About the role

The post-holder will provide independent advocacy in various settings, including in the community, people’s homes, and hospital settings including mental health wards. You’ll raise awareness of advocacy, including for people from minority ethnic communities. You’ll work as part of a team of independent advocates, reporting to the Advocacy Service Manager. 

You will work as part of the Ealing advocacy team. You may also need to carry out your role in other London boroughs.

Under the Health and Social Care Act 2008, the post holder will be required to visit CQC registered care homes and would be subject to government requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Provide advocacy for eligible people under Mental Health Act 2007, the Health and Social Care Act 2012, Mental Capacity Act 2005 and under the Care Act 2014.
• Provide a one-to-one advocacy service for people and undertake case work, evidencing and uploading case notes and data in a timely manner.
• Provide instructed and non-instructed advocacy, where appropriate.
• Provide information, support or signpost clients in order to inform or empower individuals on any issues about their treatment under the relevant legislation.
• Act as duty advocate for our Single Point of Access referral line on a rota basis.
• Meet case-working standards, monitoring system requirements and the goals for our service, making sure everyone needing advocacy is referred into the service in the right way.
• Work within the location-specific engagement protocols, security, confidentiality and safeguarding policies (in addition to the Advocacy Best Practice Handbook).
• Actively promote self-advocacy throughout all work with patients, where practical.
• Raise awareness of independent advocacy and referring pathways to eligible people and referring agencies.
• Keep your knowledge of legislation and policy up-to-date, including the mental health act, mental capacity act, care act, and local / national policy.
• Keep up to date with developments and good practice in independent advocacy (including different advocacy models).

Social media management

About the role

Solace Women’s Aid is delighted to be the lead partner for this innovative cross-borough project, funded by MOPAC. We are looking for an experienced, dynamic Psychologist to use their knowledge and skills in psychological theory and practice to support non-clinical advocates working with women experiencing VAWG and severe and multiple disadvantage.

About you

You will have experience working as a clinical, counselling or forensic psychologist. Your role will include fostering trauma-informed practice in the project, providing clinical support to non-clinical advocates through conducting ongoing Reflective Practice and clinical supervision.

You will be able to demonstrate knowledge of the intersection between severe and multiple disadvantage and VAWG and a strong understanding of how this can make it difficult for women to engage with support. You will have worked with people experiencing various aspects of severe and multiple disadvantage: homelessness, substance use, mental health issues, insecure immigration status, prostitution, offending history and children taken into Care.

About the Role

As a Housing and Support Assistant, you will play a crucial role in delivering high-quality housing and support services to our residents. You will often be the first point of contact for residents and visitors, responding to a wide range of enquiries and offering clear, holistic, and informed guidance.

This role is wonderfully varied, combining customer service, reception duties, safety responsibilities, and building support. As the first point of contact, you may welcome new residents, respond to complaints, handle reports of anti-social behaviour, and provide a compassionate, attentive ear. Your ability to identify, escalate, and report concerns appropriately will be essential.

For homeless people, or those at risk of homelessness, finding employment and housing opportunities can feel like an uphill battle, even more so if they’re affected by physical, mental health or substance misuse issues. Providence Row works with those affected by homelessness and those vulnerably housed in London, offering an integrated service of crisis support, advice and progression programmes. We ensure that people often excluded from mainstream services gain the support and opportunities they need to create a safe, healthy and sustainable life away from the streets.

Through our Reset Outreach & Referral Service (RORS), we support people in Tower Hamlets affected by drugs and alcohol. Our team takes a harm-reduction approach: meeting people where they are, reducing stigma, and helping them access treatment, health services, and wider community support.

This role is an opportunity to make a real difference—whether you bring experience from substance use services or transferable skills and a passion for supporting people.

The ideal candidate

To be considered for this role, you should be able to:

• Provide outreach and in-reach support to people affected by substance use across Tower Hamlets, including those who may have a history of rough sleeping, be vulnerably housed, or otherwise disconnected from mainstream services.

• Carry out person-centred assessments and work collaboratively with service users to develop support and recovery plans.

