The Role

As our Head of Finance, you will actively lead on the management of all aspects of the finance function to include;

· The production of interim and annual financial statements that comply with the requirements of the Charities SORP (FRS 102).

· Preparing all information and supporting documentation for the annual audit, and liaising with the National Audit Office, and the NFC’s external auditors.

· Supporting the internal audit process.

· Fulfilling the accounting and reporting requirements to Defra.

· Working closely with the Director of Corporate Services and Senior Leadership Team to develop strategic financial initiatives that support financial forecasting, goal setting and financial planning.

You will directly line manage the Finance Manager, ensuring the smooth operations of the finance function.

Your role will also involve:

· Preparing the annual budget

· Overseeing and signing off monthly payroll

· Contributing to the development and management of financial systems and procedures

About You

To be considered as our Head of Finance, you will need:

· To be a qualified accountant with at least five years’ relevant experience

· Senior experience in the charity sector, including producing charity SORP compliant group accounts and monthly management accounts.

· Experience of the financial management of complex restricted funded projects

· Knowledge of charity trading and gift aid arrangements

· Good written and oral communication skills

Key Roles and Duties

In this exciting role you will be responsible for raising unrestricted income from individuals by planning and executing the day-to-day campaigns to recruit, engage and retain supporters through a range of channels.

More specifically this will include:

Strategic Planning and Implementation

Plan, lead, implement, and evaluate strategies to:

• Increase individual gifts through enhancing the donor journey.
• Boost the monthly giving 'thrive fund' programme.
• Develop new individual giving campaigns with a focus on direct marketing across various channels.

Donor Data Analysis and Segmentation

Analyse and segment the supporter base to develop targeted supporter journeys and ask strategies, using donor data from our CRM (Salesforce) to:

• Maximise the lifetime value of donors.
• Ensure effective use of supporter data for campaign purposes.

Stewardship and Donor Engagement

Manage donor stewardship to provide personalised and engaging communications, including:

• Producing supporter materials.
• Building a thanking programme that offers a personal and engaging donor experience.
• Collaborating with colleagues to identify individual stories for impactful campaign content.
• Ensure all activities and contacts are managed through the charity’s CRM system.
• Maximise gift aid opportunities.

Campaign and Material Management

Work closely with the Communications Manager to:

• Create campaigns.
• Generate publicity opportunities e.g. radio, newspaper, online etc.
• Engage ambassadors and campaign specific ambassadors.
• Collect and draft beautiful stories, testimonies and case studies that engage supporters.
• Manage the production of supporter materials.
• Assist in developing Mailchimp email marketing and analyse and evaluate user journeys to maximise impact.

 Innovation and Market Trends

Lead the charge in:

• Coming up with new ideas and initiatives to bolster individual giving.
• Managing a continuous cycle of testing for new channels and techniques for acquisition and retention, based on audience insight and sector trends.

 General:

• Collaborate and communicate well with team members and particularly line manager. 
• We are a small dynamic team; the post holder will work over many areas offering lots of opportunity to work with staff in different departments and learn about the different aspects of charity.

Role Requirements

We are looking for the right person to join the team – this could be someone with experience or someone who is willing to learn and has a strong transferrable skill set.

• Effective campaign copy writing and ability to translate ideas into design briefs.

About the Role​

RUSI’s Terrorism and Conflict team is looking to recruit an expert in the field of terrorism to provide maternity cover for the research group starting from July. The successful candidate will be a self-starter who can generate funding and lead the team’s diverse work portfolio, while reporting directly to RUSI’s Deputy Director‑General.

​

We are particularly interested in candidates with an interest in developing funded research projects in the following areas:

• The intersection between violent extremism and conflict including integrated P/CVE responses.
• State threats and social extremism including misinformation and disinformation.
• International terrorism related to jihadi groups, the transnational far right and other relevant groups, networks and movements.

​

These areas will complement the team’s existing portfolio of work on CT and P/CVE, which includes research, policy advice, training and implementation. We work in the UK, Europe and a number of global ‘hotspots,’ including East and West Africa, Central and South Asia and the Balkans. We also run an active training programme on CT and CVE for diplomatic, development and civil society representatives.​

Our team encompasses 12 staff in London, Brussels and Nairobi and we work closely with an extensive range of consultants and associate fellows from the academic, diplomatic, development and practitioner worlds in the UK and internationally.

RUSI wishes to appoint an acting Research Director on a one-year fixed term contract to provide maternity cover for the Terrorism and Conflict Research Group. This could lead to a permanent research position if funding in the areas outlined above is secured during the year.

The role offers an exceptional opportunity for an individual with at least ten years of experience in the field of terrorism as a researcher, policymaker or practitioner. It is essential that the successful candidate has a strong track record of business development and of securing significant funding. The role involves significant management responsibility including oversight of RUSI’s office in Nairobi and management of T&C’s team in RUSI Europe. 3. Team development: responsibility for developing the capacity and expertise of all team members, particularly junior researchers, to improve their knowledge base and develop their skills in designing and writing research proposals; overseeing and implementing research projects; research skills; academic and policy writing; public speaking; and event organisation.
    
4. Conducting research on terrorism and counter-terrorism: conducting primary and secondary research on terrorism for a range of customers/clients in the UK and overseas; writing and communicating research outputs (published papers, analytical reports, commentaries, conference papers, presentations etc.); editing, supervising and quality control of the outputs of other researchers (within RUSI and/or partner organisations); projecting RUSI’s research in academia, government, industry, and in the media (print, broadcast, social media).
    
5. Project management: ensuring that research projects are run effectively and efficiently and achieve their desired outcomes; conducting project risk assessments; liaising with beneficiaries, partners and funders; supervising the organisation of events and publications.
    
