It makes schools more sustainable, helps communities protect and restore the nature around them. Let’s Go Zero is a national campaign uniting teachers, pupils, parents and their schools as they all work together to be zero carbon by 2030. We’re also working with national government to ensure the right support is in place to help all schools reach this goal through seven policy actions.
The Let’s Go Zero campaign is seeking one Climate Action Advisor based in Cumbria or Lancashire, and one Climate Action Advisor based in North/North East Lincolnshire or Hull, as part of its new climate action advisors project. This initiative will link thousands of schools across the whole of England with advice and support from a network of 31 local climate experts.
About the Role
Do you have a passion for climate action? Are you confident engaging with external stakeholders? We're looking for two advisors to support school leaders, local authorities and others to carry out projects that reduce emissions and inspire students and the wider community. We know schools are eager to take climate action, but often lack the information to do so.
You will play an important role helping them develop their plans, secure funding, and work in partnership to achieve their goals. You will support future new initiatives announced by our coalition members, the Department for Education, or other organisations working in schools, to ensure a smooth flow of information, enabling schools to transition to zero carbon.
This is an exciting and varied role, with the potential to support thousands of schools on their journey to zero carbon.

-
Developing relationships with local authorities, supporting their current initiatives, building on the work already being done to support schools in the area.
-
Attending and speaking in person at local and online events to encourage climate action and promoting sustainability.
-
Visiting some schools in person to provide direct 1:1 guidance to school leaders.
-
Recording all school engagement, advice and action in the Let’s Go Zero tracker and ensuring all team members do the same.
-
Working in partnership with other Climate Action Advisors across England.
Communications:
-
Communicating complex guidance to a mixed audience – helping school leaders, estates staff, finance teams and teachers to understand their impact and possible action.
-
Working with the communications team to generate insights into Let’s Go Zero’s work, contributing to articles and blogs.
-
Producing case studies of action in schools to be shared with the wider climate action network.
About You
You’ll thrive in this role if you have:
-
Excellent interpersonal skills, a flexible approach and work well in a team.
-
A track-record in either climate change, decarbonisation, sustainability or education (obtained through previous roles, volunteering or other routes).
-
A passion and commitment to climate action.
-
A good understanding of climate action in schools, colleges or nurseries.
-
Excellent communication skills to be able to share guidance with school leaders individually and in groups.
-
Strong organisational and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritise accordingly.
-
A collaborative mindset with ability to work effectively with a range of partners and team members and colleagues to help them improve their skills and knowledge.
-
Good IT skills.
It is also desirable (but not necessary) for you to have:
-
An understanding of decarbonisation in the education sector, government education and/or net zero policy.
-
Experience providing advice to others and explaining complex options.
-
The drive to be an active and self-led learner who keeps abreast of developments.
-
Flexibility to work outside office hours from time to time, using sustainable transport whenever possible. You will be managing your own diary.
-
Experience of coordinating meetings and events involving multiple people/teams, with an education or environmental element.

About MPE
Myeloma Patients Europe (MPE) is a pan-European organisation representing 52 myeloma and amyloidosis patient groups from over 33 European countries. It is registered as an international non-profit organisation under Belgian Law. A Board mainly composed of patients and caregivers is elected by the membership to oversee the strategy and governance of the organisation. A team of 13 staff members runs remotely the day-to-day operations, programmes and services within 4 divisions: Access and Policy, Medical Education and Scientific Engagement, Patient Evidence and Member and Patient Community Programmes.
MPE is dedicated to improving the treatment, care and quality of life of patients with myeloma and AL Amyloidosis. To this end, the main goals of the organisation are:
- Collaborating on projects to the benefit of the myeloma community
- Exchanging information and best practice
- Developing existing patient groups and encouraging and facilitating the setting up of new groups
- Helping to shape appropriate health-related policies and initiatives on a European and national level
- Ensuring patients across Europe receive timely access to new treatment
- Stimulating and promoting patient-centred research and clinical trials
- Developing a strong evidence base for the needs and wants of patients and their role in research
About the Patient Evidence department
The MPE Patient Evidence department was established in 2020 to generate evidence important to patients with myeloma and their families and is led by Dr Eilidh Duncan. Our goal is to understand unmet needs in the patient population and design patient-focussed research questions which will support new understandings and knowledge. MPE partners with academia, other patient organisations, industry and regulatory bodies where possible to understand more about what gaps exist within the myeloma landscape and how to best generate evidence on these. We work alongside MPE’s policy and access team to anticipate what questions need to be asked and what the data needs are for upcoming medicines approval processes.
The deadline for applications is June 7th and all applications will be reviewed immediately afterwards. Our hiring team will schedule interviews with successful candidates to take place in the following weeks. We will be in touch following the review period regarding next steps.
If you have any questions in the meantime, please reach out to us at recruitment @mpeurope. org

