Service Delivery:
• Provide strategic and operational leadership across all service delivery areas, including support line services, group work,  advocacy, external communications, and policy.
• Ensure services are high quality, inclusive, and responsive to the needs of trans and gender-diverse children, young people and the special people in their lives.
• Lead the continuous improvement and development of service delivery models, ensuring impact, effectiveness, and alignment with the charity’s mission.
• Champion a culture of safeguarding, accountability, and young person-centred practice throughout all service delivery. 
• Act as the organisation’s Safeguarding Lead, with oversight of on-call, safeguarding training, and ensuring appropriate escalation mechanisms are in place.
• Oversee the design and implementation of advocacy and policy activities, ensuring the charity’s voice is informed by lived 
experience and is impactful at local and national levels.
• Act as a visible and hands-on leader for frontline teams, providing support, supervision, and inspiration to staff and 
volunteers.
• Monitor performance, outcomes, and feedback to ensure services are meeting objectives and delivering positive change 
for beneficiaries.

Governance:
• In partnership with the board of trustees, set and articulate our vision, mission and strategy, and keep this under continual 
review.
• Lead the development and implementation of Mermaid’s strategic plan, ensuring sustainability and growth.
• Liaise with the board of trustees to ensure the charity’s governance, structure, policies and procedures are appropriate 
and effective, taking remedial measures and implementing change as necessary. This includes supporting board 
development.
• Work closely with the Chair and Board of Trustees to support strong governance and informed decision-making.
• Provide accurate and timely reporting on organisational performance, risks, and impact.
• Ensure compliance with regulatory guidance and legislation, including the Charity Commission and the Fundraising 

Finance & Fundraising:
• Working with the Chief Operating Officer and the Board of Trustees, ensure Mermaids has robust, deliverable fundraising 
and finance strategies in place, and subsequent action plans are embedded throughout the organisation to support their 
delivery.
• In partnership with the Chief Operating Officer, ensure Mermaids has robust finance, HR, IT, data privacy and governance processes and procedures are embedded.

People and Culture:
• Line manage senior staff including the COO and service delivery managers.
• Foster a positive, collaborative, inclusive internal culture that values lived experience and wellbeing.
• Continue work to embed a culture of equity, diversity and inclusion across the organisation, as well as a focus on accessibility.
• Work to define and drive trans-centred leadership across the organisation, including ensuring that the organisation is a trans-positive, supportive employer.

External Engagement and Advocacy:
• Represent Mermaids publicly, including acting as the key spokesperson and strategic policy stakeholder, ensuring 
organisational awareness of the external landscape and the changing needs of trans children, young people and their 
families, and advocating for these needs to be met.
• Lead communications strategy, and lead press engagement by responding to media inquiries, interviews, press conferences and media events.
• Lead on stakeholder engagement, including with funders, supporters, community partners, and policy influencers.
• Advocate for the rights and needs of trans and gender-diverse children, young people and the significant others in their lives at a national level.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

General

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Financial Controller to oversee all financial aspects of both Ethex and Energise Africa. Reporting to the CFO, the Financial Controller will be a key member of the senior management teams, responsible for ensuring the accuracy, integrity, and timely delivery of financial information for both entities. This role requires a good understanding of accounting standards, excellent analytical skills, and the ability to contribute strategically to the growth and sustainability of both Ethex and Energise Africa. The ideal candidate will be passionate about the missions and values of both organisations and comfortable working in a dynamic and purpose-driven environment.

Key Responsibilities:

Financial Management & Reporting:

• Oversee financial accounting for both companies, working with our finance assistant, who is responsible for book-keeping, banking, AR and AP.

• Prepare accurate and timely management accounts.

• Manage the process for production of the annual report and accounts for both entities, liaising with external accountants / auditors and ensuring timely completion.

• Prepare and present financial reports and analysis to the respective senior management teams, Boards of Directors and funders of Ethex and Energise Africa.

Budgeting & Forecasting:

• Lead the annual budgeting processes for both organisations, working collaboratively with departmental heads to develop realistic and achievable budgets.

• Develop and maintain financial forecasting models to support strategic decision-making for both entities.

• Monitor budget performance, analyse variances, and provide insightful commentary and recommendations for both Ethex and Energise Africa.

Cash Flow Management:

• Manage the cash flow of both companies, ensuring sufficient liquidity to meet operational needs and strategic objectives.

• Develop and implement strategies for optimising cash flow and working capital across both entities, considering any intercompany transactions.

Tax & Compliance:

• Stay up to date and ensure compliance with all relevant tax legislation and accounting standards.

• Prepare quarterly VAT returns.

• Check corporation tax returns prepared by external accountants.

Systems & Processes:

• Continuously review and improve systems, processes, and controls to enhance efficiency and accuracy and safeguard the assets of both entities.

• When applicable, oversee the implementation accounting software and other relevant financial tools for both organisations.

Stakeholder Management:

• Build and maintain strong relationships with external stakeholders, including accountants, banks, non-executive directors and funders.

• Provide financial information and support to teams within Ethex and Energise Africa.

Skills & Experience:

• Qualified Accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent) with significant post-qualification experience.

• Proven track record in a responsible finance role, ideally as a Financial Controller or similar, with experience managing finances for multiple entities or a group structure.

• Strong technical accounting skills and a thorough understanding of relevant accounting standards and regulations.

• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret complex financial data and provide insightful analysis for both organisations.

• Strong budgeting, forecasting experience across multiple business units.

• Experience managing cash flow and working capital effectively across multiple entities.

• Proven ability to develop and implement robust financial controls and procedures for different operational contexts.

• Experience managing the audit process and liaising with external accountants.

The Organisation

The Winchester Diocesan Board of Finance (WDBF) is a Charitable Company established under the Diocesan Boards of Finance Measure 1925. All dioceses of the Church of England are required to have a Diocesan Board of Finance (DBF) to act as the link between the episcopal, synodical, and secular governance and leadership structures.

The WDBF’s principal object is to promote, assist and advance the work of the Church of England in the Diocese of Winchester, by acting as the financial executive of the Winchester Diocesan Synod.  

In practice this means that the WDBF is responsible for funding the remuneration, housing, training and development of our clergy, as well as providing specialist support in areas such as safeguarding, historic building conservation, stewardship, communications and governance. The Data and Statistics Analysist will play a vital role in supporting the parishes and communities of our Diocese through the collection, analysis, and management of data and statistics in connection with congregations, finances, and community impact. This role requires a highly organised and detail-oriented individual with a passion for data management and a commitment to using information to inform decision-making and strategic planning within the diocese.

The main responsibilities of this varied position are data collection and management, statistical analysis and reporting, strategic planning support, database maintenance and development, providing training and support to diocesan staff and parishes and acting as a point of contact for data-related inquires as well as ensuring all data handlining processes are in compliance with relevant data protection legislation and diocesan privacy policies.

1. IT Coordination

• Oversee the Law Centre’s IT systems to ensure they are secure, efficient, and meet the organisation's needs.

JOB PURPOSE

Demonstrating ParalympicsGB’s core values at all times, the Games Services Manager has responsibility for the design and delivery of key elements of ParalympicsGB’s Games Services Strategy and specific Games-related services and support whose outcomes will contribute positively to the fulfilment of ParalympicsGB’s vision, mission and objectives through: 

1. Working closely with the Head of Sport, exemplary management of identified areas of ParalympicsGB’s Games Services strategy and associated programmes, people and partnerships

Sport Directorate 

To support the on-going management of a cohesive and collaborative Sport Team environment which proactively embraces cross directorate / partnership working, additionally to: 

• Project management of ParalympicsGB’s Games Services Strategy within the Sport Directorate
• Provide regular updates to the Head of Sport regarding the implementation of the ParalympicsGB’s Games Services Strategy; identifying and communicating potential and actual risks in a timely manner 
• Proactively identify and develop key strategic performance partnerships both within the UK and overseas to support delivery of organisational objectives 
• Deputise for the Head of Sport in his / her absence at key meetings and activities on an agreed basis 
• Support to the Director of Sport and Head of Sport in delivering identified organisational objectives

Games Services Strategy 

Responsible for the management and effective delivery of identified elements of ParalympicsGB’s Games Services Strategy including: 

• Management of team data and the development of ParalympicsGB Base, including budget management. 
• Management of team qualification including performance and qualification tracking and reporting.
• Management of selecting the team including support to all Paralympic sports with selection policies and processes.
• Management of accrediting the team for the ParalympicsGB delegation, including collaboration with Games Operations in updating the Delegation Overview. 
• Management of entering the team including sport entries and liaison with National Governing Bodies and the Organising Committee.
• Management of the Qualification and Selection Panel. 

Team Development Strategy:

Provide support to the Director of Sport and the Head of Athlete Services for the following aspects of ParalympicsGB’s team development strategy:  

• Support the design of the ParalympicsGB team development strategy and lead on elements of programme delivery 
• Support the ParalympicsGB team Games recruitment project
• Lead the planning group for Team Development Programmes, including event and budget management 
• Lead the Team Member’s Agreement Working Group, including collaborative work with our legal partners. 
• Support delivery of the Team Leader Journey including workshops and induction programmes.

Miscellaneous: 

• To work collaboratively with Paralympic sports, UK Sport, Home Country Sports Institutes, British Olympic Association and other partners to ensure coherence in positioning, approach and impact of the Games Services Strategy and Games-specific services and support

About the role

The manager is instrumental in facilitating and delivering life changing, positive on the water experiences for young people. As an expert practitioner, they will provide leadership, development and mentoring to their team of instructors. The post will require strong organisational skills.

The Manager is an employee of the Marine Society & Sea Cadets based at our Crosby Boat Station. The post holder is required to hold and maintain the following qualifications as a condition of employment: RYA Senior Dinghy Instructor and RYA Powerboat Instructor.

The primary purpose of the role is to manage a water-sports training facility in the Liverpool area for all Sea Cadet Units and other affiliates to the Boat Station.

Responsibilities

• Manage the day to day running of the Boat Station.
• Ensure that all visiting groups and their staff are fully briefed on the Boat Station’s policies and procedures and that there is adequate supervision of Cadets and young people at the facility, so as to discharge their duty of care for them.
• Oversee the Chief Instructor and all other sessional Instructors using the Boat Station.
• Manage the Boat Station’s accounts in liaison with the Regional Finance Manager including day to day fees.
• Ensure that best practise in accordance with the NGB guidelines and requirements following our Inshore Boating Operating Standard.

• Coordinate with the implementation partner to gather and document business requirements from relevant team members to translate these into technical specifications.
