About the role 

As our chief strategy and governance officer, you’ll report directly to the chief executive and play a key leadership role as part of Sense’s chief officers’ group. You’ll lead business planning, performance, risk, governance, safeguarding, health and safety, internal audit and project management across the charity—ensuring strategy and delivery are aligned at every level. 

You’ll also serve as company secretary and oversee our legal and regulatory compliance with the Charity commission and Companies house, while championing an inclusive approach to governance that empowers disabled people with complex needs. With a team of senior leaders reporting into you, you’ll shape culture, drive improvement, and model the leadership values that make Sense a truly people-centred organisation. 

This is a hybrid role based from either Birmingham or London, with frequent travel.

• Lead the delivery of Sense’s strategy through robust business planning and performance frameworks.

Do you want to work with multiple-award winning charity, FoodCycle? Our vision is to make food poverty, loneliness and food waste a thing of the past for every community – including our school communities!​

We’ve partnered with 4 schools across London to bring our free community meal to their families after school hours, with the additional goal of helping connect families with each other and the school and introducing kids to new healthy food.​

By joining us you’ll gain an understanding of different aspects of local project delivery for a national charity. Our school meals happen on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday evenings, and we would ideally like you to work your hours across these three afternoons/evenings. This role will lead all global financial accounting and statutory reporting. The role

Effective financial management is central to our strategy and operating model. The Finance Manager will be crucial in determining how we manage our finances, resources and operations whilst embedding a culture of financial efficiency and effective controls.

Reporting directly to the CEO, the Interim Finance Manager will lead on financial matters and be expected to provide critical financial information, insightful analysis and timely reporting to facilitate the growth of the Charity.

Being a financial ‘all rounder’, there is a real opportunity to contribute to the way the Charity operates by instilling sound financial operations and providing meaningful financial reporting. The role provides an opportunity to lead the finance function and will suit a progressive accountant looking for this kind of responsibility.

To be successful in this role, you will be a motivated, flexible individual, who is passionate about working with young people around their sexual health.

The postholder will conduct outreach, education, and training in several settings depending on the needs of different young people. These could be educational settings, youth settings, community events, sports settings, clubs and pubs. You will target vulnerable young people, such as looked-after children (LAC), those who are not in education, employment, or training (NEET), those who come from areas of high deprivation and high need, and those with other increased risk factors, as well as young people aged 13-15 who are not yet able to access online services.

As part of your frontline work, you will encourage young people to sign up for a C-card, and, if aged over 16, to register to Get it and order condoms and lube from the website. When appropriate, you will refer young people to appropriate local sexual health services for contraception, emergency contraception, pregnancy testing, STI screening and treatment.

You must be able to employ an appropriate and non-judgemental way of working with a variety of young people. You will welcome direction from the SWL Lead, as well as the broader team, but you will also be proactive in seeking new opportunities and mechanisms to deliver the scheme. With the support of your line manager, and with appropriate training, you will be responsible for safeguarding and child protection, ensuring young people under the age of 16 have been appropriately risk-assessed. You do not need to have existing sexual health knowledge to apply for this role, however, a desire and capacity to learn and to work in this field is essential.

You will also deliver high-quality sexual health education and training to young people and professionals alike via outreach and engagement activities. You will ensure that young people are supported in accessing their local contraceptive and sexual health services as needed.

In this key role you will own and lead an innovative membership strategy to achieve ambitious population and income targets by accelerating member acquisition, delivering compelling member experiences, driving immediate engagement, creating long-term loyalty and running membership operations.

You will advocate for the importance of membership at Kew working with colleagues across the organisation. You will lead the membership response to our new brand framework and CRM programme to increase engagement and accelerate support of Kew as a charity whilst embedding our proposition of ‘creating a thriving planet, powered by plants and fungi.’

You will bring extensive experience of leading a significant membership or loyalty scheme. Experienced in turning audience understanding and data in actionable plans to achieve growth, you will be analytical, innovative, creative and commercially driven.

Strong project management skills with good negotiation and persuasion are essential as you work with others to deliver membership experiences.

This role is based at Kew with the option of regular home working, subject to operational requirements.

We are looking for a Strategic Relationships Manager to play a pivotal role in shaping NCVO’s strategic influence and reach. This is an exciting opportunity for someone with deep voluntary sector knowledge, excellent stakeholder mapping skills and the confidence to connect with leaders across civil society.

The successful candidate will lead the way in identifying, mapping and strengthening our most important relationships, from infrastructure bodies and policy influencers to members and strategic partners. You will bring structure and insight to how we engage, using data and intelligence tools (including CRM systems) to ensure we act with clarity, purpose and impact.

This role will also convene and connect stakeholders around key sector issues, sometimes at short notice, enabling NCVO to act with agility and authority. You will support colleagues across the organisation to build confidence in stakeholder engagement, embedding a culture of collaboration and shared ownership.

​This role sits within the Voice and Impact directorate; a team focused on amplifying the voices of charities in civil society and making positive change for the future. Voice and Impact comprises NCVO’s policy and public affairs team; strategic communications, campaigns and marketing team; creative content team and membership and engagement team.

Membership and Engagement is a newly evolved team that exists to grow, connect and convene NCVO’s membership. The team acquires roughly 1,400 new members a year and offers care and support to retain 90% of its current 17K members.
