The organisation

ImpactEd Group supports education and purpose-driven organisations to maximise and realise their potential. A growing and skilled team of over 30 people, we help our partners to be consistently impactful and sustainable through a combination of specialist support and use of digital tools.

This project would support our Evaluation Practice. The evaluation team works with over 1,500 schools and organisations, analysing the impact of programmes and interventions to help them do more of what works and less of what doesn’t for young people. As well as tailored consultancy and support for our partners, we support schools and organisations to collect and evaluate educational data through an in-house digital tool (our “School Impact Platform”) – which this project would support.

The opportunity

We are seeking an experienced data engineer to help transform our data infrastructure to better manage our growing dataset of over 14 billion records and create more efficient analytics capabilities. This is a hands-on technical role that will involve both strategic advisory work and practical implementation.

Initially a fixed-term project of around 3-4 months, working to the project outcomes, there may be opportunities for longer-term advisory and technical support following completion if this is of interest.

We are happy for you to work flexibly although would expect the majority of your time to be committed to this project. We expect the work to be conducted predominantly remotely, with a few key meetings in person at our London offices, though you are welcome to use our office space throughout. We anticipate the project being outside of IR35.

What will you do?

Our School Impact Platform brings together existing data from schools (for example, on student demographics and attendance at school) and other forms of data (for example, surveys on student wellbeing and motivation) to help school leaders and educational organisations better understand the impact of their educational choices and programmes.

Part of this involves processing significant data from schools, and we are looking at options for how this could be handled more effectively and be more easily extracted for analysis.

We currently have 14 billion records in a PostgreSQL table, which we believe could be stored more cost effectively and allow for faster data retrieval by using new or alternative data stores. We would also like to develop data pipelines to take data from Postgres to serve analytics use cases, either in new Postgres tables or potentially in a data warehouse or similar.

We would like someone to help identify the best solutions for both areas, assuming our assumptions are correct, and lead the majority of the implementation. You would work closely with our in-house software development team and an existing consultant with experience in data analytics.

Your Role as a Fundraiser for Hope for Southall Street Homeless

You will secure £210,000 p.a. to cover the running costs of HSSH.  This will include the salaries of five staff, grant-funding for emergency/ temporary accommodation for guests who wish to return to their home country (currently covered by a Government grant at 100%) and other running costs (eg insurance) and overheads (eg Third Sector body fees). 

Your responsibilities will include : 

Trusts

• To conduct an initial audit of existing Trust and Foundation donors to maintain and maximise potential income from these donors.
• To carry out prospect research using Fundsonline and other established Trust directories to identify new prospective donors.
• To establish a calendar-based pipeline showing submitted and planned applications, with required updates (including scheduled date, name, projected amount, and next action), to ensure timely and targeted applications and follow-up communications with donors (both existing and prospective).
• To monitor and respond to local and wider appropriate grant opportunities.

Corporates

• To scope local and wider district and borough opportunities for corporate partnerships, starting with warm contacts and existing donor networks.
• To build natural, face-to-face, contact and foster deep relationships with new corporate partners.

Community / Individuals

Who We Are Hope for Southall Street Homeless (HSSH) is a charity founded in 2015 to provide a permanent night shelter in Southall.  The need for this was identified by the Churches in Southall Leadership Team – at the time part of the wider Ealing Churches Winter Night Shelter initiative – due to the high number of rough sleepers in Southall, at the time, over 31% of all Ealing’s rough sleepers.

This role is to facilitate the work of DSN-UK ensuring delivery of key project administration, advocacy work and the smooth running of the office and taking on ad-hoc tasks where necessary. The Programme Officer will report to the Director. This role will occasionally involve some travel, evening or weekend work.  

Responsible for:

Everyday Casteism programme

Assisting the Director to implement the Everyday Casteism programme, including:

• Leading on community-based outreach and data collection and processing
• Development of advocacy strategies
• Supporting network development
• Supporting activities related to Business and Human Rights

Communication, networking & membership

• Liaising with DSN-UK members
• Leading on social media communications for DSN-UK

Administration

• Organising quarterly board meetings and AGM and taking minutes/preparing relevant papers

• Preparing management accounts and arranging payment of invoices
• Managing Gift Aid Submissions
• Managing receipts and petty cash

Person specification:

Required:

• Experience of supporting and managing stakeholder relations
• Experience of delivering projects
• Ability to work on own initiative and sometimes unsupervised
• Experience of working in an office, including the ability to use e-mail and maintain a website
• Ability to work as a member of a very small team
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• Ability to work to deadlines
• Familiarity with social media tools, such as Twitter

We are looking for a Head of Safeguarding to join our team. You will be responsible for the strategic leadership of safeguarding for the organisation. We are recruiting a Community Engagement and Events Officer to assist in the delivery and stewardship of our growing virtual events programme, and support on the development of our bespoke activities such as Starlight Walk and Ribbon Run.

This is an exciting time to join Sands as we are in a period of ambitious growth. This role will make a valuable contribution to Sands’ fundraising strategy and will help to deliver a range of new and existing fundraising activities in our programme. 

In this new role you will be responsible for the management of our online fundraising communities, assist with the promotion, recruitment, and logistics of several of our fundraising activities as well as helping to improve and streamline our stewardship processes.

The post-holder will develop and build positive relationships with our supporters to ensure that they all receive a great supporter experience, and to help to maximise our fundraiser income and supporter engagement.  Additionally, you will help Sands to recruit and deliver our fundraising activities to the highest of standards and ensure that all our fundraisers feel valued through excellent stewardship.

You will have relevant experience of event fundraising, a good understanding of social media’s role within this area and be able to demonstrate experience of digital advertising. A highly effective communicator, you will have excellent written and verbal skills and be confident in responding to supporters needs.
