Palliative care for children aged 0-18 is delivered at Acorns’ hospices in Birmingham, Worcester, and Walsall, as well as in family homes or elsewhere in the community. Their holistic, tailored approach meets each child’s clinical, emotional, cultural, religious, and spiritual needs. Supporting over 750 children and nearly 1,000 families annually, Acorns is a vital lifeline for families across the West Midlands and Gloucestershire during unimaginably difficult times.
This is a brilliant opportunity to take on a high-performing team at a time when Acorns is really moving forward. Supported by strong internal resources, the Head of Public Fundraising will drive growth across Individual Giving, Legacy, In-Memoriam, Digital and Prize-led Giving in the context of a highly collaborative, whole-organisation approach to fundraising.
The immediate focus will be on making the most of existing programmes, strengthening audience insight, and getting the team ready to play a major part in the organisation-wide appeal launching in 2025.
Growing Individual Giving income from £1.6 million to £2 million over the next two years will be a central priority, alongside expanding digital and prize-led fundraising and sharpening supporter journeys across the board.
As Head of Public Fundraising, you will:

Develop and implement a data-driven strategy for all areas of public fundraising to meet growth targets.

Lead the Individual Giving portfolio, ensuring growth across direct mail, face-to-face acquisition, mid-value development, and telemarketing.

Oversee the successful delivery of cash appeals, ensuring they meet both income and ROI targets.

Drive the expansion of digital fundraising and prize-led giving, including managing the growing digital fundraising portfolio and prize-led initiatives.

Our day centre service is currently open three days per-week offering respite, food and somewhere safe to be for anyone facing street homelessness. It provides advocacy and casework services to those who are vulnerably housed or homeless, supporting them to address their individual crisis and the underlying causes. We also provide a small year round night shelter provision.

Legacy and In Memory Manager

This role will oversee the administration of legacies, drive the growth of the charity’s Free Wills programme, steward legacy pledgers, and expand in memory fundraising. The Legacy and In Memory Manager will also ensure supporter journeys, audience insight and effective targeting are at the heart of the charity’s programme, working with the Individual Giving and Development Lead to create impactful marketing campaigns across a variety of channels.
The post holder will raise awareness of the importance and impact of gifts in wills and in memory giving to a wider audience, both internally and externally, ensuring these vital income streams are embraced at all levels of the organisation.

As our new Community Heat and Energy Project Manager, you’ll play a key role in delivering our major new community heat and energy workstrand. You’ll work with expert partners to move forward local renewable energy projects which help power clean heat solutions at three different sites, as well as developing ways to remove barriers to delivering this type of project, such as supplying energy locally and matching supply and demand.
The role will include coordinating and working with key expert partners, including community energy groups and research partners, across the three sites. The design stage of the project is largely complete, but there is still scope for creativity in delivery.
Like all our staff, you will contribute to our anti-oppression work, attend team-wide meetings and training sessions and feed in to the production of organisational strategy. Partnership Experience Manager (Maternity Cover)

About the role
You will play a key role in driving the continuous improvement and growth of our national partnership through deepening the quality and impact of our local collaboration hubs. You will also oversee the day-to-day running of hubs of our schools and trusts, which includes holding responsibility for the operations of the Partnerships Team and working closely with the Partnership Lead to ensure that all hubs, schools and trusts have an excellent experience with Challenge Partners.
You will also oversee the implementation of the organisation’s Account Management strategy, working closely with members of the Leadership Team to implement our strategy for effective partnership experience (our term for account management and customer service) for our partner schools and trusts. This includes holding some key strategic relationships, representing the organisation at external meetings and overseeing partner experience operations.

The Role

· Work closely with the Communications Team to ensure supporter led events receive adequate PR coverage and are planned into the charity’s communications calendar.
