About the role:

The purpose of this role is to lead on the development and submission of tenders and proposals, working with a range of internal stakeholders and partners to translate organisational data into cohesive and compelling submissions that convey Victim Support's service offers and fully address commissioner and funder requirements.

To succeed in this role you will have a proven track record in leading business development through public sector contracts. You will be an excellent communicator and collaborator, as well as skilled in building sustainable partnerships that add value to services.

In September 2024, National Numeracy launched a new ‘Schools & Families’ programme to support Primary School staff, parents and carers in increasing pupils’ confidence with numbers, positive feelings about maths, and awareness of the value of maths outside of the classroom. The programme also works to improve parents’, carers’, and school staff’s own confidence with numbers and with supporting children with their maths.

The programme has been hugely successful and is growing rapidly – we have now secured funding to deliver activity in all four nations of the UK and we are working with almost 300 schools currently.

The Schools & Families Programme Officer will support the Schools & Families Programme Manager in managing fast-paced activity across the UK, particularly delivering online training directly to school staff, recruiting schools, and visiting selected schools to ensure the success of the programme.

The Service Manager will be responsible for the operations of one service in Berkshire (Slough) which supports one individual to live in his own home.

The individual is a sociable and engaging man with a warm sense of humour and a deep appreciation for nature, music, and familiar company. He lives with a diagnosis of moderate learning disability, autism spectrum disorder, psychotic illness, epilepsy, and type 2 diabetes, all of which require thoughtful and consistent support. The customer has been living successfully in his current placement for over ten years, where he benefits from the continuity of staff who know him well, understand his routines, and help him maintain a sense of safety and autonomy.

The role will provide line management for a team of seven Specialist Behaviour Support Workers, ensuring that compliance with organisational, legal regulations and those of the local authority are adhered to and the quality of support is of the highest standard possible, ensuring excellent quality of life for the customer and a good working environment for colleagues.

The service has received a CQC rating of Good. The current team size includes 5 FTEs (Specialist Behaviour Support Workers) plus 2 FTEs Waking Night Support Workers, ensuring comprehensive support coverage across all shifts.

The working pattern for this role is primarily Monday to Friday, 9 am to 5 pm, with occasional requirements for weekend and out-of-hours work to meet service needs.

The anticipated start date for this role is October.

The initial contract duration is 6 months, with potential to become a permanent role after this period.

About the Role

About The Felix Project

The Felix Project is London’s largest food redistribution charity. Our vision is a London where good food is never wasted, and no one goes hungry. We aim to reduce the negative impact food waste has on the environment by working with the food industry to rescue high quality surplus produce, that would otherwise have gone to waste. Felix’s Kitchen is the longest running Production site we have here at The Felix Project, the staff and volunteer team in the kitchen, turn surplus food into almost 5,000 meals a day. These meals are cooked and packed on site and then go into our network of depots and on to some of the 1,200 community organisations we support.

This role is support in the managing of the day to day running of the kitchen, its team, the food production and packing of the meals and all aspects related to these responsibilities. Assist The Kitchen Manager in all aspects of the operation and planning for the kitchen.

No two days are ever quite the same in our kitchen, we work with volunteers and surplus food this means we adapt and thrive in a fast and changing environment. This role supports and oversees the entire operation, from the kitchen and chef team to the packing room and packing team, our volunteers and engaging and organising within the wider Felix Project.

Duties and Responsibilities

Your normal duties and responsibilities will be set out in your job description. However, the charity may require you to perform other duties from time to time. 

• Support all kitchen staff so they can fulfil their role
• Assist in the smooth running of the kitchen and packing area, taking a hands-on approach
• Ensure that the operation hits its agreed targets of production
• Responsible for the quality control of the cooked and packed meals, and that all correct HACCP procedures are followed
• Responsible for Health and Safety in the kitchen, food safety and record keeping and keeping all records up to date
• Oversee kitchen maintenance and cleaning
• Overseeing shift planning and the rota for the entire kitchen team
• Ordering of all food and other materials needed in the kitchen
• Connect and work closely together with the team at the Poplar Depot, we are attached to
• Ensuring all staff and all volunteers have all relevant training and are well supervised & supported
• Maintain relationships with the wider Felix team and key connections of the Felix kitchen
• This role will be operational, with some management and administrative duties
• Willingness for the role to develop

Person Specification

This is a truly unique role, and we are looking for someone to bring their own skills, experience and flair to the role. We are looking for someone to help set and maintain very high standards in the kitchen.

