Support Coordinator

This is an exciting opportunity to work with stroke survivors and their families to support them following stroke. We are looking for an innovative, passionate, and professional individual with excellent interpersonal and organisational skills to join the Stroke Recovery Service based in Fylde Coast.

Position: S11283 Stroke Support Coordinator

Location: Home-based/Fylde Coast. However, extensive travel will be required as part of this role (may include team meetings or other work-related meetings)

Salary: Circa £27,400 per annum

Hours: Full-time, 35 hours per week

Contract: Permanent. Services are contracted, we currently have funding for this contract until 31 March 2026.

The Role

Reporting to the Service Delivery Coach, you will have the ability to support stroke survivors to identify their goals. Using strong assessment skills and a person-centred approach enabling them to maximise their recovery and improve communication.

Key responsibilities will include:

• Supporting new stroke survivors and their carers from hospital discharge into the community.
• Provide personalised information, advice and support.
• Supporting stroke survivors to make informed lifestyle changes which will help them to prevent further strokes.
• Work collaboratively with NHS colleagues and other areas of the community to make a difference in the lives of people affected by stroke.

About You

You will have experience in:

• Experience/background in a caring profession, ideally supporting people with disabilities
• Excellent IT skills and an ability to maintain accurate records.

Continue to grow the active network through researching and motivating dormant and lapsed alumni to reconnect with the Trust.

Research the database with a view to identifying dormant and untapped opportunities, especially regarding

high-net-worth individuals and legacies. Ensure fundraising approaches are well-targeted and informed in order to maximise the chances of success. This will expand to include non-alumni sources, including institutional sources such as foundations and other trusts.

• Ensure long-term donor connection

Communicate with all donors to demonstrate the impact they can make by showcasing the current and long-term outcome of programs. Deliver a diverse selection of communications to engage different audiences, with a clear plan for all members of the network. Ensure donors are connected to the Trust, value the Trust's activities and actively help fund opportunities.

• Reporting to the Trustees

Create an annual donor impact report to the Trustees, and other stakeholders such as alumni, that delineates donor statistics, reviews communications and events that have taken place during the past year and identifies potential prospects and events for developing in the coming year. Also provide a lower-level oral report of fundraising activities and communications to the Trustees at their quarterly meetings.

• Deliver income growth target

Acquire enough new donations to meet agreed annual income growth targets set by the Trustees.

Job Title: Compliance, Risk, Audit and Safety Officer

Location: Central Office based in Islington and hybrid with regular service visits

Salary: £35,700

Shift Pattern: 12 month fixed term contract, 37.5 hours per week Monday to Friday 09:00 - 17:00 with flexibility around these hours as required

About the role

This is an exciting opportunity to join our highly skilled and dedicated Compliance, Risk, and Audit team. The team compromises a Director, Head of Service, and 3 experienced officers, with this role completing the team as the 4th officer. Although the team is small in size, they deliver work of significant depth, strategic importance, and exceptional quality across SIG. They play a vital role in supporting SIG's strategic direction through its commitment to high standards of Governance, Regulatory Compliance, Risk Management, and Continuous Improvement.

As we have an increasing focus on integrated safety and assurance framework, this role contributes to maintaining a safe and transparent working environment, to help protect and empower staff, residents, and participants, whilst fostering a culture of continuous improvement. In this role, you will drive professional and effective compliance, risk, audit and safety standards, policies, and processes which embed systems which can be used to develop a safe and inclusive environment for all. You will deliver support in data protection, health and embed frameworks throughout SIG which are in line with regulatory and legislative change. 

• Review reported AINMs and Safeguarding alerts and work collaboratively with teams to implement effective remedial actions, supporting future mitigation
• Conduct regular service visits and team meetings, focusing on safety reviews, training, and provide practical, informed guidance during these engagements
• Manage data and analyse trends, creating high quality reports, which are clear and readable
• Facilitate and support organisational complaints processes to ensure adherence to policy, timescale, and best practice
• Investigate and lead on whistleblowing concerns and assist the audit and compliance team, champions, Managers, P&C and other relevant teams in acting appropriately on concerns raised and protecting the whistleblower

About you

• Previous experience in complaints and incident handling, safeguarding, data protection, and audits
• Previous experience in governance systems and structures which could include auditing, risk management, investigations, and report writing
• Previous experience in managing quality standards
• Working knowledge of health and safety processes and procedures
• IT Proficiency, ability to learn new software programs, and ability to confidently use and utilise Microsoft programs
• Ability to write reports in a clear, readable format
• Proven ability to juggle multiple tasks and competing priorities within a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines
• Awareness and understanding of the impact of stigma and marginalisation on people who have multiple complex needs
• Working knowledge and experience of up-to-date legislation in health and safety in care and support settings, and ability to continuously monitor

Robertson Bell is exclusively partnering with the British Medical Association (BMA) in their search for a Group VAT Accountant to join their team on a permanent basis. The BMA is the trade union and professional body for doctors in the UK.  They represent, support and negotiate on behalf of all UK doctors and medical students.

Reporting into the Group Financial Controller, the Group VAT Accountant will be responsible for ensuring that the BMA Group (BMA and BMJPG) properly accounts for VAT and meets their statutory return, including overseas equivalents. You will proactively ensure that the finance systems and internal processes across the group are compliant and will manage relationships with external advisors and HMRC, as the organisation’s VAT Subject Matter Expert.

The organisation:

Founded in 1832 as a member-run and led organisation, the BMA champions the rights and interests of the medical profession, negotiates doctors' contracts, and advocates for public health improvements. As of August 2024, the BMA boasted a record-breaking membership of over 195,000.

Beyond national representation, the BMA is expanding its international reach by supporting global health initiatives, such as the Health Information for All (HIFA) campaign, which aims to provide accessible healthcare information worldwide. Through these efforts, the BMA continues to influence healthcare policy both within the UK and globally, and this Group VAT Accountant will be critical to supporting the continued development of their international reach.

The key duties of the role are as follows:

• Responsible for submission of accurate and timely statutory VAT returns (and international equivalents) for the Group.
• Prepare balance sheet reconciliations on a regular basis that supports the VAT return submission.
• Undertake annual reviews of the VAT position, including any exemptions applied during the year.
• Proactively ensure that the finance systems and internal processes across the Group are compliant with the required tax legislation and remain alert to any future changes.
• Proactively manage the relationship with external advisors and HMRC.
• Liaise with Group Auditors, providing support and information for financial audits, preparation of financial statements and other requests.
• Compile and communicate appropriate tax guidance and training wherever needed within the group, liaising with external advisors as necessary.
• Provide non-finance managers with insight, creativity and support whilst new business proposals are developed for proposed new income streams

To be successful as a Group VAT Accountant you'll ideally have:

• Accounting Qualification (CCAB) (essential)
• Significant experience in VAT within a commercial organisation (essential)
• Previous experience of working in a VAT compliance role (essential)
• Knowledge of applying VAT law and how it affects corporations.
• Knowledge and understanding of UK, EU and global VAT compliance issues
• Good relationship building and management skills
• Good written and verbal communication skills
• High attention to detail, accuracy and data analysis skills
