BIAS’s welfare and housing advice service supports members of the local Irish community and beyond with a range of complex issues, including disability benefits, pensions, Universal Credit, Irish passports, homelessness, rehousing, tenancy sustainment and disrepair. We are looking to appoint a dynamic, enthusiastic person who has a background or demonstrable interest in advice, welfare or housing to join our friendly advice team. Your role will involve contributing to the establishment, expansion and day-to-day running of BIAS’s advice service in Haringey borough, providing specialist advice on welfare and housing via one-to-one client appointments, completing casework and advocating for positive outcomes for your clients.

You will need to have strong people skills and the ability to build good working relationships with colleagues, clients and partners, an aptitude for working independently, excellent organisational skills and the ability to digest complex briefs. You will be required to manage an active caseload, ensuring that cases are appropriately actioned and recorded and that deadlines are met. You will work with the Advice Services Manager to build and develop the new advice service in Haringey, ensuring that we replicate our excellent quality of service, strong record of positive outcomes and loyal client base.

KEY WORK AREAS AND MAIN DUTIES

• Providing appropriate advice, information and practical help to clients via in-person appointments, outreach visits, telephone, letter or email. Where necessary, advocating on behalf of clients in the appropriate forums.
• Ensuring that all casework records are kept up to date and completed clearly and effectively.
• Contributing to monitoring service delivery and recording client outcomes.
• Maintaining a good knowledge of other available services, and signposting or referring clients as needed.
• Participating in regular team file reviews and supervision sessions, and contributing to maintaining BIAS’s high-quality service in line with Advice Quality Standard (AQS) requirements. 
• Engaging positively and constructively with other service providers, including local authorities and housing providers, to maintain partnerships.
• Staying up to date with developments in welfare benefits and housing legislation and identifying opportunities to effect positive policy change, together with the Advice Services Manager.

These are the basic duties required of the Welfare and Housing Adviser. However, it is necessary for all staff to be flexible and you may be required from time to time to perform other reasonable duties which are required for the efficient running of the organisation. We will also offer training opportunities to support your career development.

Candidates must be eligible to work in the UK. This role will be based in our advice venues in  Haringey[1], with some presence required at our main office in Willesden and some options for flexible working (i.e. one or two days per week).

[1] BIAS is currently running its Haringey advice services from the Hornsey Vale Community Centre, with plans to expand into additional venues in the borough later in 2025.

BIAS is a local charity which has supported England’s largest Irish community in Brent for over forty-five years. We deliver our support through our welfare advice drop-in service, our active ageing clubs and our Be-a-Friend volunteer scheme. Job Purpose 

• To lead and deliver Butterfly Conservation’s strategic aims for nature recovery in Wales, maximising our impact for butterflies, moths and people.
• To implement BC’s objectives through leadership of the Wales Nature Recovery team, setting and managing budgets, targets and workplans while inspiring and enabling staff to achieve their best.

Main Responsibilities

• Drive delivery of BC’s strategic objectives through designing and managing workplans for the Nature Recovery Wales team, translating ideas into action and ensuring effective reporting to monitor and share evidence of our impact.
• Lead BC’s species recovery work for priority butterflies and moths in Wales, setting objectives and driving targeted action to recover populations of some of our most threatened species.

About the role

The Role

The role of the Events team within Alpha International is to oversee the organising of Leadership Conference (LC) in-person, any events around Leadership Conference (including Donor events, Wednesday CEF event, Alpha Staff day, regional satellite events) and London-based Alpha events across the year (such as Alpha Collective and Experience Alpha).
This role is responsible for managing health and safety across the HTB sites, catering (crew, bloom café, Brompton road food vans and green rooms), internal deliveries and LC app, along with other LC related tasks.

The Key Responsibilities

Logistical arrangements:

o Development and execution of the events Day Plan. This is a minute-by-minute detailed plan that holds all the information of what will take place at the event

o Gathering technical and logistical requirements from speakers, stream leaders and internal departments; then negotiating this with the IT, Production, Vergers and Volunteers Teams or with an external venue or AV suppliers

o Determining catering requirements and caterer management

o Hiring of any additional venues as required and HTB site logistics

o Attending site visits (for external venues that might be used)

o Hiring of any additional equipment required for the event

o Liaising with the Production, IT, Verger, Worship team and all other internal departments

o Ensuring any legal and insurance tasks are thought about and in place for the event taking place

o Creating floor plans for the vergers to use

o Liaising on interpretation needs are met including BSL

o Liaising regarding speakers and associated tasks including contracts, gifts and accommodation

o Liaising and implementing programme decisions

o Developing and implementing new floor plans and layouts at events

Staffing:

o Oversight of the busy Leadership Conference inbox for guest queries

Safeguarding 

o Linking in with the Safeguarding Lead if any safeguarding issues come up in the inboxes or at the event

