Job Summary:

The Care Quality Improvement Lead will further model and develop our Relationship Centred Care (RCC) practice based within the context of individually tailored care in a homely environment, and seeks to provide the highest quality of evidenced based care with the involvement of all Multidisciplinary Team (MDT) members working to support the goals, wishes and independence of each resident.

This role is vital in providing leadership to support the registered managers in both homes, the household Managers/Leads and other Nursing departments, supporting the vision of Nightingale Hammerson (NGH) to become a centre of excellence and a Care Home Education Centre (CHEC).

 To ensure that all Fundamental standards from CQC and other Local Authority bodies are implemented and evidenced in practice.

To support the Director of Care and registered managers in overall strategic, operational, clinical and management responsibilities within the 5 year operational plan for NGH.

To be a source of specialist nursing, palliative and dementia care advice to colleagues and staff across all services. To create a culture of innovation, creativity and learning in delivering therapies services across the organisation.

To lead in evidence based practice in rehabilitation, goal attainment, dementia and end of life care whilst providing/facilitating education, coaching and training to staff in NGH.

To liaise, integrate and co-ordinate internal care services with other professionals in relation to admissions, discharges between services and developing care plans to support residents with their wellbeing.

To support and facilitate research projects in partnership with selected universities and care organisations.

To support the implementation NGH’s organisation’s 5 year strategic goals. This will include the Care Home Education Centre, workforce management & development and succession planning.

To promote NGH values whilst contributing to the vision and mission of the organisation.

To fully participate in the implementation and development of the Quality Assurance Framework for the organisation.

Key competences and responsibilities:

1. Principle Responsibilities

To undertake all the required duties, responsibilities and accountabilities in Regulation 6 of the Health and Social Care Act 2008 (Regulated Activities) Regulations 2010 and ensure that the Essential Standards of Quality and Safety 2010 and Care Act 2014 are embedded, adhered to and enhanced wherever achievable in every aspect of the delivery of NGH care services.

To work in direct partnership with the Director of Care Services and registered managers to ensure both homes are covered by senior clinical leads at all times. This may mean covering the Director of Care or registered managers when absent.

To take overall leadership and responsibility, for the assessment, planning and delivery of safe and effective clinical and social care for all residents and their families on the households.

Lead and manage the team of Household Managers.

Lead and support the knowledge and skills development related to caring for those with signs of emerging and diagnosed with dementia.

Ensure that the NGH Care Quality Improvement Board (CQIB) framework is embedded and understood at appropriate levels and all care practises are delivered within this framework

Champion a robust care/clinical supervision programmes and participate as appropriate as both a supervisor and supervisee.

Ensure, in liaison with the HR team and Education & Development Lead, Household Managers, Senior Lead nurses, that a fit for purpose education & development programme is in place, managed and delivered for all care team members.

Ensure that there are appropriately skilled and supported designated NGH care leads for the following:

Ø Safe medicines management

Ø Safeguarding

Ø Infection Control

Ø Deprivation of Liberty

Ø Nutrition, Hydration & Tissue Viability

Ø Falls Prevention

Ø Gold Standards Framework for Palliative Care

Ø Research and development

 To act at all times as an ambassador for Nightingale Hammerson and its services.​

2. Leadership and Management

a. Effectively lead, and be accountable for the assessment, planning and delivery of safe and effective clinical and social care for all residents and their families.

b. Be accountable through your team for the selection, induction and continuous performance assessment of all care team members, supporting and developing NGH performance procedures. Ensure the NMC Code of Conduct is upheld by all.

c. Take the lead responsibility for ensuring the monitoring of planned performance management is maintained through the supervision process, and where appropriate support or lead the management of poor performance, capability and competence concerns.

d. Take responsibility for the annual proposal of the staffing establishment and skill mix, and the operational escalation and de-escalation staffing policy. Ensure the staffing Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) are met and reported accurately and on time.

e. Ensure that appropriate mechanisms exist for active and effective communication within and across NGH and monitored for effectiveness.

f. Lead by example, proactive liaison with all associated external agencies and stakeholders in relation to the services offered by NGH. Attend external forums as appropriate. Develop and support external forum and professional clinical meeting participation by your senior nursing team.

