About the role

The Refugee Council supports separated children across England and part of our service is a team of staff based at the port of Dover, working 24/7 to provide a temporary safeguarding service for children arriving there, ensuring that their basic needs are met while they await transfer to the care of a local authority. The unit is reactive to the needs of clients, who may arrive at any time, and staff are expected to cover a variety of shifts.

As a Support Worker, you will assess the basic needs of newly arrived clients and provide an appropriate service, including food, clothing, and access to hygiene facilities. You will work in the best interests of the child and ensure all safeguarding issues are responded to, reported and accurately recorded.

Beacon is looking for a friendly and enthusiastic youth engagement worker to work as part of a small team to deliver our SHINE offer to young people. SHINE offers early intervention support to all 11-17 year old’s in Stockport to provide information, advice or guidance regarding their emotional wellbeing. It includes: 2 weekly wellbeing groups, a weekly arts group (delivered by Beacon’s partner), signposting and advice. SHINE develops skills to support emotional wellbeing, build resilience and confidence with weekly themes over 12 weeks.

You will be the main point of contact for young people and their families, providing information, advice, guidance and support to access services. You will work with colleagues and the young people to devise and cofacilitate group sessions which are fun, engaging and support young people to develop skills and improve wellbeing. You will liaise with our partner delivery organisation, and support the future development of the service. You will responsible for completing all administrative duties in relation to the service, including the collection of monitoring and feedback data.

The role is for 17.5 hours per week. The hours are to be agreed, but must include Tuesdays and Thursdays, 4pm to 7pm. The salary for this role is £26,481 per annum pro rata.

We’re seeking a Finance Manager to lead robust financial reporting and governance across 80 parish sites, while supporting central operations from our Crawley base.

In this key role, you’ll produce timely and accurate management accounts, oversee cloud-based reporting, and lead on the preparation of annual statutory accounts. You’ll be the primary contact for external auditors and play a central part in reporting to our Trustees and Diocesan Finance Committee.

You’ll also manage cashflow forecasting, tax compliance, treasury and investment activity, and VAT (for one subsidiary). Charity sector experience is highly desirable, but your collaborative, flexible leadership—especially of a diverse network of staff and volunteer finance teams—will be most essential.

Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, you’ll oversee the support of cloud-based reporting for 80 parish sites and the delivery of timely, accurate management accounts for central operations based at our Crawley site. You will have a key role in providing high-quality financial reporting to our Trustees and Diocesan Finance Committee (DFC). You'll also lead the team in producing statutory audited accounts, acting as the principal contact for external auditors.

The main focus of the role is finding, attracting and stewarding new funders to help deliver Rising Sun’s life changing services. You will write compelling funding proposals that demonstrate the impact of our services and how we meet funders’ requirements. You will build strong relationships with grant officers from various foundations, providing regular updates and communicating challenges, solutions and successes as appropriate to develop our reputation as an effective, reliable and trustworthy organisation.  Alongside this you will be nurturing our existing portfolio of funders to help prioritise multi-year funding.

Working with you in the Fundraising Team will be the Head of Income, Partnerships and Communications, Trusts and Foundations Officer, Community Fundraising Officer and Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning Team. As part of the team you will help to develop fundraising materials such as case studies, impact reports and cases for support.

In addition, you will have excellent writing skills and experience of generating income from trusts and foundations to grow our income from this stream. • Develop and manage part of Rising Sun’s portfolio of income and fundraising activities related to trusts and foundations.
• Keep the trusts and foundations stream of the funding pipeline healthy and up to date, carrying out research into new opportunities and meeting application deadlines. 
• Write compelling funding applications that answer funders’ questions and effectively communicate the mission, services and impact of Rising Sun.

There are various project roles and operational, communication, finance and HR roles that support the organisation and project staff and organisers to deliver on this mission and work. Main Responsibilities 

A Senior Organiser is mastering the craft of community organising and taking increasing responsibility for developing major campaigns, managing budgets and managing staff. They operate with a high degree of independence and are significant contributors to CUK-wide functions such as training.  Senior Organisers model the broad-based community organising methodology in their work including the building of relational power, the recruitment and retention of dues-paying institutions, the development of leaders, the strengthening of member institutions, leader-led public actions, and the winning of systemic change. 

You will bring communities together to drive change both locally, regionally, and nationally. This role will work closely with local civic institutions, such as churches, mosques, schools, universities, unions and other community groups to: 

• develop the leadership of people within those organisations - our 'leaders' who lead the campaigns we work on 

• help them identify the changes they want to see and create strategies to win those changes 

• strengthen institutions’ own abilities to achieve their missions. 

This includes listening to members of the community to find common issues, engaging local decision-makers through meetings, and planning in-person ‘actions’, where you might hold those in power to account. All of this work is underpinned by the knowledge that everyday people have the ability to shape the world around them. This work will be rooted locally, but you will be a part of a bigger national drive to make change alongside diverse local alliances across the UK. Working as a Senior Organiser for Citizens UK, reporting to Regional Supervisor for the South of England, your main responsibilities will include:

• Contribute to fundraising by securing £75k-£90k per annum overall, at least half of which should be ‘hard money’ from retention and recruitment of member institutions and strategic partners.

Our Organisers and some project teams work closely with our member institutions and will be expected to attend member events that take place in the evenings and occasional weekends. We operate a Time Off in Lieu approach and have very flexible working arrangements to ensure a good work-life balance. 

Please note that the role is Essex-wide and, as such, there is a practical expectation that the successful candidate will be able to drive between key locations across the county (with associated mileage costs being covered by Citizens UK).

Job description

CSE is seeking to appoint a confident and adaptable Project Manager (Maternity Cover) with the experience and initiative to lead and deliver a varied portfolio of community-based energy and climate projects.

This role will likely initially focus on coordinating our work on the Energy Learning Network and supporting the networking of local community organisations that provide vital energy advice.

The successful candidate will be an excellent communicator who is confident working with a wide range of stakeholders and has proven experience managing multi-partner or community-based projects. They will understand and seek to champion the value of community-led approaches to energy and climate action.

Pay and conditions

• The role is full-time 1-year fixed contract (37.5 hours per week).
• The salary for the role will be £36,075.
• You will be entitled to 25 days paid holiday (plus statutory holidays).

Specific responsibilities

An applicant appointed to the role will be expected to:

- Consistently and effectively manage projects across a range of initiatives within the LACE team with responsibility for planning, promotion, budgeting, ongoing financial management, funder liaison, reporting, monitoring and evaluation.

- Manage finance and resources for project work such as events, training, analysis, grant schemes, stakeholder engagement, community climate action, youth work and work supporting local authorities.

- Line management of up to 1-2 junior members of the LACE team.

- Contribute to team wellbeing by supporting co-workers in their tasks and proactively addressing issues relating to your projects or direct reports. Communicate project outputs effectively to team members, CSE staff and eternal stakeholders.

- Oversee promotion and marketing of projects and outputs to ensure effective engagement with the target audience (in conjunction with Communications team).

- Regularly represent CSE at external events (e.g. webinars, meetings, conferences), presenting to a Centre for Sustainable Energy 2024 high standard and sharing outputs and insights from projects you manage and work on.

- Establish and maintain strong relationships and partnerships with funders and stakeholders, potentially including existing funders and strategic partners, community groups, local authorities, voluntary sector associations, housing associations, youth groups.

- Provide expertise and experience necessary to deliver projects well and contribute to the upskilling of CSE staff and the capacity building of external stakeholders. In this role that could include models and approaches for viable community led sustainability initiatives, community renewables, sustainability initiatives, community engagement, community resilience, or energy efficiency.
