Job description

About us
Crisis is the national charity for homeless people. We know that homelessness is not inevitable. We know that together we can end it.

Skylight Merseyside is a thriving and supportive environment. We work with individuals to give them the skills to end their homelessness.

About the role
As IT Tutor, you will design and deliver a range of lessons and courses that our members can enjoy and benefit from. Our courses support members with their confidence and wellbeing, living independently and in gaining employment. The focus is on developing IT skills to support members out of homelessness involving and to develop members needs around digital literacy and formal qualifications. Sessions will be a mixture of 1:1 tuition and small group work. This may require a blended approach with some in-person teaching in partner venues and some teaching taking place online. You will also be lead working a small group of members.

The role is 26 hours a week which will be approximately 12 hours of contact/ teaching time and 4 hours for meetings and planning. There will be some flexibility required in the delivery of the courses. In working directly with homeless people, you will need to be able to build warm, supportive and professional relationships with them while assessing, supporting and recording their progress. A commitment to continued professional development is expected as is adherence to relevant safeguarding and health and safety policies and procedures.
This is a fixed term contract until the end of July 2022. The hours are 26 per week (will consider fewer hours). There is some flexibility to the hours across the work week.
 

About you
To be successful in this role you will have:
• A qualification in IT from a recognised UK awarding body or equivalent experience.
• Experience of teaching across a range of levels and needs.
• An ability to work with vulnerable adults in a responsive and sensitive manner.
• A commitment to Crisis’ aims and values.
• A commitment to ongoing professional development.