g. Ensure that the Jewish culture is understood, respected and is observed by all, particularly regarding the Sabbath and other Festivals, food rules and care at the time of a resident’s death.

h. To be responsible for the compilation, review and management of trends analysis of accidents, incidents and complaints.

i. To take the lead role in developing and applying the NGH Quality Assurance Framework, ensuring that the audit cycle is fulfilled and the whole team are encouraged, trained and supported to undertake audit programmes as appropriate. Ensure the evaluation of all audits is effectively and objectively undertaken and change of practise is implemented.

j. Ensure through your senior team that the systematic KPI requirements are measured, reported, analysed and actioned appropriately;

k. To be accountable through your team for the maintenance of a safe and homely environment for all residents, staff and visitors, ensuring all NGH Health and safety policies and procedures are adhered to and compliance monitored. 

l. To take responsibility for delegated care service budget within NGH ensuring month by month accountability, supporting quarterly forecast and supporting annual budget planning.

m. To take a lead role in the on-going development of the care service development: lead the scoping of new initiatives and practise development, drafting business plans as required, implementing pilot projects/monitor/audit and introduce into mainstream service delivery as agreed with Senior Leadership Team, CQIB and the Board of Trustees. Participate in the strategic planning of NGH care service.

n. To deputise for the Director of Care Services or registered managers during any planned or unplanned absence.

o.To ensure via your team that specialist nursing assessment, advice and support is always accessible to colleagues and staff across all services 24 hours a day with regards to residents care and nursing needs.

3. Clinical Accountabilities

a. To ensure that your immediate senior nursing care team (household managers) maintain an appropriate balance between administrative and managerial responsibilities and clinical practise. Ensuring that opportunities are taken by the senior care team to observe, assess and mentor all elements of care practise within the team including care at night.

b. To be accountable for the timely and clinically satisfactory management of all primary assessments for all new residents, and on-going reviews for all residents.

c. To ensure that your senior team are maintaining their responsibility for the supervision and assessment of all resident’s day to day care needs, and the quality of all care plans, ensuring they are up to date, person centred, accurate and implemented appropriately.

d.To be accountable for the safe admission, transfer and discharge planning for residents for planned, emergency and short stay situations; ensuring that the development implementation and monitoring all documentation and procedures to support this is managed by your senior care team.

e. To be accountable for the standards of record keeping and the management of health records in accordance with NGH policy, NMC guidelines, Relationship Centred Care (RCC) principles, and CQC requirements. Ensure the education of all care staff in relation to care record keeping is maintained.

f. To be accountable for the safe custody and administration of all nursing medications in accordance with NGH policy and procedure, RCC principles, NMC code of conduct and CQC regulations.

g. Ensure that the training and practise of all RNs and trained carers in the safe administration and custody of all medications is maintained and monitored regularly and within the care governance framework.

h. To be accountable for ensuring that all care practises adhere without exception to the NGH Safeguarding Adults policy, procedures and guidelines, in line with that of the Local Adult Safeguarding Board.

i. To be responsible for the overview of the contracts provided to nursing by the contracted medical teams. Ensure a positive and proactive operational relationship is maintained with the contracted GPs and ANPs by your senior care teams and the RN’s

j. To work directly with the Head of Activities/Therapies to ensure that effective relationships are maintained with the Therapy, Activities, Volunteers and Care Teams in order to maximise the life opportunities of all residents, and developing of all care staff in the delivery of the activities programme.

k. Be accountable for the development of the multidisciplinary team in promoting effective communication for the continuous delivery of high quality person centred care.

l. To foster through your senior team and leading by example, supportive, open and honest communication with all residents and relatives enabling them to be involved in decision making wherever possible, and adapting communication methods as required. Mentor your team to be competent at first line communication with residents and relatives.

m. Be responsible for ensuring all requirements and regulations, training and support relating to the assessment of mental capacity of residents is adhered to.

