We are looking for someone to work with a clear strategy and then develop, grow and successfully manage our Youth Advisory (YAG) and Alumni groups, as well as lead the engagement of families / support networks. The ideal candidate is someone who will ensure interns accessing the DFN Project SEARCH model are at the heart of decision making and who will champion their rights and their participation. We are looking for someone who has a strong understanding of advocacy and the rights and entitlements of young adults with special educational needs and disabilities.
We are in our third year of running our YAG and yet to launch our Alumni offer. This role will therefore involve leading the implementation, development, and growth of the membership of both DFN Project SEARCH YAG and Alumni group. This will include planning and facilitating a programme of activities throughout the year for YAG and Alumni members, which we hope will be a mix of in person and online events.
This post holder will also provide ongoing training to YAG, Alumni and parent/carer members and facilitate their participation in our advocacy work. There will also be opportunities to deliver training to our central and partner teams alongside members of these groups

For this role we are looking for a confident and resilient community organiser who can build strong relationships to support communities to create change locally.
What you’ll be doing:
The Communities Coordinator will support community groups to campaign for clean rivers at a local level. By facilitating grass roots action you’ll be galvanising a strong and powerful network of community activists that have the power to create change both locally and nationally. You’ll be responsible for taking River Action’s national campaign strategy to a local level. You’ll work closely with the Campaigns Manager and the wider team to develop a Community Toolkit (including advice for activists, and guidance and services for communications, fundraising, legal support and citizen science projects) to support communities as well as provide strategic support to empower community activists to campaign for clean rivers. You’ll work closely with the Campaigns Manager and wider team to amplify the stories of those taking action at a local level and connect campaign groups to the wider national agenda. You’ll be working collaboratively with the River Action team to devise, develop and deliver our strategy ensuring our programme of community engagement is equitable, diverse and inclusive. You’ll be working closely with other organisations to ensure our community support compliments the work of others and meets the needs of community groups we work with.
Main Duties

Contribute to the development and implementation of River Action’s campaign strategy.

Develop River Action’s Community Toolkit as a package of support for local campaign groups.

Identify community groups within river catchments areas River Action is working and build positive and impactful relationships..

Organise site visits to develop good relationships and in-depth understanding of local issues impacting river health.

Convene and align local stakeholders around river catchment and regional campaigns.

Facilitate local community groups’ campaigns and provide support in line with our toolkit’s support package.

Facilitate the creation of community group citizen science projects, integrated within a national system for gathering and sharing evidence of pollution.

Organise community crowdfunding for citizen science and communications.

Plan and host webinars, training sessions and online and in person events.

Develop good working relationships with regulators including Environment Agency, Natural Resources Wales and Scottish Environment and Protection Agency.

Support the CEO and Campaigns Manager to identify and deliver legal challenges at a local level.

Maintain and develop partnerships and working relationships with other key groups and stakeholders working in similar areas of work to River Action.

Identify opportunities to engage, empower and expand River Action’s network of supporters.

Support the Communications Coordinator to create inspiring and engaging digital media content and news stories, including taking photographs and videos and conducting interviews.

Support the Campaigns Manager and Communication Coordinator in responding to the reactive news agenda.

Contribute to the Monitoring and Evaluation system for demonstrating impact of River Action’s community engagement work, reporting against KPIs.

Contribute to fundraising efforts particularly crowdfunding and drafting of funding proposals to support Campaigns and Fundraising Teams and the charity’s mission.

· Identify gaps in knowledge across the Support Team and identify possible training areas
· Develop information for our website and other resources, for example, writing initial drafts and reviewing information
· Plan and facilitate online and in person events for the brain tumour community, including online meet ups for young adults
· Day to day management of our online peer support
platforms, for example our Facebook groups for Young Adults affected by a brain tumour diagnosis
· Update and maintain accurate contact information on the CRM database, producing data reports as required to evidence the impact and reach of our support services
· Identify, manage and escalate safeguarding concerns in line with The Charity guidelines
· Review day to day tasks across the Support Team

Experience:
· Background experience in a supporter, help line, health care, science or psychology related role
· Experience of communicating complicated subject matter to lay audiences in a variety of ways
· Working in a support capacity, in particular with young people
· Project management experience
· Experience of working with patient and carer organisations
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
· Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to adapt communication styles for difference audiences
· Proven listening and emotional support skills and a strong ability to empathise
· Solutions focused with a positive ‘can do’ attitude
· Knowledge of health, the human brain, cancer or brain tumours
· Ability to prioritise and work under pressure with good time management

We need you, a talented marketing insight specialist to help us develop and deliver our strategy.
Who we’re looking for:
A rare breed of marketer/fundraiser and data analyst, with the unique ability to analyse and interpret data, you’ll be able to tell the insight stories needed to drive and evolve campaigns and develop new products.
You’ll have a natural curiosity to explore and interrogate all the data points available to us (both on and offline), being able to clearly communicate to non-technical colleagues at all levels.
You’ll have experience of working either as part of a marketing team or directly with marketers or fundraisers, and be able to pro-actively provide insights that deliver real change.

Key accountabilities:
Use insight and analysis to inform and guide the Fundraising and CX team:
· Work with the Head of CX to manage all campaign analysis and insight projects and ensure that interpretations of the findings and insights are delivered to the appropriate stakeholders in order to inform and drive future performance and strategies
· Manage the analysis of fundraising campaigns and products, working closely with the relevant fundraising teams to identify key learning and make recommendations for future activity
· Build dashboards and ways of visualising data that fundraisers can use on a daily basis to track, report on and optimise their campaigns
· Work with others across the CX team to report against testing schedules and strategies
· Run segmentations as required for fundraising teams
· Ensure that completed insight is effectively disseminated to internal customers and that they understand and use it
· Work with the Head of CX to guide, plan and implement market research as required
· Work with the management team to ensure reporting, performance and insight is made available across the organisation for all key channels and activities eg website, CX journeys, email etc
· Stay current with legal and regulatory frameworks, including; Data Protection legislation and the Code of Fundraising Practice, to ensure that all campaigns comply with current email best practice in the industry.

Experience:
· Relevant experience of running (design and implementation) both qualitative and quantitative insight projects
· Able to communicate technical issues in a clear positive way at appropriate level
· Working with personas and data segmentations for campaigns
· Manipulating and interpreting large sets of data according to client requirements
· Using insight to aid product development as well as campaign strategy/implementation
· Project management
· Charity experience would be an advantage
· Experience in working with SalesForce and/or SalesForce Marketing Cloud
· Understanding of the structure of databases and their implementation
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
· Sound understanding of direct marketing practices
· Microsoft Excel (Advanced)
· BI visualisation software—eg Microsoft Power BI
· Digital automation and CX software – eg SalesForce Marketing Cloud Interactive Studio, PeopleStage, Pardot etc
· Familiarity with analytical and database tools
· Hands on experience with content management systems
· Advanced use of an ESP – such as Marketing Cloud, DotDigital or similar
· Market research tools – eg Alchemer or SurveyMonkey
· Analytical thinker with the ability to interpret complex information
· Excellent communication skills with a high attention to detail
· Strong project management, prioritising and organisational skills with the ability to work under tight deadlines
