Due to the four-year term ending for a number of our trustees, Active Humber are looking to recruit to the following Board vacancies:

What we’re looking for:

We’re seeking individuals who are enthusiastic about our vision and have the time and skills to contribute to the board. We are particularly looking for expertise in one or more of the following areas;

• Experience of chairing a Board
• Knowledge of Safeguarding and Welfare, in relation to Children and Young People and/or Adults at Risk
• Experience of governance matters, or legal issues
• Experience within environmental sustainability matters
• An understanding of equality and inclusivity

Main Responsibilities

• We are looking for an experienced lawyer to assist the organisation in overlooking projects, ensuring they are compliant with relevant and up to date legislation and regulations.
• The legal assistant will be responsible for making sure all contracts, legislations and documents are treated within correct legal standards. They are to make sure that all activities are being performed in line with contracts and the law.
• The Legal Assistant will work closely with the HR department in overlooking the volunteer forms, legislations and documents. They should also assist the different departments within the organisation(Marketing, Funding, HR, Finance) in upholding the legal requirements needed to run the tasks that they do.
• Provide written reports as and when required. To undertake additional duties as required for the role.

The Professional Development Programme with Quilombo UK runs over a period of 16 weeks, is UNPAID and requires a minimum of 12 hours commitment per week across Monday to Friday.

Upon successful application, our HR team will contact you to arrange an interview. Following a successful interview, we'll initiate the onboarding process by sending you the necessary documents. Once your onboarding and identification documents are received and verified, you'll be invited to a 6-hour HR and System Induction. Subsequently, you'll meet with your Head of Department or Assistant Manager for your First Day.

Disability Snowsport UK’s vision is of mountains and ski slopes free from barriers, where disabled people can learn and take part alongside family, friends and peers.

Our Mission 

To make snowsport accessible for everyone; regardless of disability, injury or experience. We work to remove the barriers to taking part so that disabled children and adults, and their families can enjoy the freedom, independence and the physical and wellbeing benefits of skiing and snowboarding, and related activities.

We do this by:  

• Providing expert adaptive teaching for individuals, families and groups across the UK 

• Providing holidays and activities in the UK and worldwide  

• Providing social and recreational skiing groups 

• Working with governing bodies, training organisations and partners to widen access, increase awareness and share knowledge 

The Role 

The role of the Trustee is to ensure the activities of the charity support its purpose and serve the interests of its beneficiaries. Trustees provide strategic guidance, governance and oversight of management, ensuring the organisation is accountable and acting as a ‘critical friend’ to the CEO. They are there to protect the charities assets both physical and reputational. They make sure resources are managed responsibly and that the charity is run sustainably.  

Currently an active board of 12, we are forward planning for routine board member rotation in 2025. To complement our existing board and support our strategic direction, we are looking for up to four additional trustees to bring knowledge, skills and experience in one or more of the following areas:

Lived Experience 

• This may include personal experience, of either being disabled or supporting someone with a disability e.g. a family member, caring for someone with a disability or working with people with disabilities.

• You will have an understanding of issues and barriers around participation, access and inclusion and their impact on health and wellbeing.  An understanding of the social model of disability is beneficial. 

Strategic Organisational Development / HR  

• Experience across the range of HR activity including recruitment, performance management, reward, organisation culture and change management.

• Experience of organisation design and development including board and senior leadership development and succession planning. 

• Board or committee experience with capability to take on the role of Chair of the Nomination, Remuneration and Governance Committee at a future date.

Legal Experience  

• Professional experience within a legal field. Experience in supporting organisations to ensure adherence to relevant laws, regulations and governing documents. 

• Ability to offer guidance and support compliance with charity law in the UK and other contractual obligations.

The Africa Health Organisation (AHO) will be 25 years old on 14 August 2025. We seek Grants and Bids Writing Volunteers to join us celebrate our Silver Jubilee from across the world to help us apply for funding from major donors, development aid agencies and public sector tenders.

Duties and Responsibilities

 Grant writing

• Developing and writing grant proposals to foundations and other grant-making organisations.
• Assembling and submitting grant requests, including letters, proposals, and budgets.
• Track and create a calendar of grant opportunities - including deadline dates, required materials,
• Researches and identifies potential sources of funders and corporate and governmental funding.
• Complete and submit grant applications to secure funding

 Tender & Bid Writing

• Write and submit tenders to win contracts.
• Maintaining awareness of tenders, acquiring PQQ questionnaires and tender documentation.
• Responding to tender invitations from the UK and other governments, EU tenders, the public sector and local authorities from the UK in areas such as health and social care.
• Recruit partners for the EU grants & tenders and other tender projects.

Funding and Finance

The role will involve seeking and securing funding and finance for the specific goals, objectives, targets, and outcomes. You will work with the AHO President, the Board and senior management to research and identify public, private, philanthropic, individual giving, and legacy funding and finance. Each volunteer will have the opportunity to choose their goal and set a fundraising target to achieve.