4. Education, Learning & Research

a.To ensure the role of Senior Lead Nurses, Education & Development is supported. To ensure that planned and regular reviews with the HR Department are maintained in order to identify areas for practise development and the adherence to mandatory training is monitored and maintained.

b. Ensure through your senior nursing team is compliant with all mandatory education is achieved and appropriate resource planning is fostered to achieve this. Act as education facilitator as appropriate.

c. Ensure that the development of a mentorship programme at NGH is implemented to facilitate student placements. This includes liaison with the universities or third parties, planning placement dates, contracts and evaluation.

d. Lead by example and ensure the practise of giving and receiving clinical supervision, specifically for Assistant Practitioners and RN’s, and regular supervision with all care staff according to NGH policy is achieved.

e. To take responsibility for your own personal and professional development to maintain your registration with NMC and the CQC and to ensure the care service at NGH remains current, of a high quality and adheres to the principles of RCC.

f. To proactively develop a professional and supportive network within and outside NGH, to continue to develop leadership skills and maintain your knowledge through current research and evidence relating to our field of care, and in particular to the developments in caring for people with dementia and palliative care.

5. Professional

a. To always lead by example, behaving in a manner that is professional, positive and meets this senior position, ensuring confidentiality is paramount and professional boundaries always assessed and applied.

b. To always act in accordance with the NMC Code of Professional Conduct with particular reference to ensuring the limitations of competence, conduct and personal accountability are fostered throughout the care service.

c. To be accountable for ensuring the adherence to NGH policies, procedures and guidelines produced by NGH in relation to care practise and more general issues.

d. To ensure that the Director of Care Services for NGH is kept fully informed of any areas of concern in care practise and service across NGH.

e. To ensure at all times the confidentiality of all information, paper, electronic and verbal relating to all residents, their families and the business and employees of NGH is safeguarded.

f. To ensure and lead by example the non-discriminatory practises and behaviour of all and to all residents, their families, employees and visitors to NGH. Discrimination relates to ages, religion, race, sexual orientation and disability.

6. Strategic

a. To take the lead in practice and strategic development projects to ensure our services are delivered to the very best standards. Applying this to the mental health and disability service as well as ensuring good care practice which delivers to current best practice.

b. To lead discussion and negotiations with CQC and other health and social care stakeholder organisations to ensure NGH continues to be both innovative and delivering best practice in all its services.

c.To contribute to the development of departmental and organisational strategy and to the development, review and improvement of policies and procedures to ensure organisational needs are met.

d. To strive to be innovative in developing ways to deliver organisational strategy and objectives. This includes the implementation of the Care Home Education Centre.

e.To work closely with other organisations to maximise health and wellbeing outcomes for service users.

7. General

a. Good IT knowledge and skills in order to be able to lead on the use of the electronic medical records, email and other IT equipment.

b. Act in a professional manner and in accordance with the NMC and Nightingale Hammerson policies.

c. Such other duties, within the competence of the post-holder, which may be required from time to time.

Job Overview
As the Advocacy Manager, you are responsible for crafting our influence strategies on refugee issues, using IRC’s programmatic and research evidence, surgical policy and practice solutions, and trusted brand to inspire collective action. You are the go-to expert for understanding current political and policy trends in the UK and how our policies support or clash with political agendas. You contribute your fresh insights and analysis to inform IRC’s influence approaches, tactics, and messages.  

Major Responsibilities:

•  Advocacy Strategy: Lead and deliver advocacy strategies, collaborating with policy leads, public advocacy and communications colleagues, to advance IRC’s key advocacy objectives. 
•  Influence Analysis: Develop power maps for key policy issues to identify influence priorities and targets. Work with team to support development and execution of creative influence strategies, including with nontraditional partners encouraging IRC to develop innovative approaches to advocacy as usual.  
•  Stakeholder management: Support efforts to build IRC’s credibility, profile and relationships by engaging with political stakeholders and supporting opportunities to raise IRC’s profile at key meetings and events.

Job Requirements:

Work experience: 
•  Demonstrated experience in advocacy strategy development with a focus on creativity, strategy, and critical thinking. 5-7 years of experience working on refugee issues. 

Demonstrated skills and competencies: 
•  Proven success in creating and implementing strategies that influence/impact on legislative and executive policy. 
•  Deep understanding of relevant the UK’s political structures and processes, and familiar with leverage points within these institutions that can be targeted to achieve policy change objectives.
•  Ability to think strategically and creatively, being oriented towards solutions when traditional advocacy means do not suffice.
•  Extensive knowledge of refugee issues in the UK.
•  Demonstrated ability to communicate and collaborate successfully with experts, high level decision-makers, and colleagues in the refugee fields. 
•  Experience in refugee-led advocacy is an asset.
•  Excellent writing skills and the ability to translate sophisticated material and data into coherent narratives that resonate with policymakers. 
•  Strong network of influencers and policy makers in the UK.

