This is a permanent, part-time (21.9hr per week, 0.6FTE) role. The role is based at Bloomsbury campus with flexibility to work from home on a 40/60 basis (40% working from the office).
We are looking for a Governance & Administration Coordinator to provide servicing and support for our governance meetings. This will involve ensuring meetings and committees are governed to exemplary standards, and to ensure we comply with relevant legislation and other regulatory requirements. You will join the Governance & Compliance team which oversees our governance arrangements, as well as our complaint, disciplinary and safeguarding procedures.
Do you have experience in supporting committees and internal meetings on matters related to governance, organisational planning and oversight? Do you have experience in coordinating agendas, papers and minute-taking for formal meetings with a varied portfolio of meetings, working with different chairs and stakeholders? About Shout Out UK (SOUK):
Shout Out UK (SOUK) is a UK-based award-winning political and media literacy organisation with nearly a decade of experience in delivering impactful educational campaigns. Our mission is to defend and amplify democracy by equipping individuals with the critical thinking skills needed to navigate the complex information landscape and engage as informed, active citizens. We have a strong track record of working with educators and young people across various contexts, and we are the secretariat for the UK’s All-Party Parliamentary Group for Political and Media Literacy.
The Position:
You will be joining our small, passionate NGO to support the delivery of our educational programmes. Reporting directly to the Head of Programmes, you will be tasked with delivering programmes on Political & Media Literacy, counter-extremism, and online safety. This will involve traveling to a variety of educational settings to deliver our programmes, alongside supporting our Head of Programmes and Programme Coordinators to recruit schools and colleges. Projects can vary from media literacy workshops for schools, online harms CPD training, to city-wide democratic engagement stalls.
The applicant needs to be motivated, interested in counter-extremism, and passionate about Political & Media Literacy. The job is based on a 7-month contract, with likely extension (including a 3-month probation period).
Key responsibilities

Deliver a wide variety of programmes across a diverse range of settings and cohorts.

Recruit, coordinate and support schools and teachers across the UK to take up our programmes

Support in updating and creating resources around the topics of Political Literacy, Media Literacy and Counter - Extremism

Establish and maintain effective relationships with teachers, councils, 3rd sector stakeholders through our CRM system.

Travel nationally and/or internationally to deliver

A UK driver’s licence is required (access to a car also is preferable)

Fulfil other duties as reasonably requested
Skills and Experience:
-
Experience in delivering to young people and adults.

Confidence.
-
An understanding of and interest in media & political literacy and counter-extremism (PCVE / REMVE)
-
Ability to organise, prioritise and manage a diverse workload
-
Proficiency in Google Suite (Docs, Sheets, Slides, Gmail) and other relevant software.

A strong interest in political and media literacy, civic engagement, and addressing online harms.
-
Ability to work independently and proactively, taking initiative to solve problems.
-
A bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (e.g., education, social sciences, communications) is preferred.

Strong writing skills are desirable.

Proficient in the Welsh language (if based in Wales)

Must be eligible to work in the UK

Exceptional organisational skills are paramount, enabling independent management of workload, extensive travel, and meticulous planning. Flexibility and adaptability are crucial for navigating dynamic demands, including extensive travel and unpredictable schedules. Excellent time management, a proven ability to manage multiple priorities effectively, and adherence to strict timelines are essential. Finally, the ideal individual should be proactive and self-motivated, consistently taking initiative and thriving in a self-directed work environment.
This position requires an enhanced DBS check, provided by SOUK, in accordance with our Child Protection and Safeguarding policies.

We are looking for a Marketing Manager (Commercial) to lead a team to deliver effective and impactful multichannel marketing campaigns to drive engagement with our services, increase revenue, and support the development and expansion of the Union’s commercial portfolio. We operate a diverse range of values-led commercial services, including bars, cafes, shops and gyms.
