The Churchill Fellowship:

The Churchill Fellowship is a unique programme that empowers UK citizens to discover new solutions from around the world to tackle some of the most pressing challenges facing communities in the UK. Each year, we fund over 100 Fellows to explore innovative ideas, best practices, and cutting-edge projects anywhere in the world that relate to the issues they care about most.

Purpose of the role:

The Head of Fellowship is responsible for the delivery of the Churchill Fellowship’s annual Fellowship Programme, overseeing all stages from pre-application support, through selection and award, to Fellows’ global learning. The role ensures processes are inclusive, transparent, and of the highest quality, embedding equity, diversity, inclusion, and safeguarding at every stage.

Working closely with the Fellowship Director and senior leadership, the postholder supports applicants and Fellows with guidance and feedback, strengthens the Fellowship model, ensures it runs smoothly and effectively.

Key Responsibilities

Delivery of Fellowship Programme:

• Lead on and manage the full Fellowship selection process, from pre-application to final award, ensuring alignment with TCF’s EDI values and strategic priorities.
• Continuously review and improve application and selection process, documentation, and candidate guidance.
• Provide clear, constructive feedback to applicants at all stages of the selection process.

Overseas Learning:

• Oversee the support provided to Fellows during their overseas learning, working closely with the Fellowship Manager to ensure guidance and resources meet individual needs.
• Authorise Fellowship grant payments for overseas learning, ensuring compliance with Fellowship model guidelines and organisational policies.

Collaboration and Engagement

• Contribute to the design of new Fellowship programmes, led by the Engagement team, and lead on operationalising these programmes during the application cycle.
• Continue to develop your own knowledge to ensure applicants and Fellows receive high-quality support and guidance throughout the process.
• Work closely with internal teams to ensure seamless delivery of the Fellowship programme.
• Represent TCF at Fellow-led and other relevant sector events as appropriate.

Safeguarding, EDI, and Fellowship Model

• Act as a member of the Designated Safeguarding Team, ensuring compliance and best practice.
• Lead on embedding EDI principles throughout the Fellowship model, working with the Chief Executive, Head of Activate and People and Culture Manager to ensure that accessibility, fairness and inclusivity are built into every stage of the process.
• Work with the Fellowship Director to continually enhance the candidate and panellist experience.
• Partner with the Salesforce team to ensure systems and processes support the successful programme delivery.
• Stay informed of sector trends, research, and innovative and equitable approaches to supporting individuals to learn and grow, applying learning to TCF’s work.
• Work with the Fellowship Manager and team to ensure risk assessments, insurance and safety plans for Fellows’ travel and events are proportionate, meet best practice and are compliant.
• Maintain awareness of global and societal trends that may impact Fellows’ safety and/or the design of the Fellowship model.

Leadership and Team Management

• Line manage the Fellowship Manager and Fellowship Officer, supporting their development and performance in delivering team and organisational objectives.
• Work closely with the Fellowship Director and Head of Activate to foster an inclusive, collaborative, and supportive team culture, encouraging innovation, reflective practice and shared learning.

General

• Ensure all Fellowship programme activity complies with organisational policies, safeguarding requirements, GDPR, and data protection standards.
• Contribute to organisational initiatives and cross-team projects, supporting the wider strategic goals of The Churchill Fellowship.
• This role may occasionally require working outside standard hours, to support Fellowship interviews, events, or external engagements.
• Undertake other reasonable duties as required to support the effective running of the Fellowship programme and the organisation.

• Proven leadership and line management experience, ideally in a fellowship scholarship, or education programme.

We have embraced the benefits of working from home and at the same time, we value the contribution of face-to-face contact in building teamwork, collaborating with your colleagues, exchanging ideas and know-how, and for work efficiency. We therefore operate a hybrid working policy, where staff can work from home if they wish, however everyone is required to work in the office for a minimum of 4 to 6 days a month with Tuesdays as the core day for regular whole team meetings and Thursday as an additional core day for Senior Leaders.

Key responsibilities:

• Support the securing of income opportunities by providing financial information for bids, grants, and applications.

• Work with project leads and the senior team to ensure the effective management of funds, including tracking and reporting expenditures. 

• Develop and deliver financial performance information to assist the senior team and trustees in running the charity, providing valuable financial insights to help make better decisions about formulating and executing the charity's strategy.

• Assist the CEO and Senior Leads in the business planning and budgeting/forecasting processes.

• Support the Director of Services, to manage and review contract rates to ensure competitiveness and maximize income generation.

• Manage the year-end independent examination by liaising and engaging with the external auditor.

• Work with the Senior Team and Finance Sub Committee to provide adequate procedures, measures, and systems of internal control appropriate for the nature and size of the charity and meeting statutory obligations.