• Make timely and appropriate referrals to specialist services (e.g. treatment, health, housing, and social care) to ensure holistic support.

• Develop strong working relationships with partner agencies to coordinate joint support and reduce barriers to engagement.

• Promote harm reduction and recovery-focused approaches, ensuring that people are empowered in their choices.

• Maintain accurate records and contribute to monitoring and evaluation of the Reset service.

We’re looking for a Social Media Administrator to join the WildFish Communications and Marketing team.

WildFish is a charity dedicated to conserving wild fish and their aquatic habitats. This role is perfect for someone who enjoys creating content, feels passionate about the positive impact of social media, and is keen to develop their skills in digital storytelling.

You’ll help to bring campaign messaging to life across our social media platforms, engage audiences, and run the day-to-day management of our accounts. 

Key Responsibilities

● Content creation and planning: Draft and design engaging visual content (images, short videos, graphics) for social media. Maintain the social media content calendar.

● Channel management: Schedule and post content across social platforms (Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn and YouTube).

● Community management: Monitor comments, messages, and mentions; flagging or responding where appropriate. Engage with followers and build community.

● Platform maintenance: Account administration, including bio updates, ensuring profile assets remain timely and relevant, and maintaining brand consistency across platforms.

● Performance tracking: Analysis performance metrics and create reports.

● Trend spotting: Stay current with social media trends and platform updates, keeping an eye on emerging patterns in the environmental space. 

Personal Requirements

Essential

We are looking for an experienced, proactive and creative Community Engagement Coordinator to strengthen and deepen our relationships in Lewisham. Help us to advance community stewardship, raise awareness about the benefits of street trees and increase tree canopy cover equitably. The Coordinator will manage our volunteer programmes, including recruitment, retention and bringing new ideas for engagement. Responsibilities include promoting and supporting our tree planting initiatives, as well as identifying new opportunities for community involvement. The role involves collaborating with team members and stakeholders to help achieve STfL’s mission of creating a greener and healthier urban environment.

£35,000 pro rata

Reporting to Executive Director

Responsibilities:

• Volunteer management including recruiting, developing and retaining volunteers

• Be the ‘go to’ person to provide support for our Area Reps and Street Reps and develop a peer-to-peer network to share best practice across volunteer

• Raise awareness around trees, particularly in areas of low tree canopy cover and where we are currently underrepresented

• Work closely with the tree care team to support volunteering and training opportunities including watering, formative tree care, auditing

• Building networks and developing meaningful relationships with community groups and individuals, working at a hyperlocal, neighbourhood level 

• Spend time listening to groups and gathering feedback to understand their emotional responses and perceptions to trees 

• Work with communities and partner charities to map formal and informal networks within local neighborhoods

• Use creative approaches to evaluation, collecting and analysing impact data including volunteer surveys, 121 conversations and case studies to measure outcomes, particularly related to health and wellbeing 

• Reaching new audiences: building relationships with diverse communities  and work in partnership with community groups to co-design tree planting schemes in public realm

• Community stakeholder engagement - engaging and cultivating relationships including community groups, Parks groups, local charities, tenants and residents’ associations

• Organising in-person community engagement activities and training sessions for local residents including tree walks, citizen science sessions, workshops, networking opportunities and the sharing of resources 

• Integrate equality, diversity and inclusion principles into all aspects of our work 

• Maximising our communications impact: promote our work, raise awareness and increase our reach. Communicate regularly with our guardians and volunteers

• Create content to contribute to our social media, newsletter and website, for example: develop inspiring case studies about our work and beneficiaries. Help gather content at in-person events to support storytelling

Experience:

• Experience in the charity sector in community engagement or development

• Practical experience in successfully planning, coordinating, and delivering community-based events, workshops and activities

• Experience engaging with communities in London

• Experience in recruiting, training, supervising, and motivating groups of volunteers

• Experience in building and maintaining strong, collaborative relationships with diverse stakeholders, such as resident groups, schools, local authorities and charities

• Experience using co-design principles to facilitate workshops with a diverse range of communities

• Knowledge of tree planting/environmental sector is desirable but not essential
