Location: Based in the North East and Yorkshire – ability to travel throughout designated area
Salary: £27,342 per annum (FTE £34,178)

Being a user-led organisation is important to us; more than 11,200 of our members, almost half of our staff and the majority of our trustees live with spinal cord injury.
About the role
Do you share our passion for ensuring everyone affected by spinal cord injury (SCI) can lead a fulfilled life? Have you been personally affected by spinal cord injury? Then this is the job for you.
Each of the Support Network Coordinators have the responsibility for delivering, maintaining, and expanding the support services available to people with SCI and their families in their region of the UK. The post coordinates two vital parallel strands:
- In your region, to reach and support newly injured people, those who have been living with spinal cord injury longer term, their friends and families:
- developing a strong partnership with all available specialist services, charity and business partners; managing a dedicated team of volunteers as well as providing direct support to people with SCI with more complex support needs.
- Nationally, working to facilitate the link between people with SCI and SIA and partner services:
- Referring people with SCI and their families to our clinical/ health expert support teams and advocacy services; working with the Digital Engagement team to build on-line links to regional partners in your area; supporting fundraising, campaigns and communications.
This is the job for you if you’re good at:
- Building strong relationships – you’ll be talking to everyone from people with SCI and their families, to healthcare professionals, solicitors and partners who deliver key services
- Identifying opportunities – to expand SIA’s portfolio of services, we’ll need your knowledge of organisations and individuals that provide services to those affected by spinal cord injury
- Engaging people – whether it’s service users or your team of volunteers, the success of our work relies on you being able to keep people engaged with what we’re doing
- Being organised – managing your own diary, keeping in touch with your contacts, ensuring your volunteers are being utilised effectively, providing support to those in greatest need, referring to internal & external service providers and keeping records of the support SIA is delivering
- Providing life-changing support to those that need it most – you'll be facing up to the most difficult challenges our service users face
- Making the ask – whether it’s growing the fundraising activities that underpin the charity, securing the use of a venue for a support group meeting, or ensuring healthcare professionals are promoting our services

About the role
You’ll empower your clients to take actions for themselves or will advocate on their behalf for better service, support and outcomes, so they can live their life with Parkinson's in the way they choose.
You’ll deliver tailored information and support through a range of channels including telephone, video and email and, where appropriate, home visits and in community settings.
You’ll be responsible for building excellent relationships with healthcare professionals and other relevant agencies, as well as our network of volunteers and groups.
What you'll do:

Provide professional person centred, in depth support to clients by a range of means, ensuring the most efficient and effective use of resources.

Provide support on a variety of health and social care issues, including appropriate emotional, employment and welfare benefits support and advocating with and on behalf of clients.

Work flexibly across the service responding to enquiries through a range of channels.

Work closely with clinicians, specialist nurses and other professional colleagues to raise the profile of the service, increase depth of support and achieve improved outcomes for people with Parkinson’s.
What you'll bring:

Experience of managing and delivering individual case work, including advocating for clients and supporting people to navigate the health and social care system

Experience and understanding of safeguarding and your role in keeping clients safe and implementing organisational policies and procedure

Ability to be calm and use emotional intelligence in challenging casework

Demonstrable digital competence, with experience of effective use of a range of tools including online case management systems

The ability to build effective working relationships with others including working within multi disciplinary teams internally and externally

The successful candidate will be required to:

Bowel Cancer UK is the UK's leading bowel cancer charity. We're determined to save lives and improve the quality of life of everyone affected by bowel cancer. We’re looking for an experienced and proactive online community professional to join our friendly and supportive Peer Support team. This role is part of our peer support services team and will be responsible for supporting our online peer support communities, including our forum and Facebook groups.
The post holder will work directly with the Peer Support Manager and the Senior Online Communities Officer, as well as with colleagues from across the charity to develop our online communities, helping us to reach and support more people affected by bowel cancer and those concerned about symptoms, risk and pre-diagnosis.

People living with Parkinson's need to have their voice heard in Scotland to ensure their health and care needs are met. Following an investment in our services, support and work with the NHS, we are also expanding our campaigning and policy work across Scotland and the rest of the UK.
We’re looking for someone special with experience of campaigning, including an understanding of its basic tools and techniques, experience of interpreting complex policy issues for a public audience, and knowledge of the Scottish political and public policy landscape.
About the role
You’ll support our national and local campaigning work across Scotland to improve the lives of people with Parkinson’s and those closest to them. As part of our dynamic and committed Scotland team, you’ll listen to the needs of our local communities and work with colleagues across the charity to deliver focussed political campaigning work.
You’ll work with our community to raise awareness and increase knowledge about Parkinson’s with decision makers at a local and national level. You’ll use your knowledge of public policy in Scotland and the UK to make sure that the voices of people with Parkinson’s, their partners, family members and friends are heard, and help to drive changes that improve their lives.
What you’ll do:

Be a first point of contact for campaigners in Scotland, who want to improve services in their local area, and recruit and manage a sustainable network of local campaign volunteers specific to Scotland.

Support the work of the Policy and Campaigns Manager to understand and influence UK wide and Scottish specific legislation, policy and practice relating to our communities and their needs

Provide expert advice and support to colleagues and campaigners on how best to influence decision makers in Scotland.

Use our UK-wide campaign priorities to deliver national and local campaign activity, and coordinate campaigns with other charities and organisations, where appropriate to further our goals.

Transition Together is seeking to continue the work of deepening connection and growing the voice of the Transition Movement in England and Wales through the freelance engagement of three Network Weavers. This exciting project will see this team, supported by Transition Together staff, co-design an in person Transition Assembly early next year to guide the future of our Movement in the UK as well as build relationships with Transitioners across Wales and England and connect to emerging and established networks across the UK. These roles will be around two days a week for 10 months and the deadline to apply is 13 May.

You’ll lead and coordinate our local campaigning work across Wales. Your work will help the charity improve the lives of people in local communities affected by Parkinson’s. You’ll listen to the needs of our local communities and work with volunteers and colleagues in the wider Wales team to do focussed campaigning and advocacy work.
Through co-production you’ll ensure that the voices of people with Parkinson’s, their families and carers are heard by decision makers.
What you’ll do:

Support the development and delivery of campaigns activity for Wales and proactively identify opportunities for public-facing campaigns.

Recruit and manage a sustainable community of campaign volunteers.

Use our national campaign priorities to deliver related local campaign activity.

Organise and deliver training events for people with lived experience who wish to engage as well as campaign volunteers.

Create content for public facing elements of campaigns, including supporter actions, web pages, newsletter and social media.

Ability to work independently, coproductively and as a part of a team.
