About the job role

We have an exciting opportunity for an Events Fundraising Officer in our Fundraising team at St Joseph’s Hospice.

We are looking for an experienced Events Fundraiser to join our small but dynamic fundraising team. The role will be responsible for promoting and managing a mix of third party challenge events and bespoke events whilst providing excellent stewardship to our event fundraisers. 

Working with the Public Fundraising Manager, the post holder will implement a 5-year action plan to increase income, develop effective stewardship journeys and deliver a varied and successful events calendar.

About the role

Your focus will be to deliver high quality housing advice and advocacy in line with the hub’s local community projects, working alongside people who are experiencing homelessness and bad housing to identify issues facing local communities.  You will plan and deliver casework to individuals and communities to resolve their housing situation and engage with community groups, local organisations and individuals to understand local housing issues and raise awareness of people’s housing rights.

You will also work in local community settings and with community groups to deliver advice and rights awareness workshops and make sure that people with lived experience of homelessness have opportunities to share their story, give their opinions and participate in the design and delivery of Shelter services. Offering day to day support to volunteers, providing learning, shadowing and mentoring and being a consistent role model for our values are also key aspects of the role.

About you

You are able to listen to, engage and work with individuals and communities and with all stakeholders, including people with lived experience of homelessness. You will have knowledge of and/or proven ability in housing and homelessness advice and advocacy and are able to progress to specialist level knowledge, training will be provided. You will have the ability to carry out casework related interviews, maintain detailed case records, advise and support clients to make informed decisions, as well as a collaborative, flexible and professional approach to your work.

Following an organisational review, EMMS is creating a new Director of Fundraising role, separating fundraising and communications into two Director posts. EMMS is financially stable with healthy reserves, currently raising around £400,000 per year in fundraised income, plus a significant time-limited major donor gift ending in 2028.

The Director of Fundraising will:

• Lead the development of a diverse, sustainable fundraising strategy across multiple income streams (trusts and foundations, major donors, individual giving, community, corporates, legacies).

• Be hands-on in delivering this strategy, supported by an experienced Head of Partnerships and Philanthropy and a Stewardship Manager.

• Manage and grow relationships with donors and stakeholders, meeting ambitious income targets.

• Oversee budgets, forecasting and reporting, and contribute to organisational strategic and business planning.

• Line manage fundraising staff, setting objectives/KPIs and supporting their development.

• Sit on the Executive Leadership Team and play a proactive role in the wider management and development of the charity, including reporting to the CEO and attending some Board meetings.

What they’re looking for:
An experienced senior fundraiser with a strong track record of strategic income growth across multiple channels, excellent relationship-building skills, strong leadership and team management experience, and knowledge of the Scottish charity and fundraising landscape. You should be confident operating strategically and operationally, familiar with fundraising regulation and good practice, and able to communicate effectively with both Christian and secular audiences in line with EMMS’ faith-based heritage and health mission. Degree-level education or equivalent experience is required; membership of the Chartered Institute of Fundraising (or willingness to join) is expected.

Our client is a national charity whose mission is to improve the lives of individuals and communities facing disadvantage due to the impact of the coal mining industry.

They are currently recruiting for a Senior Social Worker to be based in their office in Pontefract to lead the service delivery within the Yorkshire and North East region, managing a team of office based and home-based Social Work Assistants providing advice and support to former Miners and their dependents.

Role Purpose

Responsibility for the professional leadership and management of service delivery within the regional personal welfare team. The role also involves promoting the service locally and developing partnerships with other agencies for the benefit of the client group.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead and manage the personal welfare team for the Yorkshire and North East region to provide a high quality, professional, outcomes focused service for former Miners and their dependents.
• Ensure the effective management of casework across the team including case allocation and management.
• Manage a small caseload of clients, when necessary, with a variety of needs, by carrying out high quality assessments and providing a range of appropriate interventions in response to assessed needs of the clients e.g. welfare benefits advice, advocacy, emotional support and practical advice.
• Drive service performance and improvement, monitoring efficiency and effectiveness and taking action to address performance or practice issues should they arise.
• Support the team through supervision, appraisal, case reviews and observations.
• Act as safeguarding lead for the region, advising and supporting team members to take appropriate action, ensuring adherence to the organisations safeguarding policy.
• Manage the delivery of a range of interventions predominantly through a home visiting service, including welfare benefits advice, support with mobility, social isolation and financial issues etc.
• Keep updated with relevant legislation and good practice and share such information across the team and wider organisation.

