Role 1 - Researcher or Senior Researcher (Permanent)

The Fabian Society is hiring a Researcher or Senior Researcher to lead on important, high-impact research projects, engaging directly with the government and stakeholders. You will:

• Develop project ideas and help secure funding from trusts and foundations, unions, charities, businesses and other funders.

Role 2 - Research Assistant (Fixed Term 12 Month Contract)

The Fabian Society is also hiring a Research Assistant on a 12-month development contract to support the new Fabian Housing Centre, as well as wider projects across the research team. 

You will undertake a wide range of activities, and contribute to the development of high-quality research reports, working closely with our Research Manager and Head of the Fabian Housing Centre.

The role will have overall responsibility for the implementation of the strategic aims of the programme and ensure effective governance, budget oversight, and delivery of the system influencing work and WAU campaign. As Programme Director, you will extensively collaborate at leadership level with existing and new partnerships and stakeholders, parliamentarians and systems leaders to drive impactful interventions.

We operate a hybrid-working model and will require the post holder to be in our central London office a minimum of two days each week. Travel costs to our London office are not covered by the charity.

Essential criteria:

• Proven experience in programme management, ideally within the health sector or physical activity, in a fast-paced organisation Strong leadership and strategic planning skills.

The role

About you

We are currently recruiting a Content Writer to join our Content team within the Brand department. The purpose of the role is to write clear, accessible content that meets supports Battersea’s strategic objectives and meets audience needs. They will work to ensure all advice and support-based written content is clear, consistent, and on-brand.

Overall objectives include:

• Take direction from the Content Manager and work closely with teams across Battersea to implement written content plans that support both our strategic goals and the needs of our audiences.
• Create high quality, accessible advice and support-based content that follows brand guidelines and is shaped by audience insight.
• Use data, research and feedback to improve our written content and how we explain complex topics.
• Consult with senior colleagues across the organisation to understand content needs and timing - guiding and shaping requests where necessary.

Job Description

The Jewish Museum London has undergone substantial positive change over the past two years, moving out of our Camden site and moving to a ‘Museum without Walls’ model.  The museum is building a new strategy that will lead its transformation over the next 10 years as it tests out innovative new models for exhibitions, displays, learning and engagement, building towards a new permanent site and dynamic operational model.  Learning and engagement are central to the museum’s future.  This new role will support the learning and engagement team by coordinating bookings, marketing and communications for the team.

Our museum is made up of passionate and expert staff and a collection of over 40,000 objects which are both accredited and designated with Outstanding status by Arts Council England. Our learning programmes hold multiple awards, and our visitor feedback is consistently very high, however, we have much bigger ambitions than our current success. The Museum is looking to expand, in space, in profile and in audience reach. We are looking for someone passionate about our potential to coordinate the day-to-day running of the learning team as we move forward to the next phase of the Jewish Museum London.

Reporting to the Head of Learning the appointed candidate will have the organisational and administrative skills to ensure the team can effectively deliver programmes for schools, families and communities as well as taking a lead on communicating the museum’s activity through social media, newsletters and the website.

Main Duties & Responsibilities

The main role of the Learning and Communications Coordinator will be to administrate the activities of the learning department, in particular our flagship programme of schools workshops both in person and digitally. Excellent communication skills are required as this role will involve being the first point of contact for the department, responding to queries, liaising with teachers, taking bookings and sending out pre- and post- activity information.  You will play a key role in ensuring the smooth running of this busy and creative team by providing, general administration, organisational and hands-on practical support—invoicing, ordering materials and supplies, auditing resources, collating and recording evaluation data and transporting materials and equipment for our outreach, offsite events and workshops.  Digital learning and communications are central to how we engage our audiences so the post holder will need to a good level of social media and technical literacy in order to update learning and events sections on the website, support the delivery of virtual workshops, coordinate the social media working group and create newsletters.

Learning programme bookings and coordination

· To be the first point of contact for all enquiries about learning programme activities and the main contact for liaising with teachers and taking bookings

· Co-ordinate and administrate all bookings for the schools outreach, virtual and broadcast programmes—from taking bookings and booking facilitators through to invoicing and evaluation

· Organise bookings, delivery and return of museum loan boxes

· Audit and prepare the handling collection for workshops

· Close collaboration with the Senior Learning Producer: Schools to assign learning team members and freelancers to workshops including leading on contracting and financial administration of freelance facilitators

· Support with organising and delivery of informal and community learning activities and events including the Curious Minds Dementia Friendly programme and family learning events

· General support and assistance for activities and programmes as required

Team Administration

· Managing the team’s calendar of activity

· Ensure that bookings spreadsheets and databases including Raisers Edge, Artifax, Excel sheets and Monday Boards are kept up to date and accurate

