Job Purpose

At an exciting time of growth and strategic development, Barnsley CVS is looking for a creative and motivated Communications and Engagement Officer to help tell our story and strengthen connections across the borough.

In this entry-level role, you will support how we communicate, connect and engage with local communities, members, stakeholders and the wider VCSE sector. You’ll help bring our work to life – creating accessible, engaging content and supporting campaigns that showcase the impact of local organisations and the difference they make every day.

Working as part of a small, supportive team, you will contribute to delivering communications that inform, inspire and involve. From digital content creation and social media to events and community engagement, you’ll play a hands-on role in helping people understand, access and take part in opportunities across Barnsley.

You will also help ensure that we are quick and effective at responding to the voices of local people and organisations. Your role will be key to supporting Barnsley CVS’s mission to build a strong, connected and thriving VCSE sector that has a positive impact on communities.

We are looking for a confident and driven marketer who is eager to join a hard-working and ambitious Individual Giving team. Working with different teams across the charity, you'll be planning, managing and delivering direct marketing campaigns across a range of media including digital and print. You'll also work with external agencies on our campaigns. Activities in the acquisition portfolio are diverse; from developing the donor's online user journey to delivering motivational training to fundraisers across the country, your campaigns will drive income and attract new, engaged supporters to the charity.

As well as running the day-to-day campaign activity, the post holder will be responsible for compiling regular reports, across a range of financial and non-financial KPls. Alongside this, they will ensure compliance and adherence to the most recent regulations and codes of practice is top of the agenda.

The successful candidate will have a desire to learn and develop, as well as the confidence to whole-heartedly launch themselves into an energetic team with ambitious goals.

You'll be part of a team that works across a multitude of channels; speaking to range of audiences with one theme in common - compelling people to support our work and bring about life-changing dementia treatments.

Key Responsibilities:

Campaign Management

· Plan, manage and deliver successful campaigns across a range of channels including digital and print.

· Successful management of agencies and suppliers; ensuring relationships are effective and productive.

· Ensure compliance and adherence to regulation and codes of practice is considered in all campaign activities.

· Work closely with Data and Digital teams to ensure effective processes are worked to and full campaign evaluation is possible.

· Donation page monitoring, reporting and development, to include looking at ways in which to improve the donor's online user journey.

· Continuous improvement through test and learn principles across all activities.

· Integration of campaigns across the charity to drive maximum value.

· Development of compelling communications and materials to support all activities

Planning and Budgeting

· KPI tracking, trend analysis and interrogation of results at all levels.

· Live programme optimisation to ensure targets are met.

· Input to annual planning and development of individual giving campaigns.

· Assist Supporter Acquisition Manager with compilation of detailed income and expenditure campaign budgets.

· Work with Supporter Acquisition Manager in developing the Acquisition programme and strategy.

· Input to monthly forecasting and regular reporting across a range of financial and non-financial KPl's.

Finance and Reporting

· Ensure daily campaign tracking and reporting.

· Routine end of campaign reviews and analysis.

· Ongoing reporting on long-term success measures such as attrition and ROI.

· Invoice reconciliation and processing for timely payment.

· Non-financial KPI trend reporting - such as opt-in rates and quality scoring.

Knowledge, skills and experience needed:

· Reporting and ability to understand complex data sets.

· Understanding of compliance and best practice in fundraising and direct marketing.

· Campaign management.

· Briefing and working with external suppliers.

· Direct marketing across a range of media and routes to market.

· Copy writing and proof reading.

Ways of working:

As part of our Agile ways of working you will be required to work approximately 2 days a week from the office, which is subject to the requirements of the role and the business needs. Flexibility on where you work can be split between working from home and our office.

You will be responsible for managing and growing our digital presence across social media and ensuring this translates into action through our website and newsletters. This will include creating content tailored to victim-survivors and their family and friends, financial services professionals, policymakers, funders and other stakeholders.

About the role

This new role is to support the growth of Marine Society apprenticeship and adult skills provision. This is a strategic, outward-facing role requiring a confident astute individual who can engage key stakeholders and employers in the maritime industry to recruit new entrants and existing employees onto Marine Society programmes.