We are looking for a professional, energetic team player with a passion for customer service and a track record for delivering ambitious and varied objectives, who can help us achieve our membership plans for 2026 and beyond.

Reporting to the Director of Operations and working closely alongside the rest of the team, the Head of Membership holds an integral position within Cobseo, centred around the day-to-day delivery of the membership function. The post-holder is responsible for pro-actively identifying and securing new members, processing membership applications, managing credit control that relates to membership fees, and acting as the primary point of contact for prospective/members and relevant stakeholders.

The Head of Membership will also drive the development of Cobseo’s membership offer, policies and processes via the design and delivery of a new, research-led, evidence-based Membership Strategy, which will include refining the membership criteria and enhancing membership benefits to elevate the value of Cobseo Membership.

The Head of Membership provides leadership to the Cobseo office team and Executive Committee on all membership matters. They leverage their knowledge of the sector and expertise in customer-centric delivery, in order to provide guidance on Membership decisions during Executive Committee meetings, of which the membership applications are a standing agenda item.

The Head of Membership will be the primary liaison for the new CRM/website project, working closely with the Director of Operations and the Head of Communication & Engagement to ensure that the new system is commissioned, launched, and integrated successfully. They will work with external suppliers including routinely with the external bookkeeper, and on a project basis with the CRM provider and CRM implementation partner to ensure value-for-money procurement and effective project delivery.

As a member of the small Cobseo office team, the Head of Membership, along with the other members of the office team, is expected to lean into issues, opportunities, and workstreams that arise, sometimes at short notice and occasionally outside of their own portfolio.

This role is full time (34.5 hours per week) and is office-based in London for at least 2 days per week in order to facilitate positive relationships with the rest of the team and with stakeholders. There is an option for hybrid/homeworking the rest of the week. Some UK travel is required and the post-holder will occasionally be required to work from external sites, such as events’ venues or in order to visit members’ premises. Normal working hours are maintained wherever possible noting that business activity of a membership organisation, including for some events, is held outwith normal office hours.

 The Head of Membership role doesn’t currently have line management responsibility. As the size and shape of the Cobseo office team develops over time, this may change.

We are looking for an outstanding individual to join our Development and Alumni Relations team to help guide and deliver ourregular giving and stewardship programmes. The ideal candidate will have experience of running successful major fundraising appeals to large audiences. They will have the ability to draft persuasive and accurate copy to support both fundraising and stewardship literature. They will be highly motivated and creative, driving new initiatives to boost participation, increase overall giving, while also increasing retention of donors through an outstanding, tailored stewardship programme. They will be a team-player who can work autonomously when required, but can work collaboratively, and will support other team members with aspects of their work.

The Development and Alumni Relations Office leads the process of generating long-term and consistent voluntary income for Merchant Taylors’ School, and forrunning a comprehensive alumni and parental relations programme.

The Development Manager (Fundraising and Stewardship) will be responsible for planning, managing and having an input to the strategy for a regular giving programme at Merchant Taylors’ School, with a focus on increasing the participation (giving rates) of both our alumni and parental constituencies, as well as donor retention through planning and executing a stewardship programme for benefactors of all levels. Some face-to-face fundraising may also be required, particularly relating to legacy fundraising and the post-holder will build a portfolio of mid-level donors they will manage.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Media & Events Officer to join a Global Sustainability Charity. The Media & Events Officer supports the delivery of the Charity’s communications and public affairs agenda. This role is focused on the practical coordination of media content and logistics for in-person and online events and will be working closely with the Director of Programmes.

Job Overview

As the UK Policy Manager for refugee, asylum and integration issues, you will sit in the UK advocacy team and join the Global Policy and Solutions department. You will be responsible for analysing policy developments in the UK and developing solutions that are high impact. You are a critical thinker with experience of policy development on refugee issues in the UK. You will seek to make the most of IRC’s knowledge across departments and look for new and creative partnerships in the UK. You are clear communicator and can distil the complexity of policy for a range of audiences. 

