in addition to legacy gifts to Barnabas Aid.

- Fund Raising Marketing:

Purpose of Role
As Digital Fundraising Lead you’ll oversee Comic Relief’s Digital Fundraising & Engagement programme, from strategy to delivery; managing and developing a team of high performing colleagues. Strategy & Planning

We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced, qualified Finance professional to lead our Finance & Operations function.
About the Role
Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer the Interim Head of Finance & Operations leads on and assumes day to day responsibility for providing high quality, strategic financial management for Career Ready.
You will lead on business operations to ensure the ongoing effective functioning of the charity and drive sustainable growth.
The Interim Head of Finance and Operations plays a key role in leading greater organisational efficiency and simplifying processes and will continue the delivery of a project plan reflecting the 2025-30 strategy.
You will play a critical role in driving the increased quality of Career Ready’s offer to our stakeholders in line with our strategy, vision and values.
Member of our SMT, comprising of the CEO, Director for Scotland, Director of Programme and Partnerships and Heads of functions.
This is an interim role to cover a period of maternity leave.
Main responsibilities and accountabilities
· Lead, direct and manage the finance and operations functions, overseeing two direct reports, ensuring they deliver a high-quality service to all internal and external stakeholders and are seen as adding value, in enabling Career Ready to achieve its vision and strategic objectives through its people.
· Continue the delivery of a project plan reflecting the 2025-30 strategy, ensuring that activities happen at pace, are deadline-driven and achieve a high level of impact.
· Assume overall responsibility for the financial management of Career Ready, working with the SMT to ensure high quality and effective use of charitable funds.
· Input into and review the financial elements of funding applications and ensure that fund accounting processes align with funders’ requirements for project reporting.
· Produce financial reports for various stakeholders, as well as leading on financial modelling.
· Have oversight of all financial and accountancy matters including month end reports, management accounts, cash flow management, compliance, tax liability, presentation of management information and KPIs. Ensure that the CEO and Trustees are provided with accurate, timely information and analysis.
· Oversee and coordinate the fully managed payroll services with the external bureau for all Career Ready employees and for some internship students (Jun to Aug during the Summer)
· Administration of the Staff Opt-In Pension Scheme, including onboarding new staff (Royal London)
· Act as a role model in our ‘one team’ culture. Lead in the development of efficient working practices across the charity, creating momentum and supporting motivation within the charity.
· Lead risk management strategies and internal control procedures to minimise the risk of loss, or damage to, Career Ready’s assets.
· Prepare and submit annual operational budgets and annual accounts to the CEO for review and approval.
· Draft and deliver papers for Trustees and Finance and Fundraising Committee (F&FC) meetings.
· Attend Board and F&FC meetings to present papers and answer questions related to areas of expertise.
· Provide day to day line management of the Senior Finance Officers and support their ongoing growth and development.
· Management of organisational governance and compliance activities, including policy management.
· Oversee and manage the organisation’s risk management register and process, with input from SMT.
· Oversee reviews and renewals of all insurance policies that affect the organisation.
· Lead on the compliance of statutory and charity regulatory reporting, giving guidance to colleagues where required.
· Ensure any changes to processes and procedures across the function are clearly documented.
Person Specification
Essential skills and experience
- Belief and commitment to Career Ready’s mission and values
- Qualified (ACA/ACCA/CIMA/AAT) accountant with at least 5 years’ experience in financial management including budgeting, preferably in the charity sector.
- Significant experience in producing management and financial accounts
- Skilled in financial reporting and producing VAT returns
- Preparing for and ensuring a successful year-end audit, and demonstrable knowledge of UK Charities SORP and other reporting standards
- Experience in budgeting to support strategic decision making.
- Financial dexterity and strong analytical skills.
- Strong IT skills, including advanced MS Excel skills and extensive of using an accounting software, preferably Xero
- Excellent organisational and prioritising skills and ability to work independently and with autonomy
- Strong starter finisher with ability to lead and drive projects
- Knowledge of charity governance and compliance requirements
- Ability to build excellent relationships and have effective engagement with stakeholders
- Good communication skills and ability to communicate financial concepts to non-finance staff

Salary and Benefits
Salary: £52,000 to £54,000 FTE (salary will be pro-rata for part time hours)
28-35 hours per week. Career Ready is committed to supporting condensed/flexible working patterns.
Permanent and remote. Travel to London required on an occasional basis