Qualifications, Experience and Skills Required

• Degree in any subject area that results in superb language writing skills, including grammar, clarity and style.
• Excellent writing, analytical, and research skills are essential. Candidates must be self-motivated, detail-oriented, and highly organised and have experience using online databases and other sources to locate biographical, financial, and philanthropic information.
• You MUST have at least 3 years of experience writing and delivering successful grants and tenders, especially for public health contracts such as health checks, smoking cessation, etc., from the UK government, NHS, DOHSC, Ministry of Justice, London authorities, and county councils.
• An understanding and passion for issues affecting Africa's political, social and economic development and health, social care, climate change and environmental development.

Languages requirements

Do Me A Favour Buddy is seeking volunteers for an exciting research study exploring how personalised acts of kindness impact wellbeing, happiness, and sense of purpose.

About the Study

We're conducting an 8-week research project to understand how targeted acts of kindness affect both givers and receivers. Our research aims to gather evidence on how personalised kindness activities might improve mental wellbeing, reduce feelings of loneliness, and enhance life satisfaction.

What's Involved

• Complete an initial onboarding survey about your personality traits, preferences, and wellbeing
• Participate in our 8-week programme
• Receive personalised suggestions for simple acts of kindness
• Track your experiences and feelings
• Complete brief weekly check-ins
• Share your feedback through a final survey
• Participate in follow-up assessments at 3, 6, and 12 months to help us understand long-term effects

Time Commitment

• 8 weeks for the main study period
• Approximately 10-15 minutes per day during active participation

What we need from you

• online fundraising. Setting up online appeals and writing impactful cat case studies that maximise donations

• marketing. Spreading the word about our fundraising activities, for example on social media and with the local press  

• completing administration. Processing donations, sorting and recording donated goods, completing Gift Aid paperwork

● championing our work. Getting involved with developing new fundraising ideas and increasing community engagement

● photography. Capturing images of cats in care, cats we are helping, events and all things Cats Protection

As a charity we are able to help thousands of cats each year thanks to the generous donations we receive from members of the public. Our fundraising volunteers use their passion for cats and people to raise the vital funds needed to help more cats and kittens in need. As a fundraising volunteer we want to support you to fundraise in whatever way suits you best, whether that’s organising a fundraising event, fundraising online, promoting fundraising activities on social media, completing administration or supporting the development of new fundraising ideas! About the Project – “Solta o Jogo”
“Solta o Jogo” is a vibrant cultural competition and festival that celebrates Brazilian heritage through Capoeira, music, dance, acrobatics, and a Brazilian arts fair. Hosted at Kingston University Townhouse, this event engages the local community through free performances, classes, and exhibitions.

As part of this project, we are looking for a Data Analyst who can help us measure community impact, inform decision-making, and contribute to continuous improvement across programme delivery. This is a hybrid volunteer role, ideal for someone based near Kingston (travel expenses will be reimbursed). You’ll gain valuable experience working in the non-profit sector and help shape a high-profile cultural programme that has received praise from local councillors, Kingston University, and the Brazilian Consulate in London.

Position Overview:
The Data Analyst plays a key role in supporting Quilombo UK’s community and cultural initiatives by collecting, managing, analysing, and reporting data related to engagement, outreach, and programme impact. This role is crucial to enabling data-driven decision-making across teams and enhancing the visibility of outcomes to stakeholders and funders.

Key Responsibilities:

Data Collection & Management:

• Gather, clean, and manage datasets from sources including attendance logs, feedback surveys, fundraising data, and project reports.

• Ensure data integrity, confidentiality, and organisation across internal records.

Analysis & Insight Generation:

• Identify trends and patterns to evaluate the effectiveness of “Solta o Jogo” programming.

• Support strategy development through analysis of community engagement, volunteer participation, and performance indicators.

Reporting & Visualisation:

• Build user-friendly dashboards and visuals to support internal teams and partner reporting needs.

• Present clear summaries and insights to both technical and non-technical audiences.

Cross-functional Collaboration:

• Work with Programme, PR, and Marketing teams to align data insights with communication strategies and outreach efforts.

• Provide data-driven inputs for programme evaluation and future planning.

Continuous Improvement:

• Support the design of outcome tracking tools, surveys, and templates.

• Suggest enhancements to reporting systems and support data-driven fundraising efforts.

Required Qualifications:

Education:

• Bachelor's degree or working toward a qualification in Data Science, Statistics, Economics, Public Health, Social Research, or related field.

Experience:

• Experience working with spreadsheets and large datasets.

• Demonstrated ability to collect, clean, and interpret data using Excel or Google Sheets.

• (Desirable) Familiarity with tools like Power BI, SPSS, R, or Python.

Skills:

• Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.

• Excellent written and verbal communication.

• Ability to translate complex data into accessible reports.

• A proactive, collaborative, and detail-oriented mindset.