• Represent the organisation at events and meetings as required and co-ordinate publicity and marketing of services in the region in co-operation with head office to promote and advertise the service.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience

Essential:

• Degree in social work or equivalent social work qualification and current professional registration.
• Experience of leading / managing a team in a social care setting with the ability to manage and effectively prioritise caseloads, work with integrity and professionalism and work under pressure.
• Experience of community based social care services with experience of delivery with older people and / or disability services.
• Experience of implementing systems and processes and facilitating change.
• Experience of contributing to the development and updating of policies and practice in line with legislative changes and good practice.
• Good working knowledge of welfare benefits system.
• Knowledge and understanding of the values and principles underpinning working with vulnerable adults and their Carers within the community setting.
• Knowledge of relevant legislation and good practice, particularly in relation to older people, mental health and disability.
• A valid driving licence and access to a vehicle.
• Flexibility to travel across a wide geographic area with occasional overnight stays.

Desirable:

• Experience of social work practice teaching and/or practice teacher status or working towards.
• Knowledge and understanding of the issues facing former mineworkers and mining communities.

Are you passionate about empowering people to improve their mental wellbeing and support for ongoing recovery?

We have an exciting opportunity for a Wellbeing Activities Worker to join our Oxford team. This new role is all about expanding the support we offer to clients, focusing on mental wellbeing and ongoing recovery.

Your work will help connect people with their communities, reduce the risk of hospital admission and rough sleeping, sustain people’s tenancies and enable clients to reconnect with and explore new hobbies  by providing holistic mental health and wellbeing support.

As a Wellbeing Activities Worker you will work across different settings within the community, clients’ accommodation, and day centres to engage and support people experiencing homelessness.

Key responsibilities include:

• Design and deliver 1:1/group sessions and activities to promote good mental wellbeing – such as healthy cooking, exercise, mindfulness, gardening, creative projects, volunteering, and community-based activities.
• Empower clients to access opportunities, attend appointments, and build confidence, resilience, and social networks.
• Collaborate with colleagues and clients on recovery plans, helping set and achieve goals that improve mental wellbeing; may include identifying training, volunteering, and employment opportunities.
• Manage clients’ budgets and personalisation funds, and maintain accurate records such as risk assessments and case notes.
• Recruit and supervise peer volunteers, and ensure client voices help shape service delivery.
• Build strong partnerships with local mental health and wellbeing services.
• Your normal working hours will be (Mon-Fri) on site.

About you

We are looking for someone who can work creatively, and inspire clients to take positive steps to improve  their mental wellbeing. If you bring the below we would love to hear from you:

• Experience of inspiring and empowering  vulnerable people with complex needs, to identify and achieve goals that aim to improve their wellbeing.
• Team working and collaboration skills to work across different services to  overcome barriers for those facing multiple disadvantages.
• Understanding of homelessness and the challenges that impact engagement in wellbeing support.
• Strong communication and organisational skills, with the ability to manage your time and build relationships with clients, colleagues, and partners.
• Knowledge of action planning and confidence using IT systems for administration and reporting.
• Experience delivering activities, in both 1:1 and group sessions.

Events & Experiences Officer (Potteric Carr)

Yorkshire Wildlife Trust is one of the UK’s fastest growing nature conservation organisations and seeks to appoint an Events & Experiences Officer to join the team at our Potteric Carr nature reserve. This is an exciting opportunity to lead the development of engaging, wildlife-focused events and visitor experiences that inspire support for nature and help us grow the reach and impact of our work.
 
In this rewarding role you will plan, promote and deliver a high-quality, year-round commercial events programme (ranging from regular guided walks to large-scale festivals) that raises awareness of Potteric Carr, drives footfall and generates vital income for the Trust. You’ll monitor and evaluate engagement activities to ensure we consistently deliver impactful, financially sustainable experiences; nurture a team of volunteers to enhance visitor engagement; collaborate with operational teams to craft exciting wildlife-watching opportunities; and build relationships with new and existing partners and suppliers to diversify and strengthen our offer.
 
We’re looking for someone who will bring a wealth of experience in planning and delivering public-facing events, ideally in outdoor or visitor attraction settings. You’ll be a creative communicator with the ability to inspire diverse audiences, build partnerships, and manage resources effectively - including volunteers. You’ll also be a team player and willing to work flexibly to support the delivery of our broader engagement programme. Knowledge of community or environmental engagement, along with a passion for wildlife conservation and delivering exceptional visitor experiences, will ensure success in this role.