Responsibilities

· To grow the apprenticeship and adult skills provision in line with agreed annual recruitment and financial targets

· To develop and maintain a strong pipeline of prospective employers and learners, proactively identifying new apprenticeship and learning opportunities within the maritime industry. To secure repeat business with apprenticeship employers through cultivating long-term relationships.

· To work with the Director of Maritime Training and Development to devise a sales and marketing strategy to grow the apprenticeship and adult skills provision. To support the tendering process to ASF devolved areas and work with subcontractor partners.

· To collaborate with the Apprenticeship Operations Manager and Maritime Lead Trainer to convert identified leads and share industry intelligence.

· To assist the Digital Marketing Coordinator to write targeted social media posts and marketing campaigns, ensuring market visibility and lead generation. To build a library of promotional literature and good news stories.

· To maintain accurate records of business development leads and pipeline activity within the CRM system and to routinely report on these

· Attend relevant external boards, fora and industry bodies, as directed in order to promote maritime apprenticeships and training including; Maritime Skills Alliance, Workboat Association, MNTB apprenticeship committee and Port Skills and Safety

· To attend industry trade fairs and careers events to represent Marine Society. These include; National Apprenticeship Week, Seawork, International Boat Show

· To research and monitor market trends, employer needs and competitor activity to inform business development strategy

Requirements

• Minimum 2 years’ experience working in a recruitment, sales or commercial role with a proven track record of achieving financial targets
• Knowledge of the maritime sector including roles, ranks and certifications in the near coastal sector
• Excellent customer service skills with the ability to build trust and credibility with clients and stakeholders
• Strong commercial acumen and ability to identify, grow and convert new business opportunities
• Experience using CRM systems to monitor and report on business leads
• Knowledge of CPD training or workforce development

You will join an ambitious Marketing and Communications team focused on raising the Royal Hospital's profile, supporting fundraising, and engaging new audiences. Reporting to the Digital Product Manager, you will play a central role in maintaining the Royal Hospital's digital presence - working closely with colleagues across the organisation to manage platforms in a way that reflects its standards and distinctive character.

What you’ll be doing

You will manage the Royal Hospital Chelsea website and its associated digital platforms, ensuring they remain accurate, accessible, and well maintained.

You will:

• Manage and maintain website content, structure and assets in Drupal
• Act as the first point of contact for website updates and internal requests
• Support digital platforms including ecommerce and ticketing systems
• Support the implementation and ongoing administration of a Digital Asset Management System, ensuring assets are well organised, tagged and used consistently across the organisation
• Monitor website performance using Google Analytics and Tag Manager, supporting campaign tracking, reporting and SEO performance. Experience with Google Ads would be an advantage.
• Coordinate with external suppliers to deliver updates and improvements
• Ensure digital platforms remain compliant with accessibility standards, GDPR and organisational governance requirements

We are looking for someone who:

• Has hands-on experience managing websites in Drupal or a comparable CMS
• Is technically confident, proactively identifies issues and opportunities, and knows when to resolve them independently and when to escalate
• Is organised and methodical, able to manage multiple priorities
• Communicates clearly with both technical and non-technical colleagues
• Takes ownership of day-to-day platform operation, maintaining high standards consistently over time
• Is comfortable working within a structured, heritage-led organisation

It would be desirable if you also have:

• HTML and CSS knowledge
• Experience with ecommerce, ticketing or other transactional platforms
• Prior experience working with a Digital Asset Management System
• Familiarity with Google Ads Manager
• Familiarity with Linux-based or self-hosted web environments, or experience working alongside developers in open-source or managed hosting contexts
• Experience in a charity, public sector or heritage environment

Purpose of the Role

The Director of Income role is responsible for leading our income generation. Our fundraising strategy is to significantly grow and further diversify our income, with a particular focus on corporate and trading income. The postholder will coordinate our fundraising activity, lead our Outreach team and work closely with the CEO to drive forward our income generation so we can safely deliver our ambitious strategy over the next 5 years. 

In particular, the postholder will be responsible for coordinating and developing our income function, converting our strategic fundraising objectives into operational plans, managing the Head of Outreach and representing the organisation externally. However, the role is not solely governance and leadership - we need a do-er who is comfortable working in a small team and sharing responsibilities, including submitting fundraising proposals and taking responsibility for our reporting. They will work closely with the CEO, Director of Programmes, Head of Outreach and Communications and Fundraising Coordinator to ensure we are communicating our value proposition coherently and effectively to the important stakeholders that make our work possible.