6. Developing skills; expertise and profile: maintaining and developing knowledge in relation to the evolving field of terrorism and CT; and developing a network of CT experts.

• Evidenced and nationally recognised expertise in terrorism, and at least 10 years of demonstrated experience working on these topics in a research, practitioner, or policy role.

• At least 5 years’ experience leading and managing diverse teams and budgets.

Based in the Business Development Directorate, this role will enable Start Network to collaborate with Hub representatives to set up successful resource mobilisation functions in each Hub country and mobilise new funds directly for them. This is a critical role for our strategy and will require someone with experience in setting up ‘income streams’ from scratch (including setting resource mobilisation strategies and fund-raising protocols).

This role requires someone with ample experience in coordinating teams across countries and securing new income from donors. Most Hubs are new entities (small humanitarian networks), therefore the support required will also include capacity-building, donor-mapping, direct engagement on behalf of the Hubs with the donors, and other activities, as defined and directed by the Director. Provision of support to the Hubs will largely be done through remote coordination, facilitation, and engagement.

The business development directorate is mainly based in London but there will be flexibility with regards to where this role sits. At the National Energy Foundation, our team is forward thinking in its approach to home energy and uses its influence and projects to make meaningful change. Our primary focus is delivering projects aimed at alleviating fuel poverty and helping residents to feel warmer, healthier and more comfortable in their homes whilst also helping them cut the cost of their fuel bills. In the next five years, we will seek to help more than 170,000 households out of fuel poverty. Beyond this, we seek to encourage homeowners to make improvements to their homes to increase energy efficiency. To enable this, we deliver several projects aimed at encouraging retrofit of energy efficient heating systems into UK homes.

Job Role

The Finance Director will work with the CEO and the Finance team to collaboratively drive the development and delivery of the NEF’s strategic plans and budgets. The Finance Director will be a member of the NEF’s Senior Management Team (SMT) and will attend the quarterly Trustee Meetings.

Not only will the Finance Director take accountability for the day-to-day transaction processing, ably supported by an effective Finance Team of 3 people, they will take the lead on the budgeting, planning and analysis processes, developing a range of processes and reports to enable effective decision making.

The Finance Director will be the key contact for and work with the auditors, HMRC and other professional advisors and regulatory bodies to ensure that the organisation remains compliant and fulfils its legal responsibilities.

Management

o Manage the Finance function, providing leadership and support to the Finance Manager and their team of 2 analysts to ensure they are all able to carry out their responsibilities to the required standard.

o Provide strategic financial guidance to ensure that the NEF meets all its objectives.

o Contribute to the company’s overall business objectives and guide on financial strategy.

o Act as support and “Critical Friend” to the CEO, deputising for them where required.

Audit, Accounting & Reporting

o Take accountability for the production of timely and accurate financial reports, meeting the deadlines set by the CEO and the Trustees.

o Take accountability for all transaction processing including payroll, invoicing customers, and supplier invoice payments.

o Continually develop the reporting output to ensure that it meets the ever-changing requirements of the NEF and its Trustees.

o Be accountable for all finance systems, making recommendations for their development and implementing changes as necessary.

o Maintain relationships with the auditors, the banks, and other professional bodies.

o Work with the CEO and Trustees to compile and submit the Statutory Accounts and associated documentation.

Budgeting Planning & Analysis

o Working with the management team, set, monitor, and manage departmental and project

budgets.

o Develop and maintain a financial risk register to identify and mitigate against any potential financial challenges facing the NEF.

o Work closely with the Finance Manager and the COO in monitoring the financial performance of the projects and NEF central costs.

o Provide insightful analysis of any variances, making recommendations on how to maximise performance.

o Work with the Business Insight Lead to provide appropriate, timely and accurate information, advice and guidance to the CEO, the SMT and the Trustees.

o Agree the policy for reserves with the Trustees and monitor and maintain compliance to ensure the sustainability of the NEF.

o Support the CEO and Business Development Manger in the preparation of bid tenders and responses

We are looking for two individuals to help deliver an impactful GOALS service across London and build effective networks of support for people before, during and after treatment.

A main aspect of the role will be to support and work closely with individuals presenting with lived experience of gambling harm issues and/or people affected by this issue. The GOALS Supporter will understand gambling related harm and dependency issues and be able to ensure safe working environments and take a robust lead on safeguarding and harm minimisation procedures and policy.

The post holder will work with the Director of Support Services and GOALS Coordinator to support the development and maintenance of the systems and structure of the service, ensuring that governance and polices are implemented, safeguarding and safe working practices are systematic and develop a clear understanding of how the service integrates with the national gambling treatment service.

Other support activities will be developed, such as group support and weekly meet ups.

The post holder will develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, deliver presentations and other promotions within community, education and health centres to help grow and develop the service.

The LSO Development department is looking for a knowledgeable and self-motivated individual to join our team as Trusts & Foundations Officer at an exciting time in the LSO’s history. Reporting to the Trusts & Foundations Manager, the role will primarily work within the Trusts and Foundations team to establish and maintain relationships with grant-giving bodies to help meet and grow income targets. These grants support a range of LSO activities, including projects within our pioneering learning and engagement programme, LSO Discovery; our exciting artistic season at the Barbican Centre; international tours; new commissions for the LSO and recordings produced by our record label LSO Live.
 

About you

Experience in fundraising from trusts, foundations and other grant-giving bodies is essential for this role, alongside strong communication skills, high attention to detail and a passion for creating concise and compelling written copy.  An interest in orchestral/classical music is desirable.

The Trusts & Foundations Officer will also support the wider fundraising of the Department, helping to steward current and potential supporters at concerts, special events, and LSO Discovery projects taking place across east London.