· Collating statistics and data for reporting

· Maintain the carbon calculator tracking for the team

· Order any resources, materials, equipment and travel (such as oyster cards, train tickets and taxis) for the team

· Coordinate room bookings and generating zoom links for workshops, meetings and activities

· Set up regular team meetings as required, circulating minutes/ action points and ensuring follow up actions are taken

· Work with finance to ensure that schools workshops and activities are invoiced and to coordinate payment of freelancers

· Help ensure good communication throughout the team and organisation

· Ad hoc duties e.g. filing, typing reports and letters from manual copy

· Freelancer communication and administration, including organising the Rota

Digital and Communications

· Provide general technical support to the department including setting up zoom links and equipment for broadcasts and virtual classrooms

· Updating the learning sections of the website—events, resources, image libraries and programme information

· Contributing to learning’s presence on social media channels

· Coordinating the production of learning newsletters and marketing materials

The Operations Administrator will work closely with the broader Operations team to provide centralised communication and administrative support, and effective coordination across all aspects of the work of the Operations team.

As this role is central to the work of the Operations team, the person will need to be proactive, organised, and able to juggle multiple tasks and deadlines. As well as being the key link between the Operations team and the Research and Communication teams, they will need to be able to work well with the wider organisation and provide excellent customer service to a variety of stakeholders globally. A key focus of the role will be to ensure data accuracy across a variety of platforms, drafting and coordinating centralised communications with Operators, and support reporting on the activities of the Operations team. The successful candidate will not only have strong administrative skills and experience but will also have strong experience within communications and/or research.

Key responsibilities:

Communications:

• Coordinate central communications for all Operators including production of newsletters, sharing Award Community updates and annual reminders.
• In conjunction with the relevant Senior Manager, plan and deliver the annual communications calendar for each Operator.
• Being the key link between the Operations and Communications teams.

Centralised administration:

• Alongside colleagues, provide administrative services to the Operations team responsible for the management of all Operators.
• Maintain and report on the Annual Operations Calendar.
• Coordinate Operations team meetings.

Data/reporting:

• Ensure data accuracy across various platforms, including but not limited to Salesforce, our website, and the Award Community (our online learning platform).
• Manage the structure and storage of records on the Shared Drive for the Operations Team.
• Produce and share regular reports with the Operations Team and the wider Foundation.

Licensing & quality:

• Fulfil the role of lead reviewer on licence reviews for all Operators.
• Support the Licensing team with coordination of licence reviews for all operators.
• Support the onboarding of new Operators including, but not limited to, issuing licence certificates.
• Support coordination of annual policy review.
• Support coordination of the Operator Annual Reporting process.
• Manage the coordination of the external activity provider processes and ensure the published list is accurate and up to date.

Operations/programme/growth:

• Support Operations Managers to process Award authorisations for IACs.
• Support the administration of Operator events including centralised coordination activities such as setting up virtual meetings, producing event calendars etc.
• Research new prospect Operating Partners.
• Support with the coordination of the three funds grants.
• Support the administration of training events including processing applications, updating dashboards and releasing certificates.

Our partner seeks a driven and astute grants finance officer to support in the financial management and monitoring of projects being implemented in Asia, Africa and Latin America. This is a newly created position, and will suit someone who is meticulous, has strong attention to detail and able to manage relationships with a number of global stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Manage the financial transactions and entries, prepare and process income receipts and maintain accurate digital records and ensure proper filing of all financial documentation on internal systems.
• Review, verify, and process payments to suppliers and sub-grantees, ensuring all supporting documentation is complete and compliant with internal controls.
• Create and close financial grants for codes; monitor and update internal trackers for grant management; track and report balances across active grants and funding streams; and complete grant reconciliations.
• Support in the preparation of donor reports, in the implementation of donor compliance controls, and in the preparation for any donor audits.
• Lead in preparing sub-grantee agreements, and processing of cash requests.
• Support organisational and sub-grantee understanding of and adherence to polices, procedures and compliance requirements.  

Requirements

• PQ accountant with experience of working in an international organisation working across multiple countries. Strong experience of accounts processing, financial accounting and reporting, and of supporting budgeting and financial management.
• Experience and understanding of the compliance and administrative of a complex grants portfolio, including grants from institutions donors.
• Strong interpersonal skills, able to work with colleagues working globally.
• Strong communication skills, both written and oral, and a strong command of the English language.
• Able to prioritise effectively, manage a varied workload and meeting deadlines.

This is a permanent role; the candidate will need to have the right to work in the UK without requiring sponsorship. The organisation offers hybrid working with the candidate expected to be in the London office at least 2 days/week