The ideal candidate will be someone who is eager to continuously improve, whether this be food quality or process or working relationships. The kitchen has achieved some great successes over the last 4 years, but we are looking for someone to continue that improvement and the impact we can have across London.

Essential Criteria

• Experience in hospitality/catering management and/or kitchen management role
• Eagerness to improve processes and solve problems
• Comfortable with all aspects of H&S, Food Safety and HACCP procedures or a willingness to learn
• Demonstrable interest in food waste and/or food security
• Clear eye for detail, team player, enjoys the work they do and a strong work ethic
• Comfortable in working in a team and a larger organisation
• Strong people and management skills
• Mature and professional management style, whilst also being able to accommodate vulnerable people with care and consideration
• Flexible in working hours, comfortable in working in a fast changing and growing work environment
• Strong IT, administrative and organisational skills

Desirable skills 

• Previous experience in the charity or surplus food environment 
• Level 3 or higher Food Safety qualified

GUCE Project Manager Role

Community Energy is gaining momentum nationally, where people are increasingly coming together to  take control of their own energy supplies.  Grand Union Community Energy (GUCE, pronounced “juice”) is looking to see local communities along the Grand Union canal in Hertfordshire enjoy a clean and resilient energy system that benefits all.  We develop, support and promote renewable energy and energy efficiency projects for communities from Watford to Tring, and build householder resilience by helping them reduce their bills and energy use.

We are seeking a Project Manager for two days a week, to help develop the opportunities that are forthcoming. Depending on the skills of the applicant the same individual could also cover aspects of other roles we are looking to fill.

About the role

This is an exciting opportunity for a person with experience in project management to join our small but expanding team. The Project Manager for Community Energy will be responsible for converting opportunities for local renewable energy generation and energy efficiency projects into reality. They will take projects from concept, through funding and construction to management.

Key responsibilities will include:

• Deliver new potential projects, such as opportunities with Watford industrial units:

  • Work with technical specialists to assess the energy needs of the community, including energy demand, infrastructure, and renewable energy potential (solar, wind, biomass, etc.).

  • Identify and engage stakeholders (local authorities, local organisations, energy providers, and residents).

• For new and existing projects: 

  • Develop and monitor an overall plan to realise projects including timelines, budgets, resources and risk management strategies in conjunction with the Development Officer / Project teams.

  • Manage share offers.

  • Communication with potential local investors.

  • Manage paperwork.

  • Ensure the projects are realised rather than remaining just good ideas.

  • Work with others to manage cross-functional teams, including installers, contractors, and local community leaders.

  • Coordinate with local authorities, regulatory bodies, and partners to ensure compliance with regulations and standards.

  • Foster a collaborative environment with all project team members.

  • Develop and manage project budgets, ensuring all costs are tracked, controlled, and aligned with available funding.

  • Work in partnership with the installer to oversee the procurement of materials, equipment, and services necessary for the project.

  • Track the progress of energy projects against objectives, milestones, and KPIs (key performance indicators).

  • Regularly report to stakeholders, funding agencies, and community members on project status and outcomes in collaboration with Project teams and Comms.

  • Ensure projects are delivered on time, within scope, and within budget.

Terms and Conditions

Salary: Pro-rated salary for 2 days per week, £13,000 to £19,000 per annum (£34,000 to £47,000 full time equivalent) depending on experience plus 3% pension contribution.

Hours: 2 days per week (15 hours). The working hours can be flexible.

Location: Home-working, ideally within the GUCE catchment area from Watford to Tring.

You will need to travel to meet stakeholders, attend relevant meetings and visit potential sites. You may be called upon to work outside office hours.

Contractual arrangements: 12 months fixed term with the opportunity to extend, subject to 3 months’ probation.

There is a notice period of four weeks from both sides.

Holidays: The equivalent of 28 days per annum excluding Bank Holidays, pro-rata for the part-time nature of the post.
