The Individual Giving and Legacies Manager role sits within the charity’s Public Fundraising team, which as well as Individual Giving, Legacies and In-Memory Fundraising, includes Events and Community Fundraising.

The successful candidate will play a vital role in Cure Parkinson’s continued ambitious growth. Joining us at an exciting time for the charity, you would be part of a small but dynamic team with the opportunity to develop and make your own mark.

You will lead the growth of our Individual Giving programme, bringing new donors on board across traditional and digital streams. You will be responsible for the retention and reactivation of supporters, maximising their lifetime value; ensuring the best possible supporter experience and delivering annual net income growth in individual giving.

You will also lead our small legacy programme, which has huge ambition for growth; maximising the opportunities available to encourage new and current supporters to leave a gift in their Will. You will be responsible for any legacy administration, working alongside internal and external parties to ensure that all estates are correctly administered, and that we realise the full value of the legacies left to Cure Parkinson’s.

You will be working with supporters to answer their questions about legacy and in-memory giving, and working with the next of kin to ensure that their loved one's legacy is cherished.

We are looking for a creative thinker that has enthusiasm and motivation to lead these areas of work. You will have strong interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal, as well as being a collaborative team member. We have an opportunity for a Digital Officer to support the day-to-day running of the College website. You will work closely with staff, members and volunteers to produce, manage and improve content for the website. As part of a small and busy team, this role would suit someone who enjoys collaboration and working with a range of stakeholders.    

We are going through an exciting period of digital transformation and this role will work on a variety of digital projects to support this area of work. The role will also provide support on a project to move our website onto a new content management system (CMS.)

This is a new role and sits in the Fundraising and Digital Directorate. Project Management

• Manage our email welcome journey for e-news sign ups, and support on the development of other supporter journeys for a range of audiences across the team.
• Ensure continued communications and strong working relationships with the Direct Marketing Manager and Digital and Comms teams.

Overall purpose

The Senior Communications Manager is responsible for developing, leading and implementing key aspects of our communications and engagement strategy. Your focus will be to maintain our high reputation and build engagement with key audiences – principally target public audiences, corporate partners, funders and supporters, volunteers, clients, and staff. 

Bridging the gap between senior leadership and delivery, you will be a confident and strategic thinker, but remain excited by the challenge of getting stuck in. Strong copywriting is essential for this role. You will be able to write, edit, and tailor content for different audiences, and publish it across various channels, including the website, social media, emails, and marketing materials. 

You will enjoy variety. Your day could involve operational planning, developing a new campaign, briefing freelancers and agencies, finding compelling stories, creating our Impact Report, speaking with journalists, working on internal communications, or drafting social media posts.

The successful candidate will have strong emotional intelligence, relationship building and negotiation skills. They will be collaborative and creative, drive projects forward, work effectively alongside the Senior Digital Marketing Manager, and bring people together across the organisation. They will provide supportive, effective management to the Communications and Campaigns Officer, and be an internal advocate for the impact our Communications and Engagement can have.

About Us  

akt is the UK’s national LGBTQ Youth Homelessness charity. We provide safe homes, mentoring, and support to ensure that no young person needs to choose between a safe home and being who they are. 24% of young people facing homelessness in the UK identify as LGBT (National Scoping of LGBT Youth Homelessness, akt, 2015) and 78% of LGBTQ+ young people cited an absence of family support (The LGBTQ+ Youth Homelessness Report, akt, 2021). The charity was founded in 1989 and operates service centres in London, Manchester, Newcastle, Bristol and works online through a Digital Service to offer support to young people outside of our four office regions. akt works with over 800 vulnerable young people a year providing both face to face and online assistance.

The Team 

This role sits within akt as part of the Digital team and is supervised by the Senior Services Manager.

Job Summary 

Please note there is one job available that can be based at any of our office locations in London, Manchester, Newcastle or Bristol.

• Support, develop and supervise staff, students and volunteers building a strong and dynamic team culture, and ensure the Team understands, recognises, and meets the needs and expectations of akt’s service users.
• To work as part of the Services Management team and wider akt Management team, attend relevant meetings and complete actionable tasks.
• Be accountable for the budget relating to Digital Services.
• Take responsibility for the management of specific projects relating to service delivery. 
• Lead on the continued development of live chat ensuring akt takes advantage of technological advantages that are relevant. 
• Alongside the Senior Services Manager ensure our digital offer meets all the current and potential needs of young people. 
• Manage team to assess the needs of young LGBTQ+ people who are homeless, vulnerably housed, or in a hostile environment, and to carry out signposting and brief intervention.
• Manage and support team to support young people through casework including managing risk, case file reviews, and support around housing pathways and options.
• Maintain and deliver the performance management reports and quarterly data scrutiny for Digital Services and participate in Services Committees to offer feedback on local performance as required.
• Develop tools that monitor the impact of the digital work for those accessing the service.
• Offer support to volunteers around digital engagement including live chat. 
• Alongside Marketing and Communications and other Services Managers, create and maintain digital resources and signposting to allow akt to engage with young people needs and signpost appropriately.
• Alongside Marketing and Communications maintain and develop the online resource hub so it continues to meet the needs of young people accessing online support.

JOB PURPOSE 

UK for UNHCR, the UN Refugee Agency's national charity partner, is looking for an agile, creative, and proactive team player who can join us as a Digital Acquisition and Mobilisation Manager within the digital fundraising team.