Major Responsibilities:

•  Solutions Strategy: Support UK strategy development on refugee protection and integration, working closely with the UK Advocacy team and other internal collaborators, and support relationships with external policymakers and key opinion formers.

•  Analysis and Solution generation: Work with internal and external partners (esp. programmatic teams) to understand the biggest challenges facing IRC's clients in the UK and support the team in the creation of a suite of technical and policy and practice solutions.
•  Thought Leadership: Be IRC's authoritative voice on solutions for the most pressing issues facing our clients. Lift other policy voices as appropriate, especially those of our clients and local organisations.
•  Collaboration and Convenings: Build and maintain a network of relevant NGOs, think tanks, academics, international organisations, policymakers, and other experts to support the IRC’s policy and solutions development, with an expertise in refugee resettlement, asylum, and integration and inclusion policies. Set the agenda and identify appropriate participants for policy discussions to better understand challenges, policy options and channels for policy amplification. 
•  Research: Regularly monitor, analyse, and report on developments on UK refugee protection and integration developments. Work closely with the UK Advocacy team to track and analyse policies and legislation, with a focus on refugee resettlement and other pathways to safety, access to asylum, and integration. 
•  Focused Advocacy and Advocacy Analysis: Support the UK Advocacy team representing the IRC at external meetings and/or supplying briefs for policy targets. Where relevant, help identify advocacy targets (esp. political appointees, civil servants). Work with Advocacy colleagues to develop and strengthen effective and targeted advocacy plans, strategies and tactics that are as effective as possible, including supporting policy analysis for specific markets.
•  Content and message development: Develop analytical and policy content (reports, briefs, etc.) that can be used across IRC for influence, funding, and profile-building opportunities. Support the maintenance of Advocacy Master Docs and Communication Master Docs on refugee protection and integration in the UK. 
•  Policy Communications: Provide subject matter expertise to communications team to shape communications including op-eds and press releases. This may include acting as lead writer or reviewing existing materials from other departments to provide policy expertise and analysis.
•  Spokesperson: Serve as IRC spokesperson with media and at other external engagements as needed, including relevant conferences and policy events. Represent the IRC at senior and technical meetings with policy stakeholders or advocacy targets, in close coordination with the UK Advocacy team.
•  Teamwork: Support a positive team culture by acting openly and collaboratively, supporting colleagues in their work and sharing credit with others where appropriate. 
•  Steward Gender Equality, Diversity and Inclusion: both in the culture of IRC, as well as through a client-led approach to our policy solutions and influencing work.

Job Requirements:

Work experience:
5-7 years of experience working on refugee protection and integration in the UK. Demonstrated experience in policy analysis and policy strategy and development

ROLE OVERVIEW

You will be an exceptional Policy and Public Affairs Manager who will lead your team to achieve the goals detailed in the RLSS UK Strategic Framework 2025-2030. This is a unique opportunity to work on the front line of policy change, collaborating with ministers, government officials and key partners.

This is a strategic, hands-on role suited to someone with a deep commitment to our water safety and drowning prevention priorities together with significant experience of achieving outcomes and impact.

KEY TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Develop, implement and deliver the RLSS Policy and Public Affairs Strategy
• Influence UK and Ireland ministers and government officials by engaging them directly to raise awareness of RLSS UK’s vision, mission and purpose and seeking their support in achieving our goals
• Work collaboratively to influence specific legislation, including campaigning around bills, writing amendments, and working with MPs and Peers to promote them within the legislative process.
• Lead the management of the APPG
• Manage stakeholder engagement strategies and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders and partners.
• Stakeholder engagement (Parliament): Build and maintain relationships with key policy makers and parliamentarians through face-to-face meetings, providing briefings to MPs and Lords for Parliamentary debates, preparing written/oral questions, and attending Select Committees, APPGs, Parliamentary receptions and other relevant roundtables and events.

This is a senior leadership role at The Charity, as part of the Extended Leadership Team, and reporting into the Director of People and Culture. You’ll work particularly closely with senior managers to attract, retain and develop a diverse and talented workforce. You will be responsible for day-to-day leadership of people operations, volunteer development, internal communications and learning. You will promote a culture of continuous learning, innovation, and collaboration across The Charity, whilst ensuring that we adhere to relevant employment legislation and good practice.

