Role purpose
Southampton Hospitals Charity is looking for an organised and motivated Supporter Care Assistant to join our team. We are committed to excellent stewardship, so every supporter feels valued and confident that their gift is making a difference.
As the first point of contact for many of our donors, you will play an important part in delivering a consistently high standard of customer service.
In this role, you will look after our supporter care inbox, responding to a wide range of enquiries, from questions about donations to more sensitive concerns, with empathy, care and efficiency. You will also help to process incoming post, making sure donors receive the right thanks and acknowledgement for their support.
Working across our different income streams, you will help us deliver thoughtful, well-planned stewardship. You will use our CRM, to keep records accurate, up to date and compliant, ensuring preferences are recorded and that every supporter is looked after appropriately.
You will bring strong attention to detail, a willingness to learn, and experience of providing excellent customer support. Main Responsibilities
Supporter care and administration
- Manage the supporter care inbox, responding to enquiries, feedback and complaints in a timely, professional and compassionate way.
- Process donations and supporter information accurately, following agreed procedures and ensuring acknowledgements are issued promptly.
- Maintain high-quality supporter records on the CRM, capturing key details and preferences and ensuring data is accurate and up to date.
- Support stewardship activity by preparing and sending thank-you communications and helping to deliver supporter journeys across in memory and legacy income streams.
- Process and thank donations received via post, sign posting to colleagues using our CRM when appropriate.
- Lead on the processing and thanking of campaign income as a result of our fundraising appeals and campaigns.
- Work closely with colleagues to resolve queries and continuously improve the supporter experience, identifying themes and suggesting practical improvements.
Supporter communications and relationship building
- Provide friendly, clear and consistent communication with supporters by email, telephone and post.
- Handle sensitive conversations with care, including bereavement-related enquiries and in-memory giving, signposting to colleagues where needed.
- Supporting the IMO and Legacy Manager to identify and fulfil key touch points in the supporters’ journey to enable donations and assist in providing communications as the need arises.
Teamwork and collaboration
- Work closely with colleagues across the charity to share information, resolve queries and ensure supporters receive a joined-up experience.
- Contribute to a positive, supportive team culture by being approachable, dependable and willing to help where needed.
Supporter care compliance
- Support the accurate input and maintenance of supporter data, ensuring records are updated promptly and consistently.
- Follow data protection and fundraising compliance requirements, including recording consent and communication preferences.
Person Specification
Knowledge and experience
- Experience in a customer service or supporter care role, responding to a range of enquiries with professionalism and empathy.
- Experience of processing and recording information accurately, following agreed procedures and meeting deadlines.
- A strong understanding of what excellent stewardship looks like, with a focus on supporter satisfaction and retention.
- Confidence using IT systems, including Outlook, Word and Excel, and experience of working with a CRM or database (or the willingness to learn).
- An awareness of data protection and confidentiality, and the importance of recording consent and preferences accurately.

We are looking for a Data Management Officer to support the effective use of organisational databases and systems, working closely with the Data Quality Improvement Manager. The role will play a key part in supporting colleagues to access and use data systems effectively, administering platforms including StaySafe, and contributing to organisation-wide reporting.

Manage all new donor streams for the Trust, including mail, email, regular giving, mid-value supporters, and legacy prospects, while delivering multi-channel campaigns and creating strong welcome journeys. Convert one-off donors into regular givers, ensure smooth transition to long-term stewardship, and develop strategies to grow legacy and in-memory giving.
MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
This role’s primary responsibilities will be as follows:
1. Develop and implement the Trust’s strategy across regular giving, one of donors, mid value and legacy pledgers to acquire and steward new donors. Working with the other Individual Giving Manager and in consultation with the Head of Fundraising and Communications.
2. Prepare and monitor the annual income and expenditure budget with support from the Head of Fundraising.
3. Responsible for delivering existing integrated campaigns spanning direct-mail, partially addressed mail, inserts, telephone acquisition and digital channels against the agreed schedules, targets and budgets.
4. Work closely with the Database Manager (and relevant agencies) on criteria for data selections, data extractions and supply.
5. Measure attrition in key acquisition groups as well as other key metrics on an ongoing basis and develop strategies to reactivate and mitigate against donor attrition.
6. Work with a creative agency on campaigns across all Individual Giving streams, testing and adapting regularly to optimise results.
7. Work with the other Individual Giving Manager focused on retention, Database Manager and the appointed fulfilment house to ensure that supporters are managed to the highest level of donor care standards and GDPR guidelines.
8. Continue to develop the regular giving acquisition proposition to grow each segment of supporters and negate attrition.
9. Maximise Gift Aid income from the acquisition appeals.
10. Working with Legacy Administration team lead on legacy marketing.
11. Remain current on developments to GDPR, especially to consent and ensure all campaigns comply with those guidelines.
12. As appropriate, to support and participate in any fundraising event organised by the Trust.
13. Undertake other tasks as appropriate as directed by the Head of Fundraising & Communications.

