Education for Health is a charity that aims to improve the lives of people with long term physical and mental health conditions by providing high quality education to health care professionals and others who support them.
We are seeking two new Trustees to join our Board and would welcome Trustees with a digital skill set and experience in marketing and communications as well as the ability to deliver core Trustee responsibilities. We would be keen to recruit someone who is early/mid career. A background or interest in healthcare and/or education would be an advantage.
The Board meet four times a year and this Trustee would also be a member of the Commercial Committee which meets four times per year. Meetings are a mixture of in person and on line. The role is voluntary but we pay travel expenses
Trustees are responsible for the overall governance and strategic direction of Education for Health and for developing the organisation’s aims, objectives and goals, whilst operating within financial, legal and regulatory guidelines.
Core Responsibilities:
To ensure that the charity functions within its legal and regulatory requirements and in line with the organisations’ governance, continually striving for best practice.
To undertake such duties in a professional manner acting with integrity.
To use reasonable care and skill in their work as trustees, using their personal skills and experience as needed to ensure that the charity is well-run and efficient.
To act in the best interest of the charity and its beneficiaries at all times.
To promote and develop the charity for it to grow and maintain its contribution to health and wellbeing.
To maintain sound financial management of the charity’s resources, ensuring expenditure is in line with the organisations’ objects, and investment activities meet accepted standards and policies.
To interview, appoint and monitor the work and activities of the CEO and executive team, according to the Scheme of Delegation.
To ensure the effective and efficient administration of the charity and its resources, including, where appropriate, acting as a counter-signatory on bank payments and any applications for funds.
To maintain absolute confidentiality about all sensitive/confidential information received in the course of trustee’s responsibilities to the charity.
Digital, marketing and communications:
Working with the executive, use professional skills and expertise to support the growth of the charity through the following activities and functions:
Development of a marketing strategy, identifying gaps in the market and opportunities for growth
Creation of a digital marketing strategy and brand strategy
Social media management and content development
Website optimisation and creation of market funnels that lead to purchase of courses
Brand and product development
Communications
Optimising digital solutions and AI to drive operational efficiency
Familiarity with learning technologies and the use of AI in an educational context would be an advantage
The post holder should have an understanding of effective data security practices
Accountability
As the board are responsible and liable for the governance and functioning of the charity, they are accountable in varying degrees to a variety of stakeholders including learners, commissioners, University of Hertfordshire (our awarding body), the Charity Commission, and Companies House.
Requirements:
To attend Board meetings approximately four times per year and to read papers in advance of meetings.
To attend the Commercial Committee four times per year.
To attend the AGM (usually adjacent to a Board meeting).

North Staffs Mind has been delivering mental health services to both adults and young people for almost 50 years. We have recently merged with Mid Cheshire Mind which will enable us to widen our reach across Staffordshire and Cheshire, ensuring we can provide support to even more people in need of our services.

Time commitment
Typically Board meetings are held four times per year, plus additional time for our annual general meeting, sub-committee meetings, events, and occasional ad-hoc tasks. The role may require additional time commitment for reading papers, preparing for meetings, or representing the charity at external events.
Meetings are usually held in-person at an external local venue, with occasional opportunities for remote participation.
Role Purpose
As a Trustee, you will play a critical role in overseeing the strategic direction and governance of North Staffs Mind. Your responsibilities include ensuring the charity meets its objectives in supporting individuals with mental health challenges, maintaining financial stability, and complying with legal and regulatory requirements. Trustees act in the best interest of the charity, making decisions that align with its strategic plan, aims and values.
Key Responsibilities
Governance and strategic oversight:
· Contribute to setting the charity’s strategic direction, ensuring that it remains focused on its mission; we won’t give up until everyone with a mental health problem gets support and respect.
· Monitor the charity’s performance against its objectives, reviewing key performance indicators and assessing the impact of its activities.
· Hold the Chief Executive and senior leadership team to account.
· Ensure robust and effective governance policies and procedures are in place, regularly reviewed, and adhered to.
Financial Stewardship:
· Oversee the financial health of North Staffs Mind, ensuring resources are used effectively and that the charity operates within its means.
· Approve budgets, annual reports, and financial statements, ensuring transparency and accountability in all financial matters.
· Ensure the charity has adequate risk management processes, including the identification and mitigation of financial risks.
Legal and Regulatory Compliance:
· Ensure the charity complies with its governing document (articles of association), charity law, and other relevant legislation and regulations.
· Keep abreast of changes in the legal and regulatory landscape that may affect the charity, ensuring that necessary adjustments are made.
Fundraising and Advocacy:
· Support and participate in fundraising efforts, helping to secure resources necessary for the charity’s operations and growth.
· Act as an ambassador for the charity, promoting its work to external stakeholders, including donors, partners, and the wider community.
Human Resources and Staff Wellbeing:
· Ensure the charity has appropriate policies in place for the recruitment, management, and development of staff and volunteers.

