Are you passionate about helping organisations to improve their culture through EDI training and awareness raising?

We’re looking for an enthusiastic and passionate person to join our EDI team. This is a new role that aims to support the co-creation of a sustainable EDI training solution that delivers our ambitious strategic plans for improving our working and volunteering culture. 

The training will also support behavioural change in both of these communities. Through the creation of safe, brave spaces, you’ll be raising the awareness and knowledge of EDI related topics for both our staff and volunteers.

You’ll be pivotal in helping us to design, deliver and evaluate a training offer which meets our EDI training needs. In addition, your expertise will support other training programmes associated with behavioural change. 

As a result, our colleagues and volunteers will grow in confidence by equipping them with the tools to be active allies. You’ll build knowledge and awareness to support our ambitions to create a fully inclusive culture.

To be successful in this role you’ll bring a wealth of industry experience including; expert knowledge of organisational development and EDI best practice along with examples of developing co- created learning solutions.

This activity will involve rolling out training solutions to scale and geographical dispersed individuals so you should have excellent communications and interpersonal skills, and be solutions focused. Project management experience would be advantageous for this role.

The Role

Reporting to the Supporter Acquisition and New Product Development Manager, you will play a pivotal role in shaping and driving innovation within our fundraising initiatives. You will be working with wider teams to help identify new products for our portfolio and to ensure that our products and offers are integrated.

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced operations manager to join our team. We are looking for someone who will help strengthen the foundations of our organisation, as well as help us expand our growing network of partner organisations across the UK. 

As a small charity, the role will require balancing practical tasks with strategic planning and management. Building on what has already been done, you will work directly with the CEO to help build the operational structure of Big Green Heart, and support its day-to-day operations.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• You will develop and implement operational policies, procedures and systems to improve efficiency and effectiveness of the organisation.

• You will also work with the Big Green Heart team to onboard new partner organisations. You will work with them to understand their needs and secure buy-in. 

• You will collaborate with the trustees, who also contribute to tasks linked with Big Green Heart's development. 

• You will manage the budgeting and financial planning processes, working closely with the Treasurer.

• You will be trained as a Big Green Heart facilitator with an expectation that you may be needed to facilitate a workshop during your time at the organisation.

• You will participate in professional and networking events related to Big Green Heart’s field of intervention.

• You will support staff members, trustees and volunteers, providing guidance and training in the operations of the charity as needed.

About the Role

This role supports strategy and implementation of behavioural change best practice in our country programmes with a focus on gender-transformative approaches and reaching key populations and vulnerable groups such as adolescents, people in extreme poverty, people living with disability, and those with low-literacy.

This role will provide focused technical assistance to MSI country programmes, supporting formative analysis, strategy development, coordination, capacity strengthening, mentorship, and implementation of gender-transformative and inclusive programme activities for behaviour change. It will also support donor and fundraising teams within MSI to include appropriate GESI language and best practice approaches into new proposal design.

The GESI Programming Specialist will also work with the Evidence and Impact team to document and share successes and challenges in gender and inclusion programming and support the dissemination of best practice approaches. The learnings and outcomes generated from key projects will be used to strengthen gender equality and social inclusion programming across MSI’s global partnership, significantly contributing to delivery of MSI’s 2030 strategy.

This role reports to the Head of SBC and Inclusion in the Technical Services Department, which supports gender, inclusion, and SBC programming across MSI.

• Significant technical experience at an advisory level in social and behaviour change programming, with a focus on gender equality and inclusion. Must include project design and implementation, and technical assistance in the health sector, preferably in SRHR.
• Significant experience developing and embedding gender-transformative SBC strategies in an international development context.
• Experience at a regional or global level is an advantage, especially in building best practices and motivating teams to adopt tools, new ways of working.
• Demonstrated ability to ensure gender mainstreaming and social inclusion integration in project design, implementation, and M&E.
• Demonstrated capacity strengthening experience, including developing and conducting trainings, mentorship, and coaching of government, local, and community partners.
• Familiarity with formative research and monitoring and evaluation methodologies and approaches and ability to interpret data for decision making and inform programming and strategies. Experience designing, conducting, and using gender equality and social inclusion analysis preferred.
• Familiarity with social and behaviour change communication and social norms theories and approaches and substantial experience with mainstreaming gender and/or disability into SBCC.

