Battersea’s Finance and Corporate Resources directorate is responsible for leading, developing, managing, and supporting the financial, technological, infrastructure and compliance services across Battersea. We are looking for a Systems Accountant to join our Finance Team. This person will manage and administer Battersea’s key finance system, Oracle NetSuite, and support with broader process improvement projects across the function. They will be responsible for ensuring the integrity, efficiency and functionality of financial systems and processes to support effective and accurate financial operations. They will also play a key role in delivering an excellent customer experience, delivering training, and advising on best practice. 

The ideal candidate will have significant experience maintaining financial and reporting systems, be proficient in the use of Oracle NetSuite, and be CCAB-qualified.

Our location

We are based in Hatfield, Hertfordshire, so we are easily accessible by road and rail. But one thing we have learned from the pandemic, is that we are able to work very effectively from home. As a Project Officer, you will organise and deliver engagement activities with local community groups, community leaders, businesses, schools and volunteers on our community led infrastructure and National Cycle Network projects.

The Role

Responsibilities include:

• Delivery of a consistent high-quality customer-centric support services, such as allocations, income, and tenancy management
• The operational performance for an area of our supported housing, managing key areas such as health and safety, compliance, finance, customer satisfaction, and lettings
• Partnership working – building and managing our relationships with a range of local authorities and external partners
• Ensuring that services are delivered within approved budgets, in accordance with contractual requirements and within legislative and regulatory frameworks and best practice
• Leading on investigation of complaints and cases of anti-social behaviour, ensuring resolution

What you'll need

You should have previous experience in a similar role, either with a background from within housing or experience with partnership working and leading successful teams. Knowledge across specialist housing is advantageous but not essential. You’ll also need:

• Demonstrable team leadership experience, developing and supporting a high performing team
• Excellent stakeholder management experience, with an ability to build effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders
• Effective communication skills, influencing and adding challenge where needed

Role Overview

This position requires a proactive approach to ensure the smooth functioning of Operations and Facilities across our company. 

The ideal candidate is a self-starter, with proven organizational skills and able to manage time and prioritise workflow according to the fast pace of the role. Office management, operations administration and project management/development experience preferred. The candidate will be able to work independently, while being of support to the whole team; they will have a keen interest in developing in Operations and Project Management, as well as strong customer service experience and upbeat personality. 

Central Services ensures the company operates smoothly and assists in working towards Enables strategic direction. Supporting the various services that make up Enable, Central Services consists of small and high output teams including Human Resources, Marcomms, Operations and Finance. Together, these teams make up the foundation of our business, driving our mission and fostering growth and development. 

Job Purpose

• Review procedures to streamline and increase efficiency, including IT procedures, office management procedures, stock up keep etc. 
• Reception: Post and deliveries collection and dispatch, welcoming visitors and responding to queries. 
• Stock check of the staff shared space, responsible for orders placement and financial spend tracking. 
• Responsible for shared inboxes related to fleet management, operations, maintenance and feedback.
• Managing a central system for monitoring and logging complaints, comments, Freedom of Information Requests making sure all are dealt with in accordance with the procedure and reporting figures quarterly. 
• Tracking insurance claims and accidents report for quarterly KPIs. 
• Manage company performance data, ensuring deadlines are met and reports ready for client.
• Manage the repairs tracker, raising POs and maintaining accurate budget records with input of invoices and purchase orders raised and support mangers with the preparation of financial reports. 
• Collect data regarding current stock, i.e. warranty length, equipment health and durability, etc, to support Operations Manager in developing a more financially strategic approach toward IT equipment 
• Become first point of contact for IT queries, ability to resolve basic IT issues, before escalating to IT service desk. 
• Seeking quotes for goods and services in line with Enable’s Procurement Code. 
• To comply with all Enable Codes of practice and policies and procedures concerning data protection and health and safety. 
• Required to occasionally travel inside and outside of the borough either by driving, cycling or using public transport. Required to drive Enable’s vehicles both in and outside the borough when appropriate.

The successful candidate will have

• At least 1+ year of experience in an Office Management, Operations Administration or Facilities Management position
• Strong customer service skills and the ability to deliver excellent employee experiences
• Experience creating and monitoring databases
• A friendly, positive and helpful demeanour
• Basic knowledge of current Building Regulations and  maintenance/repairs
• A thorough understanding of Health and Safety standards

Battersea's Global Programmes Department advances Battersea’s ambitious plans to play a global role in positively impacting thousands of dogs and cats. Senior Ecologist

About the role

We are looking for a new team member to use their skills and experience to make a difference to peoples’ lives, encourage sustainability and help protect and improve the natural environment.

Our vision and mission have never been more relevant.  Across the UK governments are pledging investment and action on walking and cycling with an increasing demand for high quality infrastructure. As part of this we are keen to further develop the National Cycle Network as a network for nature, as well as people. To help achieve this Sustrans produced a Biodiversity Action Plan (BAP) in October 2023.

As the Senior Ecologist you will advise staff on all ecological aspects of Sustrans work across the north of England, as well as parts of Scotland and Wales (as required). 

In collaboration with colleagues and partners across a wide range of disciplines, you will undertake field surveys, manage ecological and arboricultural sub-consultants, prepare reports to support planning applications and use your expertise to help shape the design of new walking and cycling paths so that they benefit people and wildlife.

Candidates should be based within the geographical area with regular travel expected to either hub base in Manchester or Leeds.

About you

You should be a skilled ecologist with significant experience in relevant previous roles and a higher-level vocational qualification, or degree in ecology or associated subject.

Your expertise will help to embed best ecological practice across the charity and shape our approach to delivering biodiversity improvement as part of route management and construction activity across the UK, with an emphasis on projects in our Northern region.

As an excellent communicator, you will have good verbal and written communications skills demonstrable in ability to communicate effectively to a range of different audiences. You will also be skilled in ecological report writing including reviewing and interpreting third party reports.