• Produce accurate monthly/quarterly Management Accounts for the CEO and Senior Management Team, including commentary on significant areas and variances from budgets and Update monthly the cash flow forecast. 

• Manage the complete payroll process through QuickBooks and submit relevant deductions. 

• Complete monthly payments to HMRC, and year-end submissions in a timely, proactive and accurate manner and deadlines are met. 

• Manage accounts receivable and payable, ensuring authorised bills and invoices are recorded and processed on time.

• Enhance income streams, such as registering for Gift Aid and VAT etc. 

• Ensure adherence to legal and regulatory requirements, identify and manage financial risks. 

• Undertaking administrative tasks as required, being hands-on and fostering a collaborative working environment. 

• Proactively monitor and evaluate activities within services business through the development and delivery of effective cross-service monitoring and evaluation, responding to issues and identifying and following-up on opportunities.

• Deputise for Director of Service and the CEO when necessary including attending meetings and preparing and presenting reports.

The role

You will play a key role in ensuring that Camden Learning captures and uses data to drive service development and operate more efficiently. This is a newly created position which will support the implementation and ongoing development of a new CRM system, as well as optimising the other systems and platforms we use. You will support teams and wider stakeholders to get access to the data they need by running reports, undertaking basic data analysis and presenting data in an easy to understand way. You will also ensure our ordering processes are as straightforward as possible for our school members and customers, and support with their orders as required.

Key responsibilities

CRM

• Working alongside our development partner, support the successful implementation of a new CRM system
• Ensure the CRM system continues to meet the organisation’s needs, including setting up and owning the process by which colleagues request changes and new features
• Support colleagues to use the system effectively
• Make changes to the system if required and set up reports requested by colleagues. Liaise with development partner if larger changes or new development is required

Other systems and platforms

• Identify, set up and configure other systems and platforms to meet the organisation’s needs. This will include our training booking platform and HR platform.

Order processes

• Set up and own the processes by which schools place orders for services
• Respond to queries from schools related to subscriptions, orders and pricing
• Work with the Finance Officer to ensure customers are accurately invoiced for services used.

  • Camden Learning’s leadership team and board of directors

Borders Forest Trust (BFT) are recruiting for a new Chief Executive .

BFT is a charity established to restore native woodland habitats to Southern Scotland, an area with the lowest percentage of native woodlands in mainland Scotland. Since 1996, we have been working towards planting trees, restoring peatlands and other natural habitats, enriching the biological diversity of around 31 sq km in the Southern Uplands. They demonstrate large scale ecological restoration in action, and inspire landowners, statutory bodies, local communities and policy makers to embrace this alternative model for land use and conservation.

The charity’s previous Director has led the organisation for five years, and BFT are in a strong position, ready to develop a new organisational strategy and grow. This is a role of great strategic importance to the charity and the role is varied, with a broad remit.  

The Chief Executive role has organisational responsibility for 12 members of staff, some office based but most out and about across the countryside in which BFT works.  

As Chief Executive, you’ll bring proven senior leadership experience and the ability to get the best from staff and volunteers. A natural communicator, you’ll engage confidently with a wide range of people – from volunteers and donors to policymakers and conservation experts. 

You’ll have experience generating significant income in the not-for-profit sector, alongside strengths in strategic planning and programme development. About the Role

As Finance Manager, you will play a key role in managing financial processes and ensuring smooth operations. You will:

• Manage the accounts receivable function ensuring that invoices are raised in a timely manner, receipts are recorded on the accounting system and in liaison with the relevant managers ensure that outstanding balances are followed up on a regular and frequent basis
• Manage the accounts payable function ensuring that invoices are paid in a timely manner and supporting line managers with coding and uploading via HubDoc as necessary. Monitor entries in HubDoc (the application used to upload invoices to Xero – the accounting system used) to ensure any failed or unpublished invoices are followed up and accurately processed

• Monitor and reconcile credit card and petty cash payments ensuring that all financial controls are adhered to
• Supporting the Finance Director with month and year end procedures and reporting

About You

We are looking for a proactive and organised individual who can work both independently and collaboratively. You will bring:

• Have a solid understanding and experience of core accounting functions, financial management and bookkeeping – ideally in the charity or not for profit sector – including managing both accounts receivable and accounts payable
• Have good Excel skills and demonstrable experience of using accounting systems (we currently use Xero)
• Have excellent organisational and prioritisation skills, accuracy and attention to detail
• Have a good understanding of the management of restricted and unrestricted funds in charities
• Possess good communication skills and the ability to work with both finance and non-finance colleagues
• Have experience of preparing schedules and documents for external audit