Formal education/qualification

• Degree in relevant field (public health, gender studies, disability, and inclusive development etc.) and 5-7 years of relevant technical experience

In October 2022 Salford City Council commissioned Salford CVS to undertake research into the strengths of the Voluntary, Community and Social Enterprise (VCSE) sector as part of their Joint Needs and Strengths Assessment.

Every three years since 2008, Salford CVS leads on State of the VCSE Sector research in Salford and also across Greater Manchester. Working with other local infrastructure organisations, we aim to provide a comprehensive overview of the VCSE sector. Our last research report was published in 2021 and we have started planning for the research to be conducted this year.

In August 2023 we further developed our VCSE sector research and insight work with the commencement of our Salford 99 longitudinal study. This research project is designed to understand the issues affecting the VCSE sector in Salford and aims to track 99 VCSE organisations every six months for a three-year period, so that we gain ‘live’ insight in between our three-yearly State of the VCSE sector large research project. Alongside this work we conduct a Pulse Check survey with a variety of VCSE organisations to get a snapshot of what is changing for them each quarter.

This exciting VCS Research and Insight role involves a combination of VCSE engagement and insight work across Salford.

 Main Purpose and Scope of the Role

 This programme is part of a consortium bid via the NCS Community Grant scheme and will run from September 2023 until the end of March 2025. NCS is a government-funded initiative that brings together schools, community organisations, businesses and individuals to build a stronger and more cohesive society.

This role will work independently to deliver the Grow Your Ambition programme for young people aged 16/17 years across Buckinghamshire and Milton Keynes. The programme will be delivered in partnership with local schools, during term time, and includes three experiences; Grow Your Life Skills, Grow Your Employability and Grow Your Community. This role is a fixed term contract until the end of March 2025.

Each young person engaged in the programme must participate in all three experiences, totalling 48 hours. Key phases of each experience include preparation, session and curriculum planning, liaising with schools and external partners and actual programme delivery.

 Each programme consists of:

Grow your Life Skills

· A two day, one night, residential experience at our outdoor education centre, Caldecotte Xperience in Milton Keynes.

· Two outdoor adventurous activities on site that focus on teambuilding, communication and problem solving.

· Delivery of Life Skills sessions such as a cooking challenge, money skills, First Aid, mental resilience and more

· Total 24 hours

Grow Your Employability

· Two days based in school, delivered in line with the school day

Grow Your Community

· Two days based in school, delivered in line with the school day

· One day delivery of a variety of sessions based on social action and community engagement

The Operations Manager is responsible for Dose of Nature’s day-to-day operational management, providing a welcoming and efficient front face and ensuring organisational effectiveness to support the delivery of Dose of Nature’s strategic objectives. This is an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic team player to join our warm and friendly charity team on a full-time basis for a period of one year, with the possibility of a part-time position thereafter. Dose of Nature is in an exciting phase as we continue to receive greater funding to expand our reach. The nature of the job responsibilities may require occasional flexible hours, including some evening and weekend hours up to 6 times per year, or adjusted beginning and ending times, for example to support with monthly evening training sessions. 

Dose of Nature is a mental health charity whose objective is to improve the mental health and wellbeing of individuals through increased engagement with the natural world. Our work is rooted in a wealth of scientific evidence that demonstrates the physiological and psychological benefits of spending time in nature. We deliver ‘nature prescriptions’ to people referred by their GP with a wide range of mental health issues, including depression, anxiety, trauma, and addiction. Our Dose of Nature Prescription Programme is overseen by psychologists and is a genuine alternative to both medication and more traditional psychological interventions. Through a combination of education, first-hand experience, and practical and motivational support, we aim to encourage a greater connection with nature, and inspire lifestyle changes that will have a significant and lasting impact on mental wellbeing. Dose of Nature is a fun, supportive and lively organisation that encourages creativity and independence, as well as a strong sense of working together as a team. 

The role is 37.5 hours per week and will involve working at Pensford Field, Kew, Monday to Wednesday from 9am-5:30pm and from home Thursday and Friday 9-5:30pm.