We do not see this as a traditional fundraising director role - we are looking for a skilled generalist who can meet us where we are at by working confidently across Trusts and Foundations, statutory grants, corporate partnerships and traded services simultaneously. We are a small charity with 10 staff, so while we are looking for a decision-making and accountable leader, the postholder will be expected to support colleagues across the organisation. They will have a collaborateive spirit and the emotional intelligence to thrive in a small team. 

The postholder will lead the Outreach team (CEO, Head of Outreach, and Fundraising and Communications Coordinator), ensuring we work efficiently and together. They will also model our values, actively promote our commitment to refugee leadership, and bring stability and leadership at a crucial time for our organisation's development. You will take ownership of our UK and US websites and support the delivery of our email communications. The Senior Email Channel Officer is a critical role in planning, creating, delivering and optimising our email campaigns and automated supporter journeys. The role ensures supporters receive timely, relevant and engaging communications that strengthen their relationship with the charity and drive meaningful action. The post holder will have experience in achieving KPI’s such as improved campaign engagement metrics; improved automated journeys to increase retention, reactivation and income; delivering email accuracy and quality; and contributing to the overall Supporter Experience Strategy to build lifetime value through more supporters, staying longer and doing more.

This is a 12-month FTC

Key Responsibilities:

Campaign and Automation Journey Planning & Delivery

· Hands on delivery, including build and test high‑quality email campaigns that support fundraising, supporter engagement and other organisational priorities such as volunteering and campaigning actions.

· Build, test and optimise automated email journeys that welcome, retain, steward and reactivate supporters, building performance knowledge and insight that can be replicated across different supporter products and journeys.

· Support the Email Channel Manager with overseeing the email marketing calendar and sign offs where needed.

· Work with data and CRM teams to improve trigger logic, personalisation and segmentation, using your audience understanding to incorporate targeting and personalisation using customer data and dynamic content logic.

· Advise on the integration of email within multi-channel campaigns (e.g. email, SMS, Whatsapp, direct mail, social and telephone)

Reporting, Performance & Insight

· Monitor performance and continuously refine journeys to improve conversion, engagement and lifetime value.

· Work with Business Intelligence, Insight and Digital Analytics teams to produce regular reports on email performance, offering clear insights and recommendations.

· Use A/B testing, segmentation and behavioural insights to drive continuous improvement.

· Ensure activity aligns with KPIs around engagement, retention, income and supporter satisfaction.

Data, Compliance & Quality Assurance

· Ensure all email activity is fully compliant with GDPR, PECR, consent and internal data governance.

· Working closely with the website team, carry out thorough QA across content, links, rendering and segmentation before deployment.

· Champion accessibility, inclusive language and best‑practice UX within email design.

Collaboration & Stakeholder Management

· Work closely with internal teams needing email support, advising on strategy, best practice and channel suitability.

· Work closely with digital, brand, design, marketing, data and analytics and supporter engagement teams to improve the supporter experience.

· Liaise with platform and technology partners to troubleshoot issues and support continuous improvement.

Platform & Technical Ownership

· Strong use of ESP platforms such as Dotdigital, Salesforce Marketing Cloud, or equivalent to build and optimise emails and journeys.

· Support the development of templates, modules, reusable assets and stronger processes.

· Contribute to platform migrations or upgrades, ensuring smooth transitions and improved capability.

· Identify and implement workflow improvements between the Supporter Experience and Data teams to increase effectiveness and reduce lead times for campaign deployment.

Training & Upskilling

· Champion email channel best practise to uphold high quality assurance and executional standards.

· Support the Email Channel Manager with upskilling and mentoring junior team members in email and channel best practice, automations, segmentation, project planning and supporter journeys.

· Create and maintain documentation of learnings, processes, ways of working and results where required.

Knowledge, skills and experience needed:

· Significant experience delivering email campaigns and automated journeys in a fundraising, marketing or digital environment.

· Hands‑on experience with email marketing platforms and CRM systems.

· Proven track record of improving performance through testing and optimisation.

· Experience working with data teams and segmentation logic.

· Familiarity with behavioural insights or loyalty‑building techniques.
