Fine Cell Work (FCW) is a charity and creative social enterprise committed to the rehabilitation of people in prison, and post-release. Our innovative Open the Gate (OTG) programme at our Battersea Hub offers work experience, volunteering opportunities, accredited training, mentoring, and signposting support to participants/ Apprentices at any point on their resettlement journey.
About the role:
We are now looking for an experienced and dynamic Engagement and Support Officer (ESO) to join our team. The successful candidate will have a comprehensive understanding of the challenges faced by people in contact with the criminal justice system and will work proactively to establish meaningful and sustainable cross-referral pathways with external agencies. They will nurture a professional, inclusive, and safe working environment; use their knowledge, insights, and expertise to support tangible outcomes for all Open The Gate participants; and develop the wider programme offer in line with our organisational objectives.
In line with our risk management policies and processes, the successful candidate for this role will be expected to support Open the Gate Apprentices with a range of offending histories. Key responsibilities:
1. Nurturing a professional working environment where Open The Gate Apprentices are supported to achieve their potential.
2. Building and maintaining referral partnerships with external agencies [including HMP resettlement teams, probation services, approved premises and community-based organisations supporting prison-leavers] to increase participant numbers and sustain engagement with Open the Gate.
3. Coordinating applications and referrals for prospective Apprentices, gathering relevant information for dissemination to the wider team.
4. Working with colleagues in the Programmes team to develop risk management and support plans for each Apprentice, using information regarding offences, licence conditions and risk areas, liaising closing with the probation service and other agencies where relevant.
5. Ensuring timely, accurate, and safe recording of all information and personal data.
6. Case management of Apprentices, including action-planning and goal setting in consultation with the Workshops Manager, supporting Apprentices to achieve work-ready outcomes in an agreed period.
7. Providing day to day practical, pastoral, and sign-posting support to a caseload of Apprentices and providing ad-hoc support to graduate Apprentices when required.
8. Working with the wider team at Fine Cell Work to develop and coordinate a series of employability and creative wellbeing workshops for Apprentices.
9. Supporting small grant application processes on behalf of Apprentices.
10. Responding to safeguarding concerns in line with Fine Cell Work policy and procedure.
11. Supporting the Volunteer and Programmes Manager with the delivery of the Service User Involvement Strategy and championing service user involvement across the organisation more broadly.
12. Supporting the Volunteer and Programmes Manager to recruit and deliver training to mentors and other volunteers in roles supporting Apprentices.
Working with the Volunteer and Programmes Manager to develop and enhance the Open the Gate mentor offer including as the first point of contact for mentors pre- and post- mentoring sessions.
Knowledge and Skills for the role of Engagement and Support Officer:
Essential
- The ability to build rapport, establish trust, and work non-judgementally with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
- At least 3 years’ professional experience working with adults in contact with the criminal justice system, assessing needs and risks, and formulating support plans.
- Excellent organisational skills and an ability to manage competing priorities on a daily basis.
- Experience working alongside probation and other key workers to formulate risk management plans in line with licence conditions.
- Demonstrable experience of adult safeguarding and a proven ability to assess, manage, and effectively communicate risks and vulnerabilities.
- Demonstrable experience in seeking opportunities to increase referrals and build new referral pathways.
- A proven track record of case management, and experience ensuring all case records and caseload processes are clear and up to date.
- Experience in impact monitoring and evaluation and working to agreed targets and tangible outcomes, including supporting the writing of reports to Senior Managers.
- The ability to cope with the inherent challenges and demands of the role, maintaining well-being while effectively supporting Open The Gate Apprentices.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills and a willingness to seek support when needed including accessing clinical supervision regularly.