Debrief

o Debrief to be done for different areas involved in 

Leadership Conference Week Responsibilities

o Taking a lead role on several key packages assigned to this role

o Create and maintain comprehensive event documentation

o Writing papers on the different areas for senior management to review as and when is required

o Stay within the budget allocated and make adjustments to event constraints based on financial situation. Looking for ways to save money on all areas you look after

o Developing and implementing new and improved processes 

o Holding the Alpha standard on communication in everything we do or send before, during or after the event

o Attend senior leadership meetings to provide updates as an when is required on your different areas

o Managing admin across the event, dealing with sign off,  budgets and compiling post event reporting – to take learnings for next years event

o Looking at ways to improve LC year on year by researching competitor events and market knowledge

o Any other event related tasks to support Head of Events

Head of Programme Management

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and driven Head of Programme Management to lead the delivery of two flagship initiatives, Inside Job and Choirs Beating Time. You will be responsible for ensuring high-quality, consistent delivery across prisons and the community.

You will be based in Birmingham or London. Expensed travel will be part of the role to attend our prisons, for partner meetings and organisational collaboration. It’s essential you can drive, and you have access to a car. We also have a long-standing partnership based in Newcastle.

Working closely with the CEO and COO, you’ll help shape operational strategy, refine delivery processes, and scale the impact of our peer-led employment and music-based rehabilitation programmes. This is a leadership role at the heart of an innovative, mission-driven organisation committed to supporting people leaving prison into meaningful work and purposeful lives.

Due to the nature of this role, you will be required to obtain security clearance from the Ministry of Justice to work within prisons. This clearance enables team members to have key access and carry out their duties safely and effectively.

Working closely with prisons and their staff, people in prison, Shannon Trust volunteers and mentors, this post will support with the delivery and development of our literacy and numeracy programme in the Central region, maximising opportunities for people in prison to learn to read.

Ideally you will have some experience of prison settings underpinned by the ability to build relationships quickly and personal qualities that include resilience, determination and a problem-solving approach. You will also have a willingness to travel, sometimes at short notice, to provide short or long term cover within the region including possible overnight stays.

This role will be prison-based. This is a bank role and so the number of days to be worked will vary and are not guaranteed. Health & Safety Coordinator

This is a fixed term contract for 12 months max, to cover maternity leave.

The hours are 37.5 hours per week, Tuesday - Saturday

The role:

The Health & Safety Coordinator will provide support across the Rothschild Foundation to ensure that all appropriate health and safety, risk management, and related compliance systems and procedures are in place, reviewed and updated regularly.

This role is responsible for producing incident reports and submitting RIDDOR reports, undertaking weekly and quarterly playground inspections, as well as responding to all queries - both internally and externally - relating to health and safety.

Key Responsibilities:

• Conduct investigations into workplace and visitor incidents, and be directly responsible for the necessary record keeping and any claims management.
• Working with the Security Department, and supporting as required with fire testing and safety. You will work with the Head of Security on disaster planning and the disaster team in general
• Ensure contractor management policy is followed, and new contractors are onboarded correctly with all documents checked
• Undertake weekly and quarterly routine inspection of the children’s woodland playground at Waddesdon Manor, ensuring all paperwork is completed, reporting any required works, and liaising with ROSPA and the insurers during their annual inspection
• Make the action points for the H&S Committee meeting, distribute these in a timely manner, and support preparation of the agenda in advance of the meeting
• Ensure Heads of Departments update and maintain all risk assessments for their business area and that record of awareness forms are completed annually, and remind Heads of Department about conducting new activity risk assessments
• Coordinate mandatory training for the Rothschild Foundation using the e-learning system and regularly produce reports on staff members that have not completed the required modules and flag to the relevant line manager

Who we are looking for

Candidates will ideally have proven experience in digital marketing and data analytics within the non-profit or charity sector, with strong expertise in CRM systems, marketing automation, and analytics tools. Excellent analytical skills with the ability to translate complex datasets into actionable insights and testable optimisation plans. You will also improve SEO, website performance, and email/direct marketing campaigns to drive conversion. Strong stakeholder management and communication skills, with experience managing agency and partner relationships, are a must. Leadership experience while operating with commercial awareness is valuable.
