Key Responsibilities

• Delivering a seamless onboarding experience, handling queries and providing a warm welcome to new volunteers.
• Supporting and training colleagues on volunteering systems and processes.
• Managing our safeguarding and DBS processes for volunteers to keep young people safe.
• Using our Volunteer Management System (Assemble), ensuring communications are logged and accurate reports are available for monitoring and KPIs.
• Creating and maintaining clear documentation, process and guidance documents so colleagues and volunteers have everything they need at their fingertips.
• Recognising volunteer contributions by coordinating our volunteer rewards and recognition activities.
• Writing inspiring news articles and email communications updates on our Volunteering platform.

A few practical things:

• This role is hybrid, involving a mixture of working from home and from our Central London office.
• There will be some limited additional requirements to travel for meetings and occasional expectations to work outside of office hours, such as our annual in person Staff Conference and quarterly evening ‘get togethers’ online with volunteers.
• This role is the equivalent of 3 days per week, however we are flexible to accommodate the regular working hours that work for you, between 9am-5.30pm Monday to Friday.
• Giving our volunteers the best possible experience involves really understanding what they do- so you will be actively encouraged to get stuck in and ‘volunteer’ yourself within our programmes and alongside our volunteers.

Key Responsibilities 

• Contribute to the writing of consistently high-quality funding applications and bid documents which are accurate, substantiated, and contain compelling content.  Ensure these are submitted to deadline and in line with the funders criteria as well as DMWS aims. 

• Write, edit and submit evaluation reports as required by the funder – working with the Grant Manager and operational colleagues for support. 

• Develop, update, and maintain an electronic project bid library resource, including written templates and application responses. 

• Maintain an up to date register of all grant and trust fund providers applied to for projects, submission deadlines, and other relevant information, including timeframes for re-applying. 

• Research and assess potential opportunities to obtain funding from grant making trusts and foundations, organisations, in order to sustain and develop DMWS services against strategic aims. 

• Contribute to the development and updating of DMWS Website 

• Develop and promote content for DMWS Social Media channels and other communication mechanism including print and online. 

• Identify and build strong internal and external relationships. 
   

As and when required, attend at various meetings and events at headquarters or other locations. 

Work with other head office and operational colleagues to share intelligence and contribute to the delivery of DMWS Strategy and organisational sustainability.

Job Purpose: The Senior Programme Development Officer is responsible for identifying and securing funding and managing relationships with Peace Direct’s funders

Reporting to: Programme Development Manager

Location: The position will be based at Peace Direct’s office in London.

The Role

Working within our International Partnerships, Programmes and Research (IPPR) team, the Senior Programme Development Officer will secure income for Peace Direct through research, development and management of relationships with new and existing funders. The post holder will proactively identify new funders, write proposals and reports and steward relationships to secure and maintain the funding necessary for Peace Direct to achieve its organisational goals. This includes programmatic, research, advocacy and strategic funding, working with restricted and unrestricted grants from institutional and trust and foundation funders ranging from £1,000 to £1m+. In collaboration with others, the post holder will also accompany advise and support local partners to diversify their funding.

The role is for someone with an enthusiasm for working with funders, with a strong track record of successfully securing grants from trusts, foundations and/or institutional donors. You will have strong writing skills, exceptional attention to detail and be capable of working effectively and efficiently to tight deadlines. A strong affinity with peacebuilding and an interest in challenging the way the international cooperation and peacebuilding sectors works would be beneficial, as would language skills in French, Spanish and/or Arabic.

This permanent position is based in our small, friendly Central London office, working alongside a highly committed and diverse team.

This role involves developing and implementing fundraising strategies to generate financial support, build relationships with potential donors, organise fundraising events and maintain donor relationships to secure and retain funding for the Lingfield Foundation.

• Keep the Thrive at Five website up to date, writing and uploading regular news posts and blogs from across our programmes and activities 
• Support the senior communications manager to monitor and identify relevant opportunities for Thrive at Five to react to news, participate in online discussions and share insights to strengthen the brand’s authority 
• Work with the senior communications manager to review and update Thrive at Five’s brand guidelines, rolling out across the organisation and ensuring colleagues understand and can confidently apply them 
• Support the communications team with CRM and stakeholder management 
• Supporting wider communications activities as needed, particularly during busy periods

Requirements

Essential

• Minimum of three years’ experience in a related communications role, including copywriting and content creation
• Excellent copywriting and editorial skills, including long-form content
• Experience delivering and reporting on content strategies
• Experience producing high-quality, clear, compelling, and audience-appropriate content for a range of platforms
• Experience working with and editing websites and CMS
• Ability to work as part of a team and build excellent working relationships internally and externally
• Strong organisational and project management skills with an eye for detail
• Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to develop relationships
• High levels of empathy, passion, and care for those in our community.

Desirable

• Experience of using evaluation tools and reporting on performance of communications and campaigns activity against objectives
• Experience and knowledge of the early years sector