The role will be responsible for leading a small, capable team of HR, Volunteering, and Learning and Engagement colleagues in support of our strategic priorities. We’re a small team, requiring you to flex between strategic activity and hands-on operational management.

You’ll be an experienced Human Resources professional with the expertise and knowledge to develop and drive forward our people priorities, supporting team members and volunteers to thrive at work. And as a member of the CIPD, ideally Chartered, you will understand the importance of working in true partnership to advise and support your leadership peers.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

Leading People Operations: embedding excellent policies and processes, and advisory support

· Provide leadership of the the day-to-day People and Culture team at the Charity, including direct management of the People and Culture Manager, Volunteer Development Manager, and Learning and Engagement Manager.

· Develop strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including engaging Champions Groups e.g. EDI Champions, to make The Charity a great place to work

· Provide senior leadership advisory support to Heads of Teams peers and the Senior Leadership Team to ensure we have the right skills and culture to enable our strategic priorities

· Provide advice, guidance and support to leaders and manager on employment law, people policies and practices, and manage complex employee relations matters as required

· Oversee the management of people operations suppliers, including with payroll and pensions, and setting and tracking the People and Culture budget in support of our people priorities

· Work with the People and Culture Manager to develop and deliver innovative recruitment plans that attract talented and diverse candidates, and inclusive selection and onboarding processes

· Work with the support of the People and Culture Manager to collect and report meaningful people data to inform decision-making, supporting retention and engagement.

· Work with the People and Culture Manager to evaluate, develop and manage wellbeing programmes that support the physical, mental, and emotional health of The Charity team

· Work with the Learning and Engagement Manager to develop a career framework that rewards and recognises strong performance and provides meaningful career development opportunities

· Work with the Learning and Engagement Manager to embed a culture of listening at The Charity, where people’s ideas and concerns are sought, listened to, and responded to. This includes overseeing strong internal communication.

Leading and delivering people and culture projects

· Support the Director of People and Culture to lead and deliver projects and initiatives in support of The Charity’s EDI plan, promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion within The Charity, and working to ensure that our team reflects the diverse communities that we serve.

· Lead change management projects, whether that’s supporting organisational growth, redesign to support capacity and capability for the future, or responding to external challenges

Job Description

You’ll join Marie Curie’s Policy & Public Affairs Scotland team, part of the award-winning Policy & Research Directorate. We are a collaborative, passionate, and evidence-led team working across the UK to secure better end-of-life experiences for everyone. In Scotland, we focus on addressing inequalities in access to care and ensuring that people affected by terminal illness have their voices heard by decision makers. 

As Policy and Public Affairs Manager, you will build and maintain relationships with MSPs, ministers, officials, and sector leaders to influence health and social care policy in Scotland. By bringing together evidence, lived experience, and political insight, you will help shape reforms that improve services and support for people at the end of life and their families. 

Your impact:

• Influence Scottish Parliament and Government policy, responding to legislation, consultations, and committee inquiries. 

• Build relationships with ministers, MSPs, officials, and key stakeholders to ensure Marie Curie’s policy messages are heard. 

• Deliver impactful campaigns, events, and external engagement to raise awareness of end-of-life issues. 

• Write high-quality briefings, consultation responses, reports, and content for a range of audiences. 

• Support party conference activity and high-profile events to grow Marie Curie’s influence. 

• Work with research colleagues to analyse and translate evidence into practical policy recommendations. 

Key Criteria: 

• Significant experience in policy and public affairs with proven success influencing change. 

• Strong knowledge of the Scottish Parliament, Government structures, and health/social care policy context (or ability to develop this quickly). 

• Excellent written and oral communication skills, including experience drafting consultation responses, briefings, and media content. 

• Political astuteness, with the ability to navigate complex environments and build trust at senior levels. 

• Strong organisational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities under pressure. 

• Experience building partnerships with external organisations and working collaboratively within a large organisation.

Salary: £36,900-41,000 depending on experience 

Contract:  Fixed-term (12 months), full-time (35 hours per week). We are open to considering a part-time contract. 

Based:  Home-based with occasional travel across Scotland and visits to our Links Place office in Edinburgh.
