Strathclyde would like to appoint an early career fundraiser to the role of Alumni Fund Officer, working within its established and successful Alumni and Development team. This role will deliver fundraising programmes to support the University’s Alumni Fund – a fund which is championed by many thousands of our graduates, and which supports the whole student experience.
You will deliver a range of fundraising projects including an annual student telethon campaign, direct mail, and digital projects (including Giving Day campaigns). Working across the University, you will develop close and supportive relationships with senior staff and talented students alike.
The University’s Alumni Fund helps students to have an outstanding student experience by funding a range of projects including scholarships for students in need; community programmes; international experiences; learning resources and student-led projects. You will raise awareness of the Fund to the student community, and you will manage the funding application process, taking an active role in awarding funding to successful projects.
This is an exciting time to be part of the Alumni & Development team at Strathclyde in the University’s Diamond Jubilee anniversary, celebrating its achievements and its future ambitions for its students, research, and teaching.
You will have a strong interest in fundraising, ideally looking to take the next step in your career as a fundraising professional. We are seeking a Direct Marketing Officer to join this team to manage and deliver a series of high standard direct marketing campaigns across our Regular Giving programme. This individual will be recruiting, retaining and upgrading regular donors to generate income through a variety of direct marketing methods such as direct dialogue, DRTV, digital, and direct mail. They will be encouraging regular monthly gifts or support via one of our main products such as general Regular Giving and Sponsorship, our Lottery, Value Exchange programme and other methods of committed giving as they arise.

About the role
Becoming the Programme Marketing Manager at the Cherie Blair Foundation for Women is a fantastic opportunity to help drive progress for women entrepreneurs in low and middle income countries by engaging more people in our work.
The key purpose of this role is to effectively market our programmes to participants – chiefly our HerVenture business skills microlearning app and our sector-leading Mentoring Women in Business programme.
This will span three main projects:
· to successfully manage a marketing agency to effectively market the HerVenture app to women in South Africa (as part of a fixed-term project with active marketing ongoing until Mar ‘25);
· to successfully manage the same marketing agency to promote the app in Nigeria (as part of a separate fixed-term project with active marketing ongoing until Dec ‘24); and
· to effectively promote the opportunity to become a mentor to a woman entrepreneur through our Mentoring Women in Business programme to paying professionals worldwide. Your objective will be to secure 18+ paid mentors for the Nov ’24 programme intake and 20+ for the May ’25 intake.
Following the completion of the two HerVenture marketing projects, you will also lead other programme marketing initiatives in 2025. These will be determined in late 2024.
Following the May ’25 Mentoring intake you will deliver a strategy, harnessing your learning and analysis to outline an approach for marketing the programme to paying mentors in future.
You will also be called on to support other forms of programme marketing on an ad hoc basis, for example advising on development of corporate pitch decks, or co-designing materials for fundraising events.
This position reports directly to the Head of Communications and Marketing, however this is a highly collaborative role and you will also work closely with the Entrepreneurship programmes team and the Programme Funding team to develop and deliver plans and manage projects.
Our ideal candidate will be a knowledgeable and motivated marketer with experience in ‘selling’ professional development / online volunteering opportunities, and in managing agencies and contractors to deliver on fixed projects as aligned to good marketing practices. You should be highly organised and goals-driven, with a collaborative approach, a growth-oriented mindset, and a strong desire to harness the power of marketing to support women’s economic empowerment.

This role presents an exciting opportunity to contribute to crucial initiatives aimed at securing funds for the replacement of two helicopters and the enhancement of helipad facilities, enabling continued service provision for complex trauma rescue cases across London.
As the Direct Marketing Officer, you will play a pivotal role in supporting the development, management, and optimization of the Lottery and Regular Giving programs through Face to Face fundraising. This position involves close collaboration with face to face fundraisers, external agency contacts, and internal stakeholders, including paramedics, doctors, and various departments within the charity.
Salary: £30,000 to £35,000 (depending on experience)
Location: Hybrid, flexible working, field-based role with travel around London
Contract: Permanent, 35 hours per week, with core working hours of 10:00 - 16:00

Key Responsibilities:
Planning & Organizing: Collaborate with the Direct Marketing Manager to oversee campaign activities across Private Site, Door to Door, and Telemarketing. Contribute to the development of strategic plans and analyze campaign results to ensure ROI.
Fundraiser Training and Engagement: Update and refine Fundraiser Induction Training and conduct engaging training sessions on the charity's services. Implement a monitoring plan for external Face to Face agencies and build strong relationships with operational teams.
Fundraiser and Agency Monitoring: Monitor fundraisers' performance, ensure compliance with internal procedures, and maintain high standards for external suppliers. Facilitate the smooth running of Face to Face campaigns and cultivate relationships with agency partners.
Administration Duties: Manage invoices, stock, and website content related to Face to Face Fundraising. Support the Direct Marketing Coordinator in territory management and engagement schemes.

About the role:
Your role will include fundraising to support the various institutions, working with individuals, trusts and corporations. You will work with curators and Directors in the various institutions and have the opportunity to frame appealing projects to present to prospects.

The Individual Giving & Lottery Manager will play a crucial role in maximising funding for Weston Hospicecare through individual giving, inspiring new donors and maximising opportunities with existing ones. You will lead on all campaigns and appeals and bring the incredible work of Weston Hospicecare to life using your fantastic story telling skills and using research and analysis to drive decision making.
