Job description

Barnardo's is looking for an experienced analyst with strong Power BI skills and a passion for the charity sector to join our Analytics team in Digital, Data and Technology. The Analytics team is a central function providing insight, information and data to the whole charity in all functional areas. This includes interactive reports, ad-hoc pieces of analysis and consultation on other teams' analytical work. We use Power BI, traditional statistical techniques, economic theory and advanced data science models to influence decisions both internally and in the wider sector.

Working as a Senior Data Analyst here would give you the opportunity to help us achieve Barnardo's mission by exercising responsible stewardship over our analytical output and enabling our colleagues to make well-informed decisions. You will:

  • Develop our existing Power BI suite to better serve the needs of our stakeholders.
  • Review and feed back on the work of other analysts, setting the standard for what good looks like.
  • Establish and disseminate best practice in the team and beyond.
  • Conduct and advise on pieces of analysis in all domains.
  • Present and communicate results to stakeholders, taking their feedback on board.

Who we're looking for:

  • 3 years' Power BI experience. Especially developing models, writing measures and calculated columns, and working with deployment pipelines.
  • 3 years' experience in analytical roles.
  • Experience with programming languages (e.g. Python, R, SQL).
  • Strong mathematical and analytical capabilities either from experience or higher education.
  • Great communication, written and verbal, with stakeholders at all levels of seniority and technical expertise.
  • Experience providing feedback on analytical work to both aid development and establish best practice.
  • Experience working in an Agile environment.
  • Someone passionate about Barnardo's mission.
  • Desirable: someone who has worked with Microsoft Fabric.

What you'll get:

  • Access to great learning and development opportunities. Many analysts here have undertaken formal training courses in chosen areas of interest.
  • Opportunities to support a wide range of functional areas with really varied tasks. Our work supports influencing campaigns that are taken to government, retail stores, finance, children's services and beyond.
  • Opportunities to coach and develop other analysts, providing you with support in your career progression.