Clinical Research Manager
The Clinical Research Manager will play a key role in advancing ARUK’s drug prioritisation activities as part of the Clinical Accelerator Programme. Working closely with the Senior Clinical Research Manager, this role will drive the identification, evaluation, and progression of high-potential drug candidates toward clinical trials, delivering tangible impact for people affected by dementia.
This role is vital in advancing Alzheimer’s Research UK’s research objectives and organisational strategy and will be key to delivering impact for people affected by dementia. The Clinical Research Manager will manage the planning and delivery of ARUK’s drug prioritisation activities working collaboratively with external stakeholders and various departments across the organisation, including the wider Research, Fundraising and Policy, Communications and Involvement Teams to develop the programme and ensure successful delivery and measurable impact.
This role sits within the Clinical Research team in the Research Directorate, an ambitious, proactive and growing team that is driving forward initiatives to bring more clinical trials to the UK for people living with or likely to develop dementia. With the first generation of disease modifying treatments recently approved, this is an exceptional opportunity for an individual with strong research experience who understands the clinical research environment in the UK, to contribute to groundbreaking work in dementia research, aligning with and advancing on the Government's new investment initiatives in the Dame Barbara Windsor Dementia Goals.
Key Responsibilities:
1. ARUK Drug Prioritisation Programme Delivery and Development
· Lead on the identification of therapies with the potential to be prioritised for clinical trials in Alzheimer’s and other types of dementia through literature search and communication with the clinical research community and key external partners, with support from the Senior Clinical Research Manager.
· Lead the development and drafting of high-quality scientific dossiers that directly inform prioritisation decisions and progression of drug candidates.
· Lead the translation of recommendations from external advisory panels into actionable next steps.
· Work with the Senior Clinical Research Manager and the Senior Clinical Programmes Operations Officer to plan drug prioritisation activities, including meeting logistics, panel engagement, feedback and to track and evaluate progress.
· Identify, evaluate, and drive forward high-impact opportunities for drug prioritisation and clinical development in consultation with Partnerships, Evidence and Funding teams.
· Design and embed scalable processes to proactively monitor the global drug development landscape, utilising databases, conference intelligence, and literature to curate a dynamic intelligence log that tracks therapeutic candidates, development progress, and emerging opportunities across industry and academia.
2. Driving the advancement of the Clinical Accelerator Programme and delivery of key components of its strategy
· Drive planning and implementation of new activities as relevant to continually develop and advance the clinical research strategy
· Collaborate in mapping the clinical research ecosystem, identifying gaps in research and recommending actions to address them.
· Keep abreast of developments and trends in dementia clinical research to influence ARUK's strategies and decisions.
· Support and continuously strengthen internal reporting mechanisms, ensuring timely, high-quality updates to Senior Leadership and relevant boards that enable effective governance, informed decision-making, and strong organisational coordination
· Work closely with the Research Involvement Manager to integrate best practices in involvement and co-production to ensure our research is relevant for and supported by people affected by dementia
· Ensure effective information-sharing across internal stakeholders, including Research, Fundraising, Finance, Policy, Communications and Involvement teams, to maximise the visibility, uptake and strategic use of Clinical Accelerator Programme outputs.
· Aid in the planning, production, and communication of clinical research-related content with the ARUK Communications and Fundraising teams.
3. Strengthening Relationships with External Stakeholders
· Foster and nurture relationships with clinical leaders and research funders in the UK to build the profile of ARUK’s clinical research and help us to accelerate research towards a cure.
· Work closely with our Research Partnerships manager to maintain and build partnerships that further our clinical research objectives.
· Support the Senior Clinical Research Manager and Head of Clinical Research in enhancing ARUK’s external profile through active participation in meetings and collaborations with key stakeholders.
Knowledge, skills and experience needed:
· PhD in a relevant biomedical field or equivalent experience in clinical or scientific research
· Strong ability to critically interpret and evaluate pre-clinical and clinical data
· Familiarity with the drug development process of taking a therapy from pre-clinical studies to regulatory approval.
· Excellent stakeholder management skills.
· Demonstrable commitment to collaborative and inclusive working.
· Proven experience in project management with the ability to adhere to deadlines and prioritise tasks.
· Understanding of research programme management.
· Experience or understanding of preparing scientific dossiers or evidence summaries to inform research prioritisation, funding, or strategic decision-making.

