About the role

We are seeking a passionate and strategic Head of Community Fundraising to join our team and play a pivotal role in developing Dementia UK’s Community Fundraising strategy, providing excellent fundraising experiences and delivering high quality supporter journeys which maximise short, medium and long-term income generation for Dementia UK.

Leading the Community Fundraising team, you will play a critical role in ensuring Dementia UK can continue to expand its vital services for families affected by dementia. Role Introduction

Reporting to the Director of Development, the Philanthropy & Engagement Associate will be responsible for the execution and management of a comprehensive regular and annual giving programme, including the coordination and oversight of supporting initiatives in the areas of donor relations, development services and stewardship. 

As a crucial and integral part of the College’s development team, the Philanthropy & Engagement Associate will be an innovative and skilled development professional with demonstrable experience of best practice in regular and annual giving techniques.

Main Duties

• Work with the Director of Development and Executive Director of Communications, Engagement and Development to create and implement a highly ambitious and sustainable regular and annual giving strategy in support of the College’s short, medium, and long-term vision.  
• Be responsible for the day-to-day management of regular and annual giving activities.
• Prepare and manage detailed plans for the execution of appeals including digital, direct mail and/or personal solicitations.
• Work collaboratively with team members to ensure rigorous gift management administrations systems and accurate maintenance of prospect data.
• Manage follow-up action when pledges and gifts are received including ensuring that supporters are appropriately recognised and stewarded.
• Conduct data analysis to understand donor behaviour and prevailing themes and trends and develop data driven annual giving strategies.
• Support fundraising strategy through the implementation of strong support systems, and day-to-day administrative practices. 
• Ensure all fundraising activities undertaken in support of the College are performed to the highest standards and in accordance with best practice as established by professional bodies such as CASE, IDPE and the Institute for Fundraising. 
• Ensure that all activities comply fully with the relevant Data Protection and any other legislation in the UK and overseas.
• Work with external stakeholders, volunteers, and other supporters to maximise their relationships and networks. 
• Produce timely, relevant, and accurate reports on progress and projections on all development activities. 
• Maintain knowledge of best practice in fundraising and related matters, refreshing skills as necessary

• Work with the Operations Director and E-Commerce & Digital Marketing Manager to oversee the customer journey, aiming to increase conversion, retention and renewal 
• Support the E-Commerce Manager to develop and deliver the workplan for all corporate sites 
• Work with leadership team to deliver data-led analysis of our performance, both on commercial performance as well as marketing and business development

Marketing 

• Support and guide the Marketing team, to ensure successful delivery of IKD’s calendar of high-impact marketing and advertising campaigns, including social media
• Oversee the internal and external use of branding guidelines – ensuring consistency in the look and feel of all collateral materials, events and campaigns – protecting IKD’s corporate identity and positioning 
• Monitor the effectiveness of all marketing initiatives and activities, providing ROI and engagement measurements 
• Lead the marketing team in developing ambitious plans to celebrate IKD’s 30th anniversary in 2026

 Skills/experience you will bring: 

• Ability to work at both a strategic and operational level, being able to see the bigger picture while also being comfortable with detail and data, and ‘getting things done’ 
• Demonstrable sales and business development experience, having held a lead role in growing commercial revenue
• Strong commercial acumen, with excellent numeracy, analytical and negotiating skills 
• A passion for social impact - a storyteller, able to sell an inspiring vision 
• Excellent ambassadorial, communication and relationship-building skills
• A very clear customer focus
• E-commerce experience 
• Ideal: (It would be great if you have this, but we are open to candidates who may not)
• E-commerce experience in a charity or e-retailer 
• Strong day-to-day marketing experience in particular planning, executing and measuring the success of campaigns

This is no ordinary Development role

The Godolphin and Latymer School seeks an exceptional Director of Development to lead our philanthropic strategy in collaboration with the Head. Our bursary programme currently supports 80 students; but with the right person in post, we aim to significantly increase this number, diversifying our school community and changing more young lives.

The Director of Development will work closely with the Head to develop and implement a sustainable development strategy, focussing on major gifts. The ideal candidate will elevate the School's engagement strategy through innovative events, strategic communications, and meaningful relationship-building with the school’s community ensuring high standards across all engagement and fundraising activities.

The Director of Development will manage the Development Office, currently a team of three, with responsibility for developing both potential within the team and fundraising programmes and process. 

Collaboration, communication and positive professional relationships are key to this role. The most successful school development programmes are built, not on transactions, but on relationships - with donors, with colleagues, with school leadership, and with the broader School community. The ideal candidate will understand that relationships drive results. Not only will the successful candidate bring major gift fundraising experience, but they will also be adept at cultivating relationships with high-net-worth individuals and have a deep understanding of how to inspire others and get the best from their team.