We are looking for a person who is driven to reach targets through building relationships with bereaved supporters and partner organisations. You’ll also manage warm stewardship of legacy pledgers & become part of a passionate team at JGDR.
Hours: 35 hour per week (with occasional weekend or evenings)
Location: This is a hybrid role, with regular travel required across our operating regions – including North and South Lincolnshire, Nottinghamshire, and East Yorkshire. The postholder will be expected to work flexibly in the community or on the road for meetings with supporters or partner organisations on at least four days per fortnight, with a minimum of one day per fortnight worked from a Jerry Green Dog Rescue Centre (North Lincolnshire, South Lincolnshire, or Nottinghamshire). The postholder will also be expected to attend regular team meetings in an agreed location.
As our sites are in rural locations, holding a full UK driving licence and having access to your own vehicle is essential. (Business mileage is reimbursed according to JGDR’s expenses policy.)
Purpose:
We are seeking a confident, compassionate and target driven individual to lead on the delivery of JGDR’s in memory giving programme and support the delivery of legacy marketing.
Working with the Individual Giving and Legacies Manager, you will be driven to reach targets through building relationships. You will follow up with supporters who have given in memory of their dog, family member, or friend – often following a funeral collection – and help them take the next meaningful step, such as setting up a remembrance page, making a further donation, or exploring other ways to honour their memory. This role is responsible for raising circa £40,000 per year from a portfolio of in-memory products – with aims to grow this valued income line.
You’ll also manage warm stewardship of legacy pledgers and help deliver long-term marketing activity to keep gifts in wills front of mind.
This role would suit someone from a bereavement, funeral, or supporter-facing (sales or fundraising) background who is confident converting warm leads into action with care and professionalism.
Your role
You will sit in the Individual Giving and Legacies team and report to the Individual Giving and Legacies Manager.
Your focus will be on:
- Growing income from in-memory giving through proactive supporter engagement and lead conversion.
- Delivering light-touch legacy marketing and warm legacy stewardship, in support of long-term growth goals.
Responsibilities
In Memory Fundraising
· Work with the Individual Giving and Legacies Manager to develop and deliver the operational plan for in-memory fundraising, including campaign ideas, journeys and stewardship.
· Engage with in-memory donors via phone, email, post and in-person conversations, offering remembrance pages and other meaningful giving options.
· Proactively follow up leads and develop a pipeline to track progress and maximise conversion.
· Convert warm leads into active fundraising, donations, or page creation on our tribute fund platform, MuchLoved.
· Develop and maintain relationships with funeral directors, pet crematoriums and celebrants.
· Promote in-memory giving internally, supporting Operations, Retail and wider Fundraising and Marketing teams to spot and signpost opportunities.
Legacy Marketing & Pledger Stewardship
· Work with the IG and Legacies Manager to craft and execute legacy marketing campaigns and materials, supporting with copywriting and creative development.
· Oversee stewardship of legacy enquirers, intenders, and pledgers, ensuring they feel valued, thanked and connected
· Organise and deliver events or moments of recognition for pledgers, to promote legacy giving to long-term supporters and other target audience groups.
· Manage relationships with relevant agencies and external suppliers, e.g. free will writing services, local solicitors, and Remember a Charity Week.
- Champion legacy giving across JGDR, including working closely with colleagues in Operations and Retail to ensure that Centres and shops are equipped with the information and training needed to promote legacy giving effectively.
Other Duties
· Contribute content for social media, fundraising newsletters, publications and local media to support marketing objectives and increase our engagement with adopters, supporters and donors online.
· Keep up-to-date with sector trends and developments in legacy and in memory giving
· Attend ad hoc supporter and community events to represent JGDR and promote legacy and in memory giving
· Act as a champion for fundraising compliance across the organisation, including ensuring adherence to the Fundraising Regulator’s Code of Fundraising Practice, the General Data Protection Act and PECR, and other relevant legislative requirements
· Manage any complaints from supporters with empathy and professionalism, ensuring sensitive issues are escalated and resolved appropriately.
· Act as a collaborative role model to the wider team, and build strong working relationships with colleagues across the wider charity to be an internal ambassador for Fundraising and Marketing

We are seeking an individual to undertake the dual role of promoting the profile of the RAF Benevolent Funds welfare offer, whilst also carrying out welfare casework. This is a community-based position working from home but covering the South East of England, East Sussex, West Sussex, Surrey, Kent and Essex.

This is home based and the candidate must have their own vehicle for use of traveling around the region covered. Occasional travel to London will be required. The successful candidate for this role will need to be Enhanced DBS checked and prove they have the right to work in the UK.

The Business Development Lead will play a critical role in driving the financial sustainability of Child’s i Foundation. Job Purpose
This role sits within our crisis alternative service, Safe Space, which is a core and out of hours service providing a safe and welcoming space for people who are feeling distressed and experiencing crisis. Our aim of the service is to keep individuals well in the community and prevent readmission into hospital. The service operates 365 days a year from 14:00-22:00pm across all of our boroughs.
Staff within the service will provide person-centred, practical and emotional support, face to face or via telephone or virtual on a one-to-one basis to individuals experiencing mental health crisis or preventing crisis.
The objectives of the service include:
- To improve the mental wellbeing of people experiencing mental health and social crisis in HFEH.
- To proactively work with keeping people well in the community to reduce re-admitters into hospitals by working with WL NHS teams (e.g. discharge, LPS, CATT, MINT and SPA)
- To provide a true alternative to A&E via a non-clinical drop-in service to support clients
- To provide support to clients accessing the service- for instance: signposting, de-escalation and crisis recovery planning.

Person Specification
• Minimum of 1 year working in mental health services and with clients experiencing mental health distress and crisis
• Experience of line management within a mental health setting
• Experience of de-escalation
• Experience of managing challenging behaviour and dealing with clients with complex needs
• Evidence of continual professional development
• Understanding of the Recovery Model in mental health
• Understanding of the principles of trauma informed care
• Understanding of suicide prevention and safety planning
• Experience of managing safeguarding risks and understanding legal requirements for safeguarding adults and children
• Understanding of how to report and mitigate risks
• Understanding of the relationship between mental health and social issues and how these issues may impact on physical, mental and emotional wellbeing
• Understanding of relevant legislation and policies
• Understanding safeguarding adults and children processes and legal requirements
• Awareness of issues in mental health service provision
• A good understanding of mental health conditions

• Car driver with sole ownership of a vehicle and ability to travel to multiple locations (e.g. NHS sites and community sites) would be essential.