Ways of working:
As part of our Agile ways of working you will be required to work approximately 2 days a week from the office, which is subject to the requirements of the role and the business needs. Flexibility on where you work can be split between working from home and our office.

Team Leadership & Development
- Lead, develop and motivate the Supporter Care team, fostering a positive, inclusive and supporter-focused team culture.
- Manage and maintain a robust internal call handling and outbound calling training programme — covering inbound supporter care, retention and winback conversations — for both members of the Supporter Care team and across the organisation.
- Ensure internal SLAs are met, overseeing quality through delivery of response times (by channels) and credible and clear communications with our supporters.
Supporter Care & Experience
- Oversee the delivery of high-quality, timely and empathetic responses to supporter enquiries across all channels, including handling complex enquiries, complaints and managing escalations where needed.
- Act as Operation Smile UK’s supporter experience expert, shaping and reviewing supporter-facing content, acknowledgement letters, calling scripts and digital communications to ensure a consistent, high-quality experience across all touchpoints.
- Own the development and review of all supporter-facing communications and internal supporter care materials, ensuring they reflect best practice and deliver a consistent supporter experience.
- Manage and monitor the call review and vulnerable persons programme to ensure high standards are maintained in all telephone interactions, including those involving external agencies.

Supporter Retention & Engagement

Budget & Performance Monitoring
- Support the development and monitoring of budgets relating to supporter care activity, including response handling costs and supplier spend, working collaboratively with the wider fundraising team to maintain oversight of response forecasts and performance.
- Monitor supporter care and experience performance, analysing feedback, satisfaction data and operational KPIs to drive service improvements.
- Contribute to supporter experience initiatives and transformation projects, supporting the implementation of improved processes, systems and ways of working, and proactively identifying opportunities to enhance the supporter experience.
- Set, monitor and report on supporter response times and service level targets across all communication channels, ensuring the team consistently meets or exceeds agreed standards and identifying areas for improvement.
Data, Processes & Compliance
- Ensure accurate and efficient processing of supporter income and data, overseeing processes including Gift Aid, data handling, reconciliation between systems and daily banking of income received.
- Manage the development and documentation of procedures covering all supporter care processes and data capture.
- Support colleagues in their use of the CRM database and maintain data entry procedures.
- Maintain Operation Smile UK’s commitment to supporter care and data protection, and ensure that policies relating to these areas are developed and upheld.
Cross-Team Collaboration & Partner Management
- Work collaboratively across fundraising, communications and data teams to ensure a consistent, high-quality supporter experience across all campaigns and channels.
- Take a lead in managing relationships and processes with response handling agencies and other external partners.

Woodgreen is looking to appoint a full time Supporter Relations Executive on a 12 month fixed term contract to cover a period of maternity leave. In this role you will help to grow the engagement, loyalty and value to Woodgreen by ensuring that our supporters always feel valued and know the difference they are making to pets and people across the UK. - Maintain the fundraising database, and other CRM platforms, so that all supporter details are complete, accurate and up to date in order to comply with GDPR regulations.
- Administer the Gift Aid Programme ensuring Gift Aid declarations are accurately recorded and scanned to maximise Gift Aid income and compliance with HMRC rules and regulations.
- Work collaboratively and positively across the charity, building close working relationships with colleagues to ensure knowledge and key information is shared and obtained so all enquiries received can be answered with accuracy, confidence and professionalism.
- Be responsible for processing and fulfilling supporter requests for fundraising materials such as, Money Boxes and Fundraising Packs so supporters receive the information requested in a timely manner in line with service level agreements.
To be considered you will need to have;
- Significant administration and data entry experience.
- Significant customer service experience in a multi-channel environment.
- Significant working experience with a Customer Relationship Management (CRM) Database.
- Demonstrable experience of effective communication at all levels across an organisation.
- Detailed understanding of Data Protection principles and legislation.
- The ability to multi-task, prioritise and manage your workload to meet deadlines.
- The confidence to use your own initiative when dealing with customer enquiries or complaints.
This is a full time hybrid position working 37.5 hours per week. It is expected that the successful candidate will spend approximately two to three days per week at our Godmanchester site.
The starting salary for this position is £27,300 - £29,426 per annum depending on experience. This is complemented by;