Risk Management:
· Identify and evaluate risks to the charity’s operations and reputation, ensuring appropriate mitigation strategies are in place.

Time Commitment
Appointments are made for a term of three years. Board members may serve a maximum of three terms (i.e. 9 years in total).
Being a Trustee of the Wordsworth Trust is a voluntary position, but we will cover travel and other expenses. For those living further afield we appreciate that Grasmere is in a rural location and will arrange overnight accommodation and transport to and from the nearest railway station.
The Trustees hold four board meetings a year with two taking place at Wordsworth Grasmere and two being held online. The Grasmere meetings usually take place at weekends. It is possible to join in-person meetings online, although we hope that trustees can attend in person at least once a year.
Trustees are also encouraged to contribute to committee work and to fundraising activities. In addition to the above, Trustees will need to give time to study papers in advance of meetings.
Trustees are encouraged to attend Wordsworth Trust events in Grasmere and elsewhere but we recognise that our location may not make this possible on a regular basis.

Experience with digital campaigning, online mobilisation, or movement-building—especially in the fields of gender justice, youth-led activism, or social change—will be an asset. Based at Lighthouse, Poole, it has residencies in Bournemouth, Bristol, Exeter, Portsmouth, Southampton and Yeovil — and is the largest cultural provider in the South West, serving one of the biggest and most diverse regions in the UK.
Whilst the BSO already benefits from a wide range of skills on the Board of Trustees, we are looking to strengthen the team further and provide long-term succession planning in its governance.
Given BSO’s unique remit covering 10,000 square miles of the South and South West of England, the Board is seeking to appoint two Trustees to help build BSO’s presence and connections regionally and nationally. Through this recruitment, BSO are looking for two individuals. The BSO is seeking a trustee with Director of Finance experience who can lead on financial matters on behalf of the Board. Experience as a chief finance officer in the business, charity or education sectors would be preferable. They are also seeking someone who can help the company build resilience for the business in Bristol and across the South West, developing new supportive relationships centered around the fact we are currently Bristol Beacon’s Orchestra in Residence. Swindon and Gloucestershire Mind is looking for compassionate, values-led individuals to join our Board of Trustees. This is a unique opportunity to play a vital role in guiding one of the region’s leading mental health charities at a time of growth and transformation.
As a Trustee, you’ll support strategic decision-making, champion inclusive and community-based mental health services, and help ensure strong governance and financial sustainability. You don’t need prior board experience—we’re looking for people with diverse backgrounds, fresh perspectives, and a shared commitment to improving mental health for all.

Canine Partners trains assistance dogs to transform the lives of adults with physical disabilities and their wider community of family, friends, and colleagues. What is involved in our Trustee role for Canine Partners
The Canine Partners Trustee Board is diversely talented, highly engaged and united in its purpose. It works closely with the Chief Executive and Senior Leadership Team to ensure Canine Partners effectively delivers its mission and is governed to the highest standards.
We are seeking to attract new Trustees who will use their skills, experience and expertise to make a real difference to our well-respected and growing charity. You will possess strategic vision, organisational acumen and a passion to support adults with disabilities and their network.
Trustees of Canine Partners will possess the right balance of skills, commitment, interests and motivations to serve the needs of the charity at the time. This will be determined in line with the strategic needs and the profile of the other members of the Council of Trustees.
We ask for a commitment of attendance at our meetings, five to ten board meetings per year. Our meetings are a combination of online and face-to-face.
We ask you to read associated documentation and contribute to discussions. During our meetings, we debate important decisions robustly, drawing on many different perspectives, and always prioritising the interests of our beneficiaries. Decisions made in these meetings are delivered with collective responsibility, so it is important that Trustees feel empowered to question the Officers and Executive accordingly.
In addition, Trustees may be asked to offer their skills, expertise and insight into specific projects and/or support Executive arms of the Charity in determining and delivering strategic objectives. This offers the opportunity to both broaden and deepen knowledge and understanding of the work of Canine Partners and, more broadly, a complex skills-led organisation.