Evidence Manager
Remote/home working with occasional travel
£38,000 - £45,000 pa plus excellent benefits
35 hours per week
We are looking for a dynamic and creative Evidence Manager to join our Insight and Evidence team.
In this role, you will be playing an essential role in collating, analysing and communicating the evidence on a wide range of issues relevant to our communities.
We already know a huge amount about the priorities, needs and experiences of people who are deaf, have hearing loss or tinnitus. We now want to take this to the next level to inform our evidence-based approach to support our programmes, services and policy work. In this role you will be taking a lead on how we can both broaden and deepen our insight from the available evidence; we want to improve how we communicate and share this information to a wide range of stakeholders; and we want to get better clarity on where the gaps are that most urgently need addressing.
The role is an ideal opportunity for someone who is interested in a wide range of social issues and how they are experienced by and affect our communities. We take an inclusive approach to evidence – we recognise that much important insight is gathered and held in ‘grey literature’ generated by third sector organisations, for example, and value qualitative insights alongside quantitative approaches.
We are looking for someone who embraces this inclusive model and is also flexible and creative: there are novel and interesting approaches to evidence mapping and reviewing (including the use of AI tools, participatory approaches etc.). We are keen to explore how we can incorporate these into our ways of working – whether that be for improved efficiency and/or to bring our communities closer to our work.
You will be working closely with colleagues in the Insight and Policy team, as well as with others across our matrixed organisation to ensure that the organisation is insightful and evidence-led.
You will lead the development of a new approach to our evidence management, in line with our new Insight & Evidence strategy and identify and select the most appropriate methods for systematically mapping, reviewing, and synthesising the evidence on key issues relating to our communities.
You should have strong experience in evidence searching, mapping, reviewing and synthesis, in a social research context. With a solid understanding of both quantitative and qualitative methodologies. You should have a demonstrable ability to distil evidence into a range of formats suitable for diverse audiences.
We are RNID. Together we’ll make life more inclusive for deaf people and those with hearing loss or tinnitus.
Our charity has been through a complete transformation, while building on the best of our past. We’ve returned to our former, much-loved name, become wholly remote working, and established a new strategy, focused on reaching the 12 million people in the UK who are deaf, have hearing loss or tinnitus.
We are creating a radically different culture which is externally focused, curious, evidence-based, deliberate, agile, and future orientated. Our values are at the heart of what we do.
We strive to be and continue to be connected to our communities, insightful and confident in what we do and who we are, curious in everything we do and passionate about our purpose.
We champion the value of difference and equality and celebrate our diverse and inclusive workforce. We actively encourage applications from eligible candidates from BAME backgrounds or who are deaf or hard of hearing. With almost 20% of our employees having a disability we proudly hold Disability Confident Leader status and guarantee an interview for disabled applicants meeting the minimum essential criteria.
Applicants are required to submit a cover letter as part of the application process, highlighting their relevant experience, skills, and enthusiasm for the role.
Closing date: 17 June 2024.
Interviews expected: w/c 1 July 2024.
