We have a new role available for a Young People Support Worker to work as part of a team delivering an assessment, support and move on service to vulnerable clients in supported or community based accommodation based in Bishop Auckland County Durham.

About the Role

As Young People Support Worker you will work under the direction, guidance and support of a Service Manager and an Assistant Area Director, you will be responsible for a caseload of clients as well as share responsibility for the safety and wellbeing of all clients, volunteers and staff in the service.

The accommodation service is based in Bishop Auckland County Durham. You will ensure that the accommodation is properly maintained and support the client to sustain their tenancy and participate in positive and successful move on. Key responsibilities include:

• Ensure the safety and wellbeing of all clients, following safeguarding and emergency procedures as needed.

• Act as key worker for a caseload of clients, leading on risk and needs assessments and SMART, outcomes-based support plans.

• Provide personalised, flexible, and creative support, involving clients in decision-making and encouraging participation in activities.

• Collaborate with external agencies to support clients, adhering to data protection and information sharing protocols.

• Support clients to access Education, Training, Employment, and Volunteering opportunities aligned with their goals and aspirations.

• Contribute to maintaining a safe and welcoming environment, including preparing accommodation for new clients and supporting their transition.

• Assist in coordinating and supporting volunteers and promoting client involvement initiatives and residents' meetings.

• Maintain clear, accurate records and participate in team rotas, including evenings and weekends, carrying out additional duties as required.

About You

You will need to have the following skills and experience:

• Experience working with young people or those affected by homelessness.

• Understanding of the needs of individuals facing homelessness, mental health issues, substance misuse, or the care system.

• Knowledge of risk assessments, support planning, safeguarding, and health and safety procedures.

• Strong literacy, numeracy, IT skills, and commitment to diversity, equality, and professional integrity.

• Ability to maintain professional boundaries, work collaboratively, and reflect on practices for continuous development.

Job summary
 
Reporting to the head of growth and sitting within the engagement team you will:

• recruit volunteers by promoting Re-engage’s services,
• develop effective relationships with new and existing referrers such as social prescribers and community link workers
• identify and cultivate new, innovative referral pathways to connect with a broader demographic of seniors experiencing social isolation and loneliness

Engagement officer tasks and requirements

• Growing and developing our network of referral partners, including social prescribers and link workers, ensuring that Re-engage's work is promoted to people aged 75 who are experiencing social isolation and loneliness.
• Partnering with communities to create regular, volunteer led, social gatherings for people aged 75
• Utilise Re-engage's CRM (OPUS) to inform evidence-based, data-driven decision-making to develop effective engagement plans.
• Working closely with the service delivery team ensuring that the right people are recruited and engaged into the right roles, in the right place, and at the right times.
• Collaborating with the communications team ensuring the widest possible publicity for the region’s needs through media and social media opportunities, local press, radio, TV, and online forums.
• Liaising closely with the fundraising team delivering against recruitment targets linked to grants.
• Working with the fundraising team on proposals and grant applications using regional knowledge, identifying local need, and collecting case studies.
• Identifying speaking and presenting opportunities ensuring that Re-engage's work is promoted to referrers.
• Working effectively as part of a regional team, maintaining, and growing all Re-engage services.
• Joint accountability, with colleagues in the region, for the engagement of older people and recruitment of volunteers into Re-engage's portfolio of services
• Carrying out any other reasonable tasks assigned to you by your line manager.

HOMES FOR WELLS is looking for a dynamic new Chief Executive to lead our organisation into the next phase. As a small local Housing Association in the beautiful town of Wells-next-the-Sea we house local key workers in affordable rented accommodation.

We are a Charitable Community Benefit Society, a RSL and a CLT. We have a board of volunteers and two part time staff – a Chief Executive and an Administrator.

We are seeking a new Chief Executive to be responsible for the day to day running of the organisation which currently manages around 30 properties.

The successful applicant will have housing and management experience, good IT skills and a positive outlook.

This is a 3 day a week position, but we can be flexible, and we expect you to be too.  Some evenings will be required.

Salary according to experience but we will pay up to £50,000 full time equivalent.

We’re looking for a dynamic person with drive, energy and enthusiasm.

You will have a track record of leading and managing and will have experience of housing associations and their governance. 

 You will be confident in working with local government officials, other stakeholders and tenants. 

As well as an understanding of the law relating to residential tenancies you will have strong numeracy and literacy skills and experience of providing financial reports. Initially providing a hot meal, clothing, and advice to those who came for help, Spires has developed into an organization that provides a range of services, including day centre style drop ins for homeless people, a Women’s drop in, a Refugee drop in and outreach targeted at supporting Women who are sex working.

In this role, you’ll be responsible for:

The Lead Coach is primarily responsible for overseeing the training room and group sessions with young people. You will help shape the training environment and will confidently adapt and deliver materials and sessions to work within the group’s development towards work readiness.

Delivery of Spear Programme - Group and 1:1 coaching [60%]

• Preparing and coaching Spear Foundation sessions and 1-1s, ensuring that young people are engaged, retained and work-ready by the end of this initial phase of the programme

• Adapting the Spear coaching material according to the needs of the Trainees and managing behaviour effectively; handling safeguarding

Training the Graduate Coach [10%]

• Developing relationships with Job Centres and local referral agencies to ensure that the maximum number of Spear Trainees are enrolled on each programme. This involves liaising with referral agencies, active face-to-face recruitment and monitoring recruitment statistics

Continuous professional development

• As the Spear programme is run in partnership with a local church partner, you will establish a strong personal connection with the church to develop the engagement and backing of church members and help build a strong network of supporters for the Spear programme. How are staff supported to work remotely?