Working closely with the Head of Digital Fundraising, you will lead and deliver a multichannel acquisition strategy to mobilise and inspire new and existing donors to take action and donate.  Collaborating with the wider fundraising and communications teams, you will produce creative campaigns and content across a variety of channels – with a focus on digital donor acquisition and lead generation– to help grow our donor base, increase lifetime value and generate vital funds for families forced to flee. You will be a confident communicator and an experienced project manager with an enthusiasm for experimentation and digital fundraising.

Role Responsibilities  

• Lead digital donor acquisition activities and journeys across a variety of channels including paid social, paid search, display, email and telemarketing. 
• Develop and implement a lead generation strategy to grow our supporter base, utilising and testing tools and tactics such as quizzes, petitions and hand-raisers to recruit and convert new leads and engage existing donors.
• Collaborate closely with fundraising and communications colleagues to deliver and optimise integrated, multichannel campaigns and effective, donor-first journeys to mobilise and inspire new and existing supporters to take action and donate. 
• Ensure all activities are aligned with strategic objectives, managing the multi-million-pound income and expenditure budget for digital acquisition and lead generation. 
• Actively test and optimise new products, channels and propositions to maximise fundraising and engagement opportunities, analysing progress and results.
• Manage relationships with agencies and campaign stakeholders to deliver agreed KPIs and fundraising targets, monitoring performance and budgeted spend. 
• Ensure that prospective donors receive an excellent supporter experience, working closely with the fundraising and comms team to develop a seamless journey across channels, including email, paid media and telemarketing. 
• Working with communications colleagues to ensure the website and social media channels are up to date with key messages and reflect content related to lead generation and acquisition activities.
• Produce persuasive, high-quality email, social, display and web copy to motivate the public to act and donate and proofread and collect necessary feedback from relevant stakeholders and signatories in a timely manner.
• Remain flexible and quickly respond to emergency situations, identifying fundraising opportunities and develop relevant communications and journeys as needed, collaborating with colleagues from across the organisation. 
• Use data and insights to produce at minimum monthly reports on performance against KPIs and use analytics to identify trends and optimise activities based on user behaviour. 
• Stay up to date with digital best practices and technology, including sector trends and follow industry policies, including GDPR, PECR regulations, attending training and optimising plans accordingly.
• Stay up to date with issues affecting displaced communities, campaigns from international, content and reports from the field.
• Share creative and insights with UK colleagues, global teams, and HQ.
• Participate in training seminars, workshops, and skill shares where applicable. 
• Work collaboratively with digital engagement and communications colleagues to maximise fundraising and engagement opportunities.
• The role, in the future, may include line management responsibility.
• Complete any other tasks as outlined by the Head of Digital Fundraising.

Personal Attributes and Experience  

Essential Experience 

• Substantial experience in digital marketing and fundraising, with a proven track record of planning and delivering multichannel campaigns, preferably within the charity sector. 
• Experience of working across a broad channel mix (social, web, email, SEO, SEM and other Direct Marketing channels would be advantageous).
• Experience of using digital channels for lead acquisition to grow a supporter base and deliver sustainable income.
• Experience of using data to effectively measure, evaluate and report on fundraising activities and KPIs across multiple channels.
• Experience of working with and managing external agencies and suppliers. 
• Experience managing an annual budget and forecasting income projections.
• Experience using Google Analytics and other analytic tools for tracking and analysis.

Essential Skills/Knowledge 

• Solid understanding of digital fundraising practices and principles.
• Excellent written communication skills: able to produce compelling, persuasive, and concise copy for a range of specific target audiences.
• Attention to detail and proofreading skills and an ability to give clear and constructive feedback on creative and copy.
• Experience working with Salesforce (or similar CRM platform).
• Experience working with Wordpress and iRaiser (or similar CMS/e-commerce platforms).
• Experience working with digital campaigning or advocacy platforms and tools. 
• Proven proficiency with design principles and tools (Canva/Adobe suite). 
• Proven knowledge and use of digital marketing tools, CRM databases, CMS experience, Email Marketing and Automation platforms. 
• Able to demonstrate flexibility and ability to quickly change and adapt plans. 
• Able to act proactively and identify new fundraising opportunities.
• Able to juggle and prioritise multiple tasks, meeting programme deadlines.
• Strong presentation, communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills.
• Excellent stakeholder and relationship management.
• An understanding of GDPR, PECR and other regulatory compliance for fundraising and electronic communication.

Desirable Skills/Experience 

• Experience using telemarketing to convert and cultivate prospective donors.
• Understanding of HTML and other coding languages.
• Experience of, or a passionate interest in, the charity sector and the drive to mobilise supporters to stand with refugees.

The role

Right now, the Partnerships and National Engagement Team is in an incredibly exciting period of growth, as Partnerships Development Manager you will play a pivotal role in building new transformational partnerships which support Crisis new ten-year strategy.

You will have a track record of pitching, securing, managing, and growing six and seven figure partnerships in the third (or equivalent) sector, coupled with excellent relationship management skills with internal and external stakeholders. You are self-motivated and able to work on your own initiative, but you also enjoy collaborating with colleagues.

We are looking for a personable and intuitive candidate with excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to tailor communication style to achieve maximum impact upon relevant situations and audience.
